In the present day, Jang Bong-Hwan works as a chef at the President's Blue House. He has a free spirit, but his spirit somehow finds its way into the body of Queen Kim So-Yong (Shin Hye-Sun) in the Joseon period.

King Cheoljong (Kim Jung-Hyun) has secrets. He seems like a figurehead, who is gentle and easygoing. In fact, he hides his strong aspects. Queen Sunwon (Bae Jong-Ok) is the late King Sunjo’s wife. She wields the true power in the country and, thus, relegates King Cheoljong as just a figurehead. Kim Jwa-Geun (Kim Tae-Woo) is Queen Sunwon’s younger brother. He is extremely ambitious.

The actors are so good, even with the latest episode, I was impressed with the child's acting. I'm very excited for the next episode, I have to wait for the week to end again! I love the series related to royal kitchen... that is cooking skills and different dishes. Full of humor that you can stop laughing. Highly recommended when you can just stay at home these days. Long waiting for the release of next episodes.

I even spend time to view the MV that capture the highlights with wonderful songs.

As for the child, I don't think she is dead. The crossed fingers of the king's indicated that he was lying about all that he said. Gosh, I am so relieved and excited.???

I love this series. I love their love(the king and queen)... can they just release the remaining episodes? ?

Yul17a Jan 25 2021 3:46 am My gosh... Its been long time I don't feel like this about Kdrama. I kinda have lots criteria in liking drama, but this one feel refreshing!!! Both main lead is so good at delivering their chemistry, no one over shadowing other. The other casts also good being comical, which made this drama humorous & worth my anticipation every weekend.

So much admiration for kim jung hyun and shin hye sun for their excellent performances. I doubt anybody could do it better than them. ? Still looking forward on what is still to unfold in this amazing series. ??

Props to Shin Hye Sun for being such a versatile actress, she really succeed in potraying a man in a woman body!! I cant help laughing when watching the drama, the Queen, the King and Choi Maid are the stars of the drama!! Would easily recommend this drama to anyone!!

But the last episode is a blast,i didnt expect that to happend. Can't wait till saturday. Its a masterpiece in my opinion. Highly recommended.

Romance, betrayal, friendship rolled up lightly in a comedic delivery really hooked me for more. I can’t wait for the rest of the episodes to be released and I’ll be watching it again. Kudos to the director, scriptwriter, actors/actresses and the rest of the team.

To know her husband tried to slaughter her its natural for him to jump in and protect her. I still cant forgive king trying to kill a weak woman out of all hordes of corrupt kim clan men. I wud rather see soyoung marying cousin and leaving king behind. Also king knows he is a puppet and weilds no influence so why is trying to become real king and punching above weight. Either gain power then act tough or just remain silent as a puppet.

And of course, I do really recommend watching this, it's not the usual Kdrama you watch. The cast, the storyline, and the staffs hardwork. it's really a 10/10 watch!

But I'm afraid that King Cheoljong will die at the end as the history written. Hope that they'll end the show with a happy ending not like Scarlet Heart: Moon Lovers.

treannah Jan 17 2021 7:37 am This drama was likeable at first and i hope it changes soon, cause the last 4 episodes is just a repetitive sequences of events, just in a diffent order each time!!! they have their romatic/off moments, 2nd FL gets disappointed by the king, queen gets fed with modern day gormets and weird dreams from ML/FL...all this and the plot is dragged so slow to the point that im only watching this for the comedic bickering between the leads! (up to ep.10)

Elated to see it has 20 episodes intead of 16 Jan 10 2021 9:18 pm This is my happy pill every weekend. Just a piece of advice. This drama has so many elements, do not just focus on the "love story". What the King said is true, he must not fall in love with the queen. They do have a history when they were young. And the real queen indeed loves the king. Maybe they do have a chance. But currently, the queen is Chef Jang. So unless the queen and Cheng Jang is the same spirit (concept of reincarnation), the king is falling in love with chef jang and not Kim So-Yong.

They are the two evil people, who tried to kill the Queen. Queen Dowager is the who put a curse on the queen. I am glad the queen is awake and well, this drama has so many surprises, you never knows what is going to happen next. I really enjoyed episodes 1,2,3,4, 5, 6 and 7 .

I hope that it doesn't just start out hilarious in the beginning and towards the end completely depressing. I hope the writers can still somehow keep the balance between comedy and mystery/political/romance.

Choi Jin Hyuk is also eye catching in ep 1, his personality and traits transmutes into Shin Hye Sun. They are both brilliant actors, I love watching their dramas!

I honestly feel for the Queens old self. I doubt she’ll come back (her real self is probably dead or something) but she had a really hard time. She was just a pawn like the king and forced into a marriage where her husband didn’t even like her and openly showed his hatred for her. Poor girl she seriously deserved better. Honestly I’m not shipping her new self with the king. I’m shipping her with Kim Byeong In.

The irony of people here either calling this show too gay or not gay enough. In my opinion, this set up ( the transmigrated male is so fearless and smart while the female queen was not; he will stay alpha male, no romantic scenes ) is a ...misogyny and goes against the original Go Princess show’s spirit completely. The original had shown us the struggles, the humiliation of a guy who suddenly became a female. He wasn’t that capable in a queen role, and had to pay the price of losing his dignity and life. The Korean show Still, the original drama was so sexy and silly that we didn’t care.

Rang Dec 20 2020 9:53 am It's not over until it's over. This is definitely my second favorite story of 2020! I love this so much, it has everything I need. In the recent episodes, I really felt sad for the real queen. It seems like she was unhappy, it made me think back to the first episode where Mr Chef drowned and the queen kissed him like she saves him — it does the same to her, he saves her. I hope the king learns to love the queen even if starts with Mr Chef being her at the moment. Though, it's still early in the series. Nothing is for sure yet and a lot can happen. Go, Mr Queen!

Interesting concept to tackle, especially in Korea where they seem more Christian and less likely to embrace ideas of reincarnation and dual identity.

She’s one of the few k actress I like. I’m loving the story too it does so ridiculous but it’s going to be so interesting too. And damn... the Bae jong ok from Graceful family is here too daebak!

KJH a figurehead and Bae Jong Ok the power, yep... sounds exactly right (I'd be crazy intimidated by her past or present lol)... of course it's a free-spirited chef who is going to go there and woo the king with delicious meals and lord... I can only imagine the rest. I admit I like dopey Kim Tae Woo best-the endearing sweet one-but okay, let him be an ambitious king wannabe only for the young queen to confuse him thoroughly! :)
