Ichica Arisawa (Ai Mikami) enters a prestigious girls’ high school that children from wealthy families attend. Since her parents’ divorced, she has lived with her mother Chihiro Arisawa (Yo Yoshida) who was left to shoulder the huge debts from her ex-husband. Her mom does her best to scrape together enough money to pay for Ichica Arisawa’s tuition fee, hoping she will have a better future. Life is not so easy for them. By the time Ichica Arisawa is in her second year at the high school, the school merges with a boys' high school and becomes the coeducation school Asuran Academy. The students are excited about the change, but the new school establishes a strict new rule. The rule is that all students are prohibited from dating. If any students is caught violating the new rule, they will be expelled from school.

The student council begins patrolling around places like motels, which they refer to as rabbit hunting. Many students are caught by them and they get kicked out of the school permanently. Ichica Arisawa’s best friend is caught and is forced to drop out of the school. Meanwhile, in order to help her mother’s financial burden, Ichica Arisawa begins a new activity as a "love keeper." Her identity as a love keeper is hidden. She accepts money from rule violators and proceeds to erase evidence of their violations. Ryougo Maki (Ryubi Miyase) is the son of a governor, but he seeks to escape from his abusive father. He sees Ichica Arisawa's love keeper work as a way to make money that he needs. They make a partnership to work together, but become attracted to each other.

Deb Sep 07 2024 10:28 am I am thinking of watching this show. It seems interesting. I just wanted to add here - everyone saying it's a silly premise to have that no romance rule - I don't think it is because I had seen once that in countries like Korea/Japan there used to be rules that students can simply not hand out together in uniform after school and teachers used to do a policing of nearby areas to catch students, conceptually it can be silly but the reality did exist. Having said that, it is probably not true anymore. Also, while teenage sex and hormones exist everywhere, in many Asian countries, the majority actually engage in the same after school. They might date but not necessarily engage in sex. Of course, at the same time minority exists as well.

Liraz Sep 04 2024 5:55 am @Husseina i think your way of thinking is unhealthy. It’s stupid to expect literal teenagers to not fall in love or have intimate relationship. As the drama shows, even with a relationship ban, some students still disobey because they're hormone-filled teenagers who discovered what love was all about.

This drama doesn’t promote teenage pregnancy and doesn’t devalues the education system, it actually show that the system is flawed and that the students are uninformed about safe sex.

Your surface level understanding of the show makes me think that you already had your own opinion on the matter before even starting the drama (it’s probably cultural?) and that you were expecting a different ending even though it was evident that it won’t end like you think…

I watched the entire series hoping for a reality check, but it never came - even in the final 15 minutes of the last episode I still held out for one, alas... This show promotes teenage pregnancy and devalues the education system, which is scary. It’s set in Japan, a first-world country that apparently has run out of real problems to tackle.

The premise is flawed: why must high school students fight for their right to sexual/intimate relationships? Can’t they wait until they finish high school, go to university, and then have the freedom to make their own choices? Isn’t that the idea - to delay intimacy until they’re older and more mature? These are 14-17yrs olds. I shudder.

The rule wasn’t about banning love, but about delaying its physical expression. Yet, the show insists on pushing this unhealthy narrative. The main character’s audacity is staggering, especially after extorting and shaming others due to her own daddy issues. It’s a classic case of immature writers making decisions about life without experiencing it themselves. Overall, Chastity High is a cringeworthy and misguided attempt at exploring complex issues.
