Atsushi Sonoda left his family 15 years ago. He now lives with and cares for his elderly mother Toshie. Learning from Atsushi's life, his son Koji (Shun Shioya) is now a lawyer and is set to marry his girlfriend (Kana Harada). One day, while Atsushi Sonoda is away, his mother's condition worsens and she dies. Making things worse, Atsushi Sonoda doesn't attend her funeral and goes missing.
