Pastor Park (Lee Jung-Jae) works to expose suspicious religious groups. He's hired to look into the cult group Deer Mount. Meanwhile, Police Captain Hwang (Jung Jin-Young) investigates a murder case and he soon focuses on a member of the Deer Mount cult group.

thrillme Nov 20 2021 5:23 pm This movie was a great find! Wanted to look more into Lee Jung Jae's films and the directing in this one was fantastic! The best way to describe would be if you're familiar with american films like Jacob's Ladder with it's complexity of what's real vs fantasy, with the pinning down of who exactly is "the omen" then you're in for a great rollercoaster. It really is a film that needs looked at more than once to notice things missed the first time and get a better grip of what's going on.

ssc Jul 26 2020 3:22 am The cinematography is beautiful as "Days of Heaven," shot in natural sun light, actors treading and working in gold field of grain, Svaha moves from sepia to black and white, to blue tint, mostly in short takes to natural light, to night light. I saw this film twice. The first time, it lingered with me for a time and something made me look it up again. when you sit in front of a moving picture you ride the dream that makers handed it to you, as it always happens with me, my mind mixed this film with other films, segments of this film, that film, which is another reason why I looked it up again. However, the film itself might have made different containers as it were for me to put images from other films. The second time seeing it, I understood the concealed humor, though I understand it in my own way, usually when humans have extra digit, it grows from thumbs. Editing speed, "contiguous" relationship to other films, well handled. Svaha deserve five stars.

Kiya Jul 06 2020 5:26 am I only watch Lee Jung Jae as King Yeomra in Along with the Gods, he was very charismatic in there, but here he gave a playful, eccentric vibe and that's refreshing to watch.

Park Jung Min, David Lee, and Jung Jin Young performances are amazing as always.

Jin Seon Kyu & Ji Seung Hyun once again prove themselves to be great versatile actors.

C Jun 05 2019 10:40 am This Movie was highly recommend ed by me. As a movie lover and also horror fanatic. This movie was literally was different than the other movies. But for those person who are religously loyal to their religion it may be way to difficult to understand but in the you will know the answer to your questions ?

M Jun 04 2019 12:18 pm I'm a horror fanatic and I really liked this film. It is probably the most unique horror film I've watched by far because it shed darkness on the light almost all of us are looking up to and basically, our ultimate hope..God/Buddha/whomever you believe would save you from your sins and sufferings. And that is the scariest thing of all, finding your doom on the hands of the Almighty whom you have always believed to give you salvation and mercy (in this film, they focused on Buddha).

It was definitely a religious story. I'm a Catholic so I couldn't relate to Buddhism. There were also many mentions about God.

LKB Jun 02 2019 7:52 am No clue why, only a few months after cinema release, the initial response here is Sook negative, but it is EXCELLENT. Not for everyone, duh, but if you liked the series Save Me, The Guest, or The Priest, for instance, or even Ghost Detective/Black types of supernatural crossover themed dark programs, this may be perfect for you. It was dark without excessive gore. It primarily was mysterious more than horrific moment to moment. Of course, if you intensely visualize the past events that are learned through newspapers/case files, you can get horrified (or if you have encountered this sort of creepy crazy selfish use of religion for personal gains whatever the gain may be). I found it immensely interesting and never stopped watching/never sped forward. I wanted to get in their heads, the four guys, that is, of whom we only really see Cheol Jin and Na Han... Much like Save Me and Let's Fight Ghost, David Lee is perfect in this setting/role!! A great surprise was getting to see Moon Sook and Yoo Ji Tae in the final third or so (this made me realize how much YJT's voice has a similar tone/resonance to Ji Jin Hee's)! The fact that someone went through the pains of renting an elephant (what an odd sounding phrase!) is amusing and not the film I would want to be the odd jobs runner for what with all the giant smelly clean ups even just for those hours-and I like elephants, dung aside)!

I could easily enjoy a second viewing of this! It has both focus and depth honestly missing from most Korean films (and most films but especially obvious in SK ones for some reason-whereas their dramas are richly detailed, many films are lacking more than time to tell a good story-they often seem unable to set a pace and find the right amount of detail to make it unusual in a good way but not bogged down with boring mundane stuff. No such boring material existed in this. The twin sister's dharmic shift was beautifully handled start to finish. I will say JP more to avoid spoilers...just know I really liked how it built up, the information used all pertinent but not forced seeming at all. Beautiful graphics and contrasts between vivid and dull colors, between reds and golds and grim murky browns and blacks and bright moon-like blues.
