When Nao was 6-years-old, her mother worked at a wagashi (traditional Japanese confectionary) shop that has been open for 400 years. Nao and her single mother lived at the wagashi shop. Meanwhile, Tsubaki was also 6-years-old at that time. His father runs the wagashi shop and he is friends with Nao. One morning, Tsubaki's father is found dead and covered in blood. He was stabbed to death. Based on Tsubaki's testimony, Nao's mother is arrested for the murder and Nao is kicked out of the wagashi shop.

15 years later, Nao (Minami Hamabe) and Tsubaki (Ryusei Yokohama) meet again at a wagashi competition. Nao recognizes Tsubaki, but Tsubaki does not recognize her. Nao hates Tsubaki. She believes he is the cause of her mother being falsely accused of murder and her death that occurred during the investigation. Tsubaki, unaware of Nao's identity, becomes interested in her. Wanting to break off a family arranged marriage, Tsubaki proposes to Nao. For Nao, she has an opportunity to become a part of his family and finally prove her mother's innocence.

But im not surprised, the Japanese dramas/movies are always something else. But in the end, they are happy tho. I want season 2 please MinamixRyusei

heyyllls Dec 26 2020 1:41 am Never knew such drama/manga existed with such storyline because I've been looking for this kind of story line for so long. Hence when I saw this recommendation from YouTube, I'm instantly hooked. Was so happy because I really like the story line plus Minami and Ryusei as leads? What more can I ask for! I also checked the manga and I liked the art as well. Drama is 9.5/10 for me!

It was portrayed so good. Really loved it. Although it was a painful love story but still I recommend you'll to watch it

Like So Good the different kind of mystery since eps 1 and all of them revealed in ep8. It's beyond my expectation. I do not think the culprit was that person nor the reason so.. this jdrama.. the best

Alice Dec 12 2020 2:38 pm This is my favorite drama honestly. The relationship is kinda complicated and resolved really good. There is no one absolutely wrong here. They are just consumed by their jealousy, revenge, hatred, betrayal, etc. It's like you explore human ugly feeling combined together in this sweet shop. As someone who read the manga, I can say it's really similar. The atmosphere, the character and other details. As someone who ever live Kanazawa where this drama located, I am glad they bring out the beauty of this city. When I was in Kanazawa, it's not rare that people walk around in town with yukata and there are many traditional shop and every season is so beautiful especially winter because snow is really thick in Kanazawa. So make sure to come to Kanazawa because historical city in Japan is not only Kyoto! lol

drama enthusiast Nov 21 2020 1:43 am I found this drama through youtube comments and.. I must say, did not disappoint a bit! Definitely up there in my all time favourite japanese dramas. Both the ML and FL are drop dead gorgeous, were great at acting and had amazing chemistry. Also, Ryusei Yokohama is such an attractive man, how did I not discover him earlier? If you're contemplating on whether to watch this or not, I'll tell you- watch it. I loved each and every episode. Hoping to see more of this couple in future projects!

The clothes, houses, and many other things in the drama made me know more of Japanese culture. And I fell in love with Ryusei Yokohama and Miname Hamabe too. This is my first time seeing Ryusei, but Minami I have watched her a little bit in a short detective drama (forgot the title but I didn't finish that). They have perfect chemistry. Other actors are great as well.

I really appreciate this drama because it reflects how Japanese people values their culture and I envy them for that . I am looking forward to watch next episodes of it.

Minami leaves me speechless .. ☺️ can't believe she's the Girl I watched in the film "I want to eat Your Pancreas" Ryusei ? such a hot actor... one word for Him "YUMMY"... I really like his Aura and everything.. Mahiro I really love his acting skill even though his just a supporting actor/a little bit 3rd party... But I totally inlove with him way back Kakegurui time (together w/Minami).

The drama itself ( only watch episode 1  and 2) and definitely hooked up! I love the whole production- the complete knowledge about the wagashi world , the visual is remarkable plus the OST itself sung by famous eccentric Japanese Band ‘ Tokyo Incident’

If you are sucker for Japanese Manga & J dorama (Japanese drama and movies ) like me , especially traditional Japanese environments in manga such as Stuff like; wagashi ( Traditional Japanese confectionery) and kimono but due to the Actor Ryusei Yokohama was COVID-19 infected this live action drama “Watashitachi wa douka shiteiru” was pushed back , and so relieved it finally started - I was excited and looking forward for the new release of the upcoming manga series and the drama itself !!

Roo Jul 30 2020 8:38 am I have read until the latest chapter (57) of the manga and found the story is pretty dark. If the dorama followed the manga storyline, I wonder if it can be consumed by most audiences. After the proposal etc, there will be separation for three years after fire accident in the manga. But I hope it will have more story about wagashi.

Roo Jul 23 2020 8:27 pm Since Ryusei infected by the new corona virus, I think the broadcast date will change again because the shooting is suspended. For now the test for Minami and Mahiro is negative. But they should wait a few days for more result.
