Saki and her friends have good time camping in the forest. On their way back home, they take a dark narrow road believing it is shortcut. Their car breaks down and they now stuck. Suddenly a man, who appears to be running away from someone, appears in front of them.

Movie is based on popular horror game “DeathForest~Mori kara no Dashutsu” made by Kazz. The game was first released July, 2014.

AB Jan 09 2022 12:58 am Probably this film would have been unwatchable to the end without the main role actress, Momoko Midorikawa. She is very cute and beautiful, and compared to the other actors in this film, her acting also was the best. The others acted like they had reactions to what was happening that were "unrealistic", if such a word can be used in the context of events like this film's plot without becoming meaningless, or overacted. Though, Daijiro Kawaoka's acting also was mostly good with some off moments and he also is rather handsome.

The man with white bodypaint was creepy. It was shown there was more than one but, because only one appeared relevant to the plot with "action" so, the horror was in large part dependent on his performance. This is where a problem appears: the film was too short to contain any effective horror scenes, yet, in spite of its very short length it still felt too long and dragging. When this man appeared, it was a good horror scene. The buildup, tension and release of that one scene were all up to higher standards than the rest of this film. But, after that he was no longer scary because, after that scene there lacked buildup of tension for the horror of the man/men.

It's necessary to mention the floating head. Surprisingly, the first slow turn of the floating head was actually creepy. In that scene the building of tension was well done. Then, it was nothing but downhill from there... the head became funny instead of scary.

The plot is almost non-existent. There are implications to a plot but nothing is ever developed. Nothing is really explained. This can be effective to create a sense of mystery but, in this film, it doesn't work because there is no mystery worth sensing. Perhaps in the sequels something manifests, though, I wouldn't expect it.

This film is worth watching for two reasons. Firstly, because it will be a good low point of comparison to other horror films because it however isn't "bad" in the absolute sense of the word. Secondly, for the sake of Momoko Midorikawa.
