Natsume Mochizuki (Nana Komatsu) works as a teen model in Tokyo, but she learns that she has to move to her father's hometown of Ukigumo. She is in a desperate situation because she can't do the things she wants to do in Ukigumo. One day, she meets Koichiro Hasegawa (Masaki Suda). He is the successor of the Hasegawa family. His family is wealthy and is respected in the area. Natsume Mochizuki and Koichiro Hasegawa become attracted to each other, but something changes their fate.

The story is very precious. I wish those who didn't understand the movie would say what confused them because the movie didn't confuse me at all.

Mistakenly watched Drowning Love testing my patience watched the whole movie in the hope that the next scene would make sense, but disappointed. Today I dared to watch Hot Gimmick: Girl Meets Boy by the same director and learned an important lesson to check reviews before attempting to watch any J-movie from now on.

The Art For This Manga Is Breath Taking however this movie did 0 justice even the cinematography is shit and this art has been turned into a low budget film. An anime would have been phenomenal to see. Asakura's pieces are so beautiful and well detailed such a pity perhaps in the future we might get an anime.

janie Aug 09 2019 6:01 pm Can someone please tell me what is the name of the song that starts playing after Mr.Hironou tells Natsume he's not interested in taking pictures of her and Natsume runs off. Natsume tells Otomo that he should go home by himself and runs off to cry on some weird concrete steps and this song starts playing. On kissassian the song plays in the movie at minute 71-ish or 1:11:16.

Please tell me what the name of the song is!

I really felt their sincerity and dedication for this. Sadly, the story really put all the effort down. I think the actors and their skills were wasted, I first thought the movie was so awesome and it sent shivers down my spine. In the end, it actually confused the heck out of me. WHAT HAPPENED?

I want Nana-chan and Suda-kun to be in the same movie again...but, in a much better one. PLEASE!

Ir Mar 25 2019 12:11 am They wasted a great set of cast, the movie itself is confusing, I had no idea what was happening from the start to the end. The cuts are awkward and they focused too much on aesthetics. The movie didnt justify how great the manga was. I'll probably watch this again next time, hopefully itll make sense by then.

mika Feb 07 2019 2:45 pm i'm a long time fan of the manga and only watched the film adaptation now. i don't think it did justice to some of the themes (the god worship natsume had for kou + how heartbreaking the breakup actually was) but i am super glad they did well with ootomo's characterization. the cast members were great at acting, the soundtrack was excellent, and the colors were amazing. 7 years since i first heard the story and it still hurt like hell. remains my favorite tale of juvenile love - mostly because it rang so true!!!!

アラ Oct 22 2018 12:41 pm I'm sorry but I was so confused at least 60% of the movie ? things slowly started sinking in after more than an hour. But Nana & Suda's acting were good. I also like the cinematography. I especially like the part where Ohtomo & Natsume were teasing each other about their eyebrows. I felt the sincerity of the scene. Ugh my heart melted ? but the depth of this movie is as deep as the sea they were diving. Srsly.

Prim Dec 07 2017 5:45 am Can't stop laughing while watching this movie. I remembered watching "Today, I Will Date Yesterday's You" and having this same kind of confusion. This is her second movie that gave me such headache. Hahahahahahaha I mean, don't get me wrong. I love Nana. Really, I do. I'm a fan. Hahahaha the first twenty, I felt like I was chasing some kind of runner athlete. Everything's happening so fast. And then Nana and Suda will start running and chasing each other out of nowhere. And then, boom! There's that scene with the softdrink then JAWDROP! Hahahahaha. I'm gonna watch this again, so wish me luck. I hope I can understand this after.

But OH God, watch his acting, he is superb and charismatic. He also loses weight just for this movie. I'm waiting for your next live action adaptation of Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun to show next year. Sudacchi, you really deserve to be the #1 National Ikemen Treasure of this year. ?

Not because the movie was bad or something...it is actually a kind of movie that leaves you wanting for more because you want to understand it so badly...they are so mysterious especially the guy in this story. Anyway, I had a good laugh because at the ending I didn't understand a thing about it. Like was the scene just a hallucanation? I was really confused but regardless I like this one.

If you haven't watched the movie trust me and watch it now it might be a little confusing and new to some but it's really enjoyable and i don't regret watching it

Yes, angle shots are useful as well, not just for aesthetic sake. I also love the emphasis of the elements, it just shows us the intensity of the characters feelings!!!!

Btw I love the pairing as well, both are really good actor and actresses especially Nana. She's becoming more exceptional in time!

I also have grown to love Masaki Suda. How can he be so handsome and all depsite being weird and violent. Lol. Not your usual shoujo!

(#PsychologicalRomance) Since it's Shojo, most people expect for sweet ending, but this film leads people to sad reality :) The movie title already speak for itself ... :) Camera angles ? Maybe that's Yamato Yuki's Different Style :) I really love it, I expect more movies like this in the future ... PS. natsume and otomo's sweet moments ughhh... I love it.

Anej0019 Jun 29 2017 8:45 am i waited for so loooong for the release of the translation and i never been so confused and disappointed. i read the manga beforehand to catch a glimpse of the story but then theres no ending yet. Besides nana is the lead here which is one of my favorite actress in Japan. Acting is great, scenic views are good but the camera angles are so bad. sometimes i am wondering what are their emotion specially in that secret house. they are throwing the scenes in random at the end so i will make you wonder. wait whats happening? then boom its the end. 2 over 5 but then at least gives you an idea about the title.

NanaUy Jan 14 2017 7:47 am Nana Komatsu really does suited to this Role of Natsume, because of what she usually have in this kind of expression in real life. But I can imagine how cool and amazing it is if Hiroya Shimizu is Koichiro in this Movie, 'cause Hiroya has that cool aura too.^^

I think he's not that handsome in this film but he made me want to watch the teaser again and again till more than 200 times. The teaser also made me read the manga and become Masaki Suda's fans. The manga is so beautiful and i felt the same feeling about Kou and Masaki Suda in this film. They're so charismatic. I'm so happy Masaki Suda become Kou... Nana Komatsu also captivated me in the trailer. She's so beautiful but not because her face but something else that i don't know what. The same feeling when i saw Natsume in manga. I am so captivated by those two.
