Great Expectations/ep. 1-17 Plot Synopsis
- ep. 1 Kang Hyun-sae (Kim Jae-won) is involved in a gang. Without any dreams or hopes, he wastes his youth on a day-to-day basis. While carrying out a mission for his boss, he has his first encounter with Mi-rae.
- ep. 2 Hyun-sae's mother leaves behind a large inheritance for Hyun-sae which is the kindergarten that she owned. Hyun-sae vows to sell this kindergarten which enrages Ko Ah-ra (Lee Mi-sook), Mi-rae and a number of workers. Ah-ra decides to pay a visit to a lawy
- ep. 3 Mi-rae is on a bike and gives Hyun-sae a piece of her mind. Later on, however, she finds that she has no place to go and pedals her way to Ah-ra's house. She finds that the house is completely empty.
- ep. 4 Hyun-sae's mother never knew that Hyun-sae was a gangster. The fact that Hyun-sae is involved in organized crime results in his inability to inherit the property. Ah-ra confronts Hyun-sae and tells him to give up on the kindergarten.
- ep. 5 Mi-rae meets Shi-wan and the two rekindle the flame in their hearts. Mi-rae begins to open her heart to Shi-wan. Hyun-sae notices this and feels frustrated.
- ep. 6 Mi-rae visits Ah-ra and demands that Hyun-sae has to be removed from the kindergarten. Ah-ra tells her that if it is revealed that Hyun-sae is a gangster, the kindergarten will be placed in severe jeopardy.
- ep. 7 Hyun-sae visits Dong-pa and expresses his interest in participating in the construction of the Theme Park. Hyun-sae offers a more lucrative position at another kindergarten to Ah-ra but she views him with suspicious eyes.
- ep. 8 Mi-rae hears that Hyun-sae was on his best behavior during the main event because of her and the children. Yoo-jung gives Hyun-sae tickets to her music performance. Hyun-sae continues to get strong requests from others around him not to sell the kindergar
- ep. 9 For Mi-rae's sake, Hyun-sae endures a violent attack from the gangster. Mi-rae feels emotional pain over Hyun-sae's courageous actions.
- ep. 10 After it is fully revealed that Hyun-sae is involved in gangs, children are removed from the kindergarten by their parents. Even teachers at the kindergarten decide to leave.
- ep. 11 As the kindergarten is surrounded in smoke, Hyun-sae courageously runs inside to save Mi-rae and the children. After Mi-rae awakens in the hospital, she only worries about Hyun-sae, which enrages Shi-wan.
- ep. 12 After receiving orders to have the kindergarten shut down, the hearts of the staff of the kindergarten are filled with sorrow. Hyun-sae does all he can to prevent this, but Ah-ra ends up leaving the kindergarten.
- ep. 13 Hyun-sae hears the truth about Dong-pa from Nal-chi. To save the kindergarten, Hyun-sae decides to sell his house. The staff of the kindergarten also supports Hyun-sae in his efforts to save the facility.
- ep. 14 Dong-pa is upset at Hyun-sae for his betrayal. Hyun-sae returns to the kindergarten and worries about the safety of Mi-rae and the children.
- ep. 15 Mi-rae hears from Dong-pa that Hyun-sae is trying to get rid of the kindergarten. Mi-rae does not believe these words. Meanwhile, Hyun-sae visits Dong-pa with important papers to save Mi-rae.
- ep. 16 Hyun-sae makes a presentation on the Theme Park and finds out who was behind the fire at the kindergarten. The kindergarten is scheduled to be torn down but Hyun-sae prays to find the culprits of the fire beforehand.
- ep. 17 Hyun-sae gets the important papers on the kindergarten back from Dong-pa. The culprits of the fire are also revealed. Hyun-sae finally reveals his true feelings for Mi-rae.
