Koichi (Atsumi Kanno) lives in Tokyo. He hears that his father Kozo (Saburo Ishikura) has a heart attack and rushes back to his hometown. Kozo ran a liquor store for years. Despite the opposition of Kozo and people around him, Koichi changes the liquor store to a convenience store. Due to the convenience store, the father becomes alienated from his longtime friends, who run a book store and cigarette store.
