Seitaro Mochizuki (Issey Takahashi) is a pyrotechnist and a single man. He works at his father Ko Mochizuki’s (Isao Hashizume) fireworks store. When Seitaro Mochizuki was 9 years old, his father Ko Mochizuki got divorced. Since then, Seitaro and Ko have lived together. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the upcoming 2022 summer fireworks festival gets cancelled. Ko then suggests to Seitaro Mochizuki that he should offer individual fireworks shows, but Seitaro Mochizuki doesn't like the idea. On that seemingly typical morning, Ko Mochizuki collapses. He is able to say "sorry" to Seitaro Mochizuki and then passes away. Seitaro Mochizuki is left alone. During the winter, Hikari Mizumori (Tsubasa Honda) comes to Seitaro Mochizuki’s fireworks store, holding a flyer that offers to "set off fireworks only for you." She asks Seitaro Mochizuki about a fireworks show.
