A body that is decayed into a skeleton is discovered at a construction site for a crematory. Evidence left behind matches that of an unsolved burglary-murder case. To solve the case an investigation headquarters is put together.
Tatsuo Ozeki (Hiroshi Tachi) is a veteran detective. He was demoted due to a wrongful arrest that took place 25 years ago. Now, he has 2 years left before he retires. Meanwhile, reporter Kohei Itagaki (Masaki Kanda), who covered the wrongful arrest case, is working on a story about residents that oppose the construction of the crematory. Kohei learns about the dead body discovery and heads to the investigation headquarters. There, Kohei and Tatsuo meet again for the first time in 25 years.
