Plot

Long time ago in Korea, during the time of Cho-Sun Dynasty, there was a group of women called 'Da-Mo'. 'Da-Mo' is the name of the job meaning the police woman. 'Da-Mo' was regarded as the low class but they had the privilege to investigate lady's private room and interview the ladies of the high society where no man could approach. Da-Mo's who are working in the Palace were even privy to the ongoing political intrigue.

But Da-Mo, being the low class and women, they were treated no better than the humble servants in the society. They were not free from the suffocating society full of prejudice on class and sex. This drama depicts one life of Da-Mo named Chae-Ok. She possesses the advanced idea for living which could not be accepted by the convention of the society and this is where the touching story of this drama 'The Legendary Police Woman' comes. This Special Drama Series produced for HD TV, has been under production for 1 full year before the first air. Military Art and vast scenes of Sword Fighting will be a pleasure for eyes and the tragic love story will touch the heart of the viewers.

It feel the same with the drama "what happend in bali" Waiting and hope the best for the drama "chocolate"?

I love the cast, but the episodes from 8-14 give me a headache- It made me hate the main characters, sadly Chae-ohk as well, which I loved so much. I treasured this drama for 3 years before actually watching it, I'm disappointed.

MAJOR SPOILERS Chae-ohk's motives would become unclear many times and even the second love story was very uncomfortable because the audience KNOWS that she and Sung-Baek are related. (unless this was their objective, which I highly doubt considering the OST that accompanied the scenes.)They showed us evidence more than 3 times. The show had so many chances to reveal that secret, MAJOR SPOILERS but it dragged it until the very end. Their reactions to the news were indifferent and short, but for whatever reason, their romance problems took over many scenes and affected majorly its characters and other plots for many episodes.(Hwang-bo would lose it, Chae-ohk would stare and do nothing, Sung-baek abandoned his purpose for a good 2 minutes time, mountain drama etc) At that point, it was becoming repetitive. MAJOR SPOILERS MAJOR SPOILERS MAJOR SPOILERS MAJOR SPOILERS END HERE

My problem was not with the story, I liked it, the execution was tiresome. I get that the episodes were not many, yet there were many unnecessary scenes. Don't drag your 3+ stories if you don't have many episodes, advance them equally in each episode. The actors, actresses were a great cast. Typical acting, but there are moments that shine above the rest, from everyone. I watched it for Ha Ji won but I stayed for everybody else.

I liked how it ended, I have my objections but they are rooted waaay before the last episode anyways. So given how the drama turned out, the ending was suitable. Before even watching it I treasured this drama, I was subjectively in favor of everything it showed, because of the actress, but it didn't live up to the hype, so all that's left now is to be honest. DID IT CHANGE MY LIFE- It did, because it was original and fun. Is it the perfect drama? NOPE, but it's up there. Go watch it, it was viewed by many back in 2005 ac. to its ratings.

Marsha Aug 04 2016 12:27 pm OK, this love triangle had me up until the final episode. I always understood the actions of the Commander and Jae Hui. Their motivations were always clear to me, even when they went back and forth on things. But Sung-Baek... After learning she's his sister, he just rides off into the sunset?????? No matter what else is going on and regardless of whether he's in love with her, no loving brother would just ride off and leave his sister there, without telling her the truth. And why did he kill the Commander at that point? It felt unnecessary, given everything that was happening at that moment. I think the script failed him.

I give this show a 7/10 for the intense love story, which failed me in the last episode. Most of the stuff happening outside of the love story and the side characters were not engaging or properly fleshed out, and that made the series tedious to watch at times.

Maeden Mar 14 2016 4:02 pm Damp changed my life. This drama is so memorable. I lived the cave scene with Chae-ok and Seong-baek. Do you know how powerfully those scenes were written...just in the space of few hours...within a confined space..so much emotionality. And the ending was perfect. I can't get over this drama. Ever.

Shinubi Wang Dec 29 2015 9:43 pm Episode 3 and the stubborn steak of Damo continues. One thing I cannot stand is stubborn people. Cha Ohk’s death wish is unsettling and detrimental to organisational discipline and effectiveness. She needed to be taught a lesson.

Moreover, she would not make a good wife. A good wife is one which will give her husband peace of mind.

Come on, script writers, give us some decent, good natured and obedient Joseon women.

selia Nov 23 2015 2:11 pm AwWWWhh, I love the protay of curious hearts and confusion why they (brother & sister) are soo drawn to one another even though they only met for a few times. It's soo straight to the point without any lagging. She truly does love the commandar, but got confused when her heart met her brother. I am glad they found out, what a tragiv scrafice for all three characters!! The guy that lost his wife and unborn child. :__(

I was deeply moved so many time during the drama and the end especially. However it was just right... I've seen it twice now... I will regroup and then will do another round soon... Millions love you already because of that, so what else can I say? :-) You're one of the best romantic sageuks out there. I wish blessings to all who have been blessed in the struggle to get hold of what your story had to say. The struggles and the triumphs of the 4 main characters (for me they were Yoon, Ohk, Sung Baek, and Soo Myung) was awesome. The supporting cast did not lag behind in prominence, too. I greatly appreciate the presence of Mr. Lim Hyeon Shik in it even for the short time that it was. Ah, Damo, I'm still looking forward to analyzing the movement of your storyline. As of now I'd say the Yoon-Ohk, Ohk-Sungbaek, and Sungbaek-Soomyung tandems, as well as the camaraderie in the Left Police Bureau, are worthy of envy :-) :-) May the good influence of Damo live long!

Jae Mar 27 2012 5:48 am The misunderstanding between her and her lover is comical, but at least they resolve it before he dies. It was sad, but if it didn't happen I don't think either sibling would realize why they felt connected.

@ lisa It's such a sweet but sad story about siblings. They are separated and as adults they find each other. One is a police officer and the other is a "criminal" and they must fight. They feel a connection but can't place where or why, but in the final episode learn they are siblings. He dies to end their story and she chooses to join him.

Gasenadi Feb 21 2012 7:34 pm Oh. My. GOD!! Such a moving, tragic story. I already knew she was awesome from The Secret Garden. But it was my first time seeing LSJ in a drama. I was floored. And then, the perpetual second lead, KMJ, in my favorite kdrama character, the defender of justice and equality. The first time, I couldn't get past the first episode because it seemed so depressing. Then, as another viewer suggested, I just accepted it and appreciated a well-executed drama. Glad I did. Don't be scared, give it a try.
