Misaki Sakurai (Mirei Kiritani) has not dated in a long time. She has focused on her work as a pâtissier to eventually run her own business. One day, she gets fired from work. She then meets her first love from high school Chiaki Shibasaki (Shohei Miura). Misaki Sakurai works part-time at Chiaki’s restaurant and also stays there. While she lives with Chiaki at his restaurant, she realizes that Chiaki's two younger brothers Toma (Shuhei Nomura) and Kanata (Kento Yamazaki) also live there.

Mindy Oct 02 2018 1:28 pm this was a very cute show. even though the genre is supposed to be comedy, i was more taken by the cute chemistry between the leads than any kind of humor. The story also got me more emotional at the end than I thought it could. It was really enjoyable. And everything from the baking, to the beautiful landscape to the undeniable chemistry between the leads just really lightened my mood and made me happy.

If you're a fan of cute romance, I definitely recommend it!

He got Misaki in the drama but Chiaki won in real life. I googled the cast a minute ago and omg just found out that Mirei Kiritani and Miura Shohei just got married. Congratulations! Great drama! Great cast! Great Plot! I bet the drama has a special place in the cast's hearts too. <3

ARMY Dec 08 2017 10:55 am This drama was damn good The plot is interested indeed. The casts are amazing. The main female character was a bit cringy but that's just how the most J-drama was. I really hope Chiaki and Kaede remain as a couple but Kanata and Misaki couple was very adorable. I love the couple since the movie "Heroin Disqualified "/ " No Longer heroin ". Believe me, you'll like Mirei Kiritani in the movie because she's so funny although her character was cringy ( I mean, a lot cringy than in this drama ). Anyway, I give this drama a thumbs up and highly recommended one.

And I loved it.

It's a cliche with all the formulated stereotypes and tropes flooding shoujo mangas/ya literature, but it works. The acting was believable and the chemistry was fire!

It's a great drama for first-time japanese drama viewers. The heroine is adorable. 8.5/10 would recommend.

SPOILER kanata and misaki... at some point I wanted to punch them in the face... the scenes in which they are fighting so forced.... MY GOD... anyways my opinion 7.5/10.

Lately I've been watching a lot of Asian series and movies and mostly I've felt like Korean ones match my interests best since Japanese dramas tend to have really annoying main characters (don't kill me! It's my opinion). But then I stumbled upon this one and I fell in love instantly. Now this is absolutely one of my favorite series ever.

For once the main girl is hardworking and intelligent instead of being spineless whiner (maybe the previous dramas I've seen have been bad?). I really liked Misaki and I adored her passion and her relationship with Shibasaki brothers! Sure, there were moments when I wanted to reach through the screen and strangle her for being such an idiot but luckily it didn't occur too often. And don't even get me started with the Shibasakis. Hot damn, they were amazing! Chiaki was a tad annoying at some points but Toma and Kanata? Ugh. I loved the two of them from the beginning until the very end. Where are boys like those two in real life? Send me one immediately. Please.

The plot was nice too. It seemed pretty smooth - interesting enough yet not too stuffed. The relationships grew and changed with a good pace and none of it seemed too rushed. Everything happened for a reason. Well, almost everything. There is one very... well, weird plot twist that made me cringe and roll my eyes. A plot twist that seems to be quite popular among both J- and Kdramas. It came out of nowhere and - in my opinion - had too much of an impact on the plot. If you've seen the drama, you'll probably know what I mean. But other than that, the plot was great!

So yeah. If you like nice character, easygoing summers, sweet romances and stories about families, you should totally watch this! It will make you smile.

Gosh, should I go and rewatch it?

boink May 18 2017 3:57 pm Love this JDrama. It is now my second favorite, first is Good Morning Call. When I started watching JDrama, immediately it became obvious that the Japanese absolutely love high school dramas. But perhaps the most obvious of it all, is that all (at least from what I watched) JDramas are based on manga.

Ok, getting to the point. I have watched YamaKen in a lot of JDrama/Movies and yes, he is always a student. And that is why this drama is so precious to me. Not only was he NOT wearing a uniform, but we've seen a glimpse of his toned, muscular body and YamaKen in sleeveless shirts is a heart attack waiting to happen.

But YamaKen is not the only reason this became my favorite. The story was really cute and heartwarming. I have trained myself not to expect much from Japanese actors as they are really more reserved in acting than any SKor actors (no offense intended). It's either exaggerated like a manga or the most common, being aloof and reserved acting.

So yeah this show is a breath of fresh air for me and I really loved it.

I'm seeing the latter because tbh I failed to see this drama as good J-drama because it's heavily carried by her shoulders when all she could do is making her character exaggerating and annoying nor she can properly show natural emotions I totally feel disconnected of her character nor she able to make me empathize with her . Yamaken was at least tolerable but God I'm dead bored seeing him typecast play douche characters like this. Tbh non of the lead cast capture my interest except Nomura Shuhei which is sadly even his acting is got wasted here -_-;

Hannasj May 09 2017 10:18 pm @Kiri whelp i'm a bit shock about your bold statement "acting is never ever about emoting!" well if an actor or actress cant even emote in their characters they better be robot then no emotion involved whatsoever. Although I do agree its not solely about emoting well in your characters but good acting is a combination of many others, subtlelity of your manner, physical approach, your facial expression etcetra...but being able to emote well definitely contribute to so-called good acting. I believe Kento is a good actor just try and watch his early work such as in Kanseitou, the acting was so on point and heart-wrenching. But maybe because lately he took up a lot of shoujo live-action lead that people are stamping him to be generic and are skeptical about his acting which is unfair for him actually. Because I think an actor should judge based on his potrayal of each character differently and not clumping it together and judge. Some people may not see it but I see subtlelity in each character he played making it fundamentally different from his other role and I for once didnt found his acting generic. Maybe we can call that his acting's style??

Kath Mar 24 2017 10:14 pm This was the drama that I fell in love with Yamazaki Kento. I've watched him in other drama but there wasn't one that made me want to rewatch it because of him except this. I always knew he was a handsome guy but in this, he was so hot. Tanned skin really suits him well and he looked like he really worked out for this. I hit pause every time he's wearing sleeveless shirts. And his acting as Kanata was really convincing. Forever shipping him with Mirei Kiritani <3 <3 Though, Mirei's acting was overboard. Maybe, she got a little too used to acting "anime-like". Shohei Miura and Shuhei Nomura also delivered well. I like it that they really look like brothers in the show. It's just so heartwarming.

I was always skeptical over YamaKen being overused in many LA but him being Kanata really won my heart. I hope there'll be 2nd season of this drama because I really really really like it!

They judge acting based on how much emotions are being shown, never mind how much over-the-top or out-of-character those emotions can be even though the real question should be how the characters are to be convincingly portrayed. Acting is never ever about emoting!!!

Kento is clearly capable of doing different types of emotions if one looks at what he has done in the past. Kanata is just a cold guy. And Kento has played his Kanata character to almost perfection with subtle, understated acting, being able to show the depth and the internal struggles of the character without ever going out-of-character or relying on exaggerated expressions and body movements.

twenty Aug 31 2016 8:16 pm I thought Kento would be better here. But same as always, he couldn't get much expression. At least Fukushi Sota had tried different roles (ghosts) in Omukae Death, though still not satisfying too.

Meanwhile, Mirei doesn't fit acting in comedy. In ep7, she looks better while looking sad. That's why I like her role more in Sumika Sumire and Koisuru Vampire rather than here and Heroine Shikkaku. But I must say that Mirei-Kento's couple looks fun, decorating summer magazines such as Ray Aug 16. Though she'd prefer older man, and Kento guessed right in a cooking contest video on Youtube.

Shohei is always, a calm man. I'd like to see him in more energetic role. And Shuhei is very good in acting as a badboy and a desperate man. Saw him in Boku no Ita Jikan & Koinaka.

Three brothers carrying on their father's legacy with the family's secret demi-glace recipe. The female protagonist living and working with the brothers. All three brothers are in some way interested in the protagonist. Lots of similarities but I still like watching this one as well, more so than I thought I would.

I really have no idea that she's sing it because I think it was the japanese singer. What a nice song and I like her voice, cute but soft, kinda sounds like Boa's voice. Well, it just my opinion. Anyway, the drama become more interesting. Kanata seems to express his feeling towards Misaki, I like it :)

And both are good...kengo Kora drama is a love story about two ppl living and struggling to survive in Tokyo and find their way back to each other.. I recommend both these dramas

But, seeing his character as kanata just kinda boring I think, he often plays as a coldheart, though, and mysterious guy in other drama/movies. So I expect nothing to him. And the one surprising me is I can't help to fall in love with chiaki's character.

I think she doesn't suit with this hairstyle. I hope Misaki will get happiness in the end... I still think that the eldest brother is hiding some secret so I'm cheering for Kanata because he's more honest lately.

So if the drama have good rating usually they will go to 10 or 12 episode but if the drama have bad rating they will go to 8 episode.
