Yook Dong-Sik (Yoon Si-Yoon) works at a brokerage company. He has a timid personality and he can't even get angry at the people who look down upon him. One day, he witnesses a murder. He accidentally picks up a diary belonging to killer, who is a serial murderer. The diary has a log of his murders. Yook Dong-Sik flees with the diary, but he is accidentally hit by Police Officer Sim Bo-Kyung’s (Jung In-Sun) car. Yook Dong-Sik loses his memory because of the accident. Due to the diary in his possession, Yook Dong-Sik mistakenly believes he is a serial killer. Since that moment, he begins to change. Sim Bo-Kyung, who got involved with Yook Dong-Sik, decides to catch the serial killer.

Meanwhile, Seo In-Woo (Park Sung-Hoon) works as director at the brokerage company where Yook Dong-Sik works. He is heartless and a psychopath serial killer. He has lost the diary in which he detailed his crimes. He now feels insecure.

deana Dec 05 2022 11:52 am psychopath diary is a fun drama. the theme is dark but they make it light and not heavy. i love the villain, seo inwoo. he carried the whole drama. i've watched this drama many times but it's still interesting to watch every scene. kinda sad that it's underrated drama, hopefully people will discover this drama. underrated drama always have the best in every aspect. that's why i preferred watching underrated drama with underrated actor than overrated drama with overrated actor.

seo inwoo my beloved Nov 15 2022 12:06 am 10000/10 I love this series SO much, I finished it months ago and can't get the characters out of my head. The characters are hilarious, unforgettable, and loveable (even the villain) (especially the villain), and the comedy and suspense in this show are top-notch. I'm Obsessed. Every actor bodied their role, especially Yoon Siyoon. His expressions are amazing. Anyway I recommend this show 10000%.

Kdrama Addict Oct 10 2021 2:39 pm The main problem and 'comedy' of this show is that the male protagonist keep thinking that he is a serial killer just becos of one so-called 'his' diary and sometimes even seems to brainwash himself into a cruel serial killer even though in fact by nature he is not such a person. Later he decided not to kill (the socially weak people) again and become a kind good person but still was manipulated by the real serial killer into killing the ex-detective which actually has a little twist revealed later on. I find it hard to watch that epi because I feel so frustrated that he was manipulated successfully by the main villain.

This show maybe not so good for people like me who hates long-dragged misunderstanding till after epi 11. The truth only seems to start showing after that episode. The thug guy who acted as his friend is really funny and remained so loyal to him. I'm glad that his colleagues remained good, kind and friendly to him at the last part of the show and even tried to help clear his name.

As for the old criminal profiler I know right from the beginning that there is something weird about him as he keep hindering in lead gal's profiling. But it was still not revealed why he does that. I mean he never ask for money or anything like that from the serial killer's father after helping him to cover up his son's crimes so I wonder why he did all that to help the evil.

Before that lead protagonists were playing right into the 'game' of the serial killer and he has the upper hand of watching them/listening to their conversation and know what's going on while the protagonists were in the dark not knowing all his schemes.

Kdrama fan Oct 09 2021 1:40 pm Ok so Dong Sik eventually killed the ex detective from being manipulated by the real killer. Don't tell me he won't be sentenced to jail or something because of this? Hard to watch when the the real killer had the upper hand and was even watching and wiretap all their places. As a higher-up director he must be damn free to do all these stuff. And the protagonists are stupid and playing right into the game the real killer created.

Kdrama fan Oct 09 2021 1:26 pm Show is not bad but comedy wise a bit too little and the plot dragged over a long time before the truth and misunderstanding dragged till latter part of the show. For me I hate misunderstandings so it's hard to endure till the latter part of the show when they realised that Dong Shik is not the real killer. A large part of the show just goes on with DS being the "serial killer" when we viewers know that he isn't. The part he was manipulated by the real killer to kill the ex-detective is hard to watch.

SunnieLover Apr 19 2021 4:02 pm This drama is a pool of comedy. I love both sitcom and thrilling type, just this one is too perfect in the plot. Jung In Sun is too pretty, her scenes shine and she is just as cute as a doll. Wish I got a lovely girlfriend like her. But eversince Waikiki, has she sworn to never makr kissing scene again? I would love some little romance between her and Si Yoon in the end, but work work work.. Really did they all worked to the very end? I know there was chemistry of the couple but how could they not become one? Does the director hate love scenes? Too frustrated.. One other thing. What if when Dong Sik just broke out of prison and called the police to threaten Bo Kyung's life, In Woo just kill her right there, then Dong Sik would take the blame again. There are too many holes in the few last episodes, but I happened to enjoy 90% of the drama. You couldnt take your eyes off for the first 5 episodes; its just too good!! This drama is worth watching orver and over. You wouldnt want to forget his funny face and jokes

Le Apr 05 2021 10:35 am Love this drama, there were a lot of comedic scenes which got me laughing non stop especially the scenes with Chilsung. Yoon Shi Yoon’s acting is superb as he played the character yook dong shik so well. I enjoyed watching this drama with his amazing performance. Park Sung Hoon did a great job acting as the psychopath too. Kudos to him as I got goosebumps nearing the last few episodes.

Mika Sep 23 2020 11:08 am What i liked about this is the character development of the male lead... yes, dongshik was dumb to think he’s a psychopath... but i can really see that his character developed. Unlike other kdramas out there, their character stays in the same in the whole course. Dongshik improves and is actually a good example for true character development. Though you’ll need patience for that. :) i salute the writers. This was such a unique idea for a story, and im proud of yoon siyoon for choosing this project.

The show may be annoying in the middle, but every episode was fun and suspenseful.

A 24 year old, a 29 year old, and a 65 year old thoroughly enjoyed this show and the script and the acting.

If you like thriller, with comedy, and lots of suspense that will either annoy you or make you laugh— then try this show. If you’re looking for pure romance and overpowered male lead, this isn’t for you. Dongshik has his flaws (including his innocence being a flaw), but that’s what makes him more human.

Ji Sep 01 2020 8:02 am Yook Dongshik is annoyingly stupid. I mean, there's a difference of being nice and dumb. But surely there are people like that out there. The comedy is fun though. Yoon Shiyoon gave his best in portraying the character. Excellent actor. Love how In woo's character is potrayed as well. A complete psycho. Totally enjoyed the way he was interested in Dongshik the first time as well. One would really think he's in love.

If you don't get the humour it won't do it for you but if you do you are in for a super fun ride! Yoon Si Yoon is outrageous here!!! So glad that I have many more episodes to watch!

Sara Jun 29 2020 6:15 am I can actually understand why the ratings for this drama was so low. It’s incredibly annoyingly slow and they made the main character such a dummy. Like seriously, I loved him so much in hit the top watching him play such an idiot is so annoying. So he thought he was a serial killer from one diary (unrealistic, but we’ll take it coz it’s a drama), but have him believe he was and actually try to act it out by deciding he should kill anyone he had a disagreement with despite going against his natural feeling and tendencies and then dragging that on for so long in the first couple of episodes; too much yo = Low rating warranted ??‍♀️ I’m on ep 7 and getting tired of waiting for there to be some sort of major development, got me playing games on my ph while watching coz I know I wont miss out on much ?. Not sure if I’ll be able to hang in there till the end..

It starts with the premise of what if a donkey wears a lions skin. What if you lose your memory and are told you were originally evil. Will the subconscious self assert itself or will it adopt the new image. The actors did a great job.This is one drama worth a rewatch.

Vishek May 21 2020 5:17 pm Generally I was both addicted and interested throughout the drama and it never felt boring. It's psychological crime drama mixed in with comedy and a bit of romance.

The main male lead is also by far takes up most of the screen time and this is good if you like cute guys. He's a good actor and though there are cringe moments these appear to be scripted in to make you laugh. I find that his acting is to convey this cute/funny guy that everyone likes and can also sympathize with a bit, and he does it well.

However, I wish so many Korean dramas were's obsessed with the damsel in distress, which is predictable and annoying. This movie isn't an all out bloody horror drama, which I like, but it was still enjoyable.

This drama was so hilarious, maybe some will find it boring in the first few episodes but it was actually great till the last episode. The actors played their roles very well esp yoon shi yoon and park sung hoon, their acting was superb, i love it everytime YSY rolled his eyes lol. The only off abt this drama is the antagonist poor decision in the latter part. It is well written drama and wll give you a good laugh! Must watch!

I was scared to watch this because of the title Psychopath, but my boyfriend thought the description was interesting since he likes thrilling shows, so we decided to watch it! And we had so much laugh while watching!!! YSY should get an award. He can play different roles! A pushover, a sweet man, a psychopath. And he really looks like a psychopath when he wants to be. He really looks innocent when he wants to be too. The story is also really interesting! My boyfriend praised the villain too! One of the best villains ! Must waaaatch! You’ll regret it if you don’t. Unless of course you don’t like comedy mixed with thriller!

The amnesia track has been used so much in dramas that it can be so predictable but i found myself on my toes not knowing what will happen next in each episode. Such a fresh and creative storyline presentation, the writer means busniess. All the actors did an amazing job. Special mention to Yoon Si Yoon and Park Sung Hoon who did a lovely job. I totally loved Seo In Woo that i found myself laughing with him even though it was creepy and amazed by his plans and actions though wrong..i just couldnt hate him and rooted for him. Dong Sik was a delight, funny and sweet and Bo Kyung was also great. As a romance lover, i still found this drama aopealing and dont think it lacks anything at all despite the lack of romance in this drama. The comedy, thrill and suspense are more than enough satisfaction.

1. Your Honor. It's good drama. But, we dont get conclusion of main character's family problem. They just finished the romantic problem. Disappointed.

2. Nokdu Flower. It's actually so amaaazzziiing drama ever. I never skip every second. But, it's sad ending for yoon shi yoon character. I dont wikeee ittt !!

for those who think that some actions and decisions by seo inwoo are really unlike him towards the later half of the drama, i would like to think that it’s just him gradually ‘losing it’ ever since knowing that yook dong sik was just a pushover while he initially genuinely thought he found someone else like him + it’s also bc of how subsequently yook dong sik found out the truth and started getting stronger despite him being a pushover to begin with. basically seo inwoo just got more and more angry/unsatisfied with whatever was happening, that’s why his character had to change a little. just my thoughts! :)

I honestly was pretty sure this drama was about Seo In Woo and Dong Shik both, I thought In Woo would win in the end or at least escape and flee or anything like that. Him making many mistakes in the last episodes and getting tricked by Dong Shik many times which finally lead to him getting caught. I was surprised.

I understand why the story was written that way, cause the villain needs to pay for the crimes, I get that but.. He's very intelligent, meticulous as we've seen before, he just wouldn't be fooled that many times by Dong Shik. He should've caught on that Dong Shik is playing his own game against him. Also... XD ..I know it's a visual effect-- But if he just would have pulled the damn trigger faster Bo Kyung would be dead, and he could've gone and killed Dong Shik aswell, Why did he run out of the room even, im so confused :D He wasn't that dumb before. Just. Move. Faster. He knows the cops are coming.

Also later when he escapes the hospital wouldn't he have gone to get stronger first before going without a care to kill Dong Shik with a MINIATURE knife. He knows he can't outrun people in his condition.

Maybe I'm overbiased but I think some weird decisions were made with Seo In Woos character in the last two episodes, also I'm not really judging I'm just feeling sad that he didn't escape and had to go through what he did even tho his coping mechanisms were somewhat.. unordinary XD So I wanna whine, I actually understand why it's necessary to write the story the way it was written.

And for conclusion yes I loved the drama. It's amazing.❤

April Jan 09 2020 7:53 pm This drama is exciting and fun from beginning to end. There is no "2 years later" ending and no open ending. There are no boring episodes that you just need to get through when the writer is trying to draw the story out longer and no side character storylines that you want to fast forward through. It's just a roller coaster of enjoyment and entertainment! One of the best Korean dramas out there. Unique and wonderful. I wish more Korean dramas were this good!

Although the character development begins at an even space, this reinforces the core of the person represented and makes their "alter egos" so hilarious and/or intimidating. Yoon Si-Yoon and Park Sung-Hoon skillfully present innocent and menacing images that redefine how one's inner character is camouflaged or revealed. Jung In-Sun's task of maintaining the stabilizing lead is not a easy. Kudos to the supporting staff for bringing the eclectic feel to this show. A huge debt of gratitude to the writing staff who bring in abstract and everyday references. There is not a single episode that does not elicit grins and laughter...

Shin haera Jan 03 2020 9:34 am I'm absolutely in love with the drama. Every actor chemistry is fun to watch,they seriously played their role very well. I'm really frustated to see that the ratings are very low as this series is one of the best i have ever seen. I mean there are not really much Kdrama that doesn't have romance in it and still get to captivate the viewers (although i suspect towards the ending dongsik will probably fell with bokyung as she is always there for him. Seriously yoon si yoon is a very talented actor (i mean how can he switch personality in a second from very timid to a psycopath). Seeing the characters' real personality opposes from what people expect of them is really thrilling. Last but not least, i may have fallen in love with the real serial killer(that's messed up i know) but he became like that because of growing up having to fight for his father's attention breaks my heart. So to people out there who haven't watch it, go watch it you cowards!

The main character is too naive (like, he remember every movie he watched, but not a damn memorie about his life?) and doesn't seems to have any sign of mental evolution/devlopement since the first episode and it start to become lame to just watch the evil wins without anyone to face him...

The mc isn't smart contrasting the smart and cunning psychopath. it's a fresh approach to have a male lead of timid nature and it certainly adds to the comedic part. yoon si-yoon often plays funny roles and adds comedy to the mix. and even though he isn't the brightest, he still makes unpredictable moves. his character is unique.

I could now foresee how psychopath thinks and how manipulative they are.. natasha Dec 18 2019 11:39 pm wow i must say the writer is very creative. the plot is amazing, how it keep going in each episode. no dragging at all. but one thing that im frustrated about is just how innocent dong sik is hahah no psychopath would be so warm-hearted like him ?? i will say that dong sik won’t kill anyone at all but will be wrongly accused of being the predator killer. im curious on how the writer will make the plot at the very end unfolds! sad how the rating of this drama is so low ? this is one of the best dramas of 2019 for me! :(

go fighting Dec 18 2019 11:23 am i was bored as i finished other kdrama and wanted to watching something different. i saw this one, wow its must watch and thrilling with comedy. lol. both the actor and villain are psychopath in this one. if anything don't know this drama. i recommend you to watch this. it is entertaining. just only ep1 is slow but you will get the idea.

The title in itself is a thriller but never expect it to be a comedy and it's so funny. This is the first drama that I don't want the real psychopath to get arrested. I mean I like the chemistry between dong shik and the real psychopath. What a shame he is a serial killer.

nobi Dec 07 2019 5:10 am he's psychopathic but has a lot of fear? he basically acts out because deep inside he is afraid. according to studies, psychopaths tend to have little fear or distress that's why they cannot automatically emphatise with people's pain and feelings and only if they 'want' to (like a switch). yes, they do feel fear but it is greatly reduced compared to a normal person and would no to less feel startled if someone suprises them. so i'm quite confused with this drama, his drive to kill people is rooted from fear of becoming weak just like what his father has said so maybe he is not a psychopath after all, just an unloved child.
