AR Rahman Jan 26 2021 2:39 am very good sci fi story, very interesting to see Seolhyun on non-romance drama. Feel sad because the twin bro-sis can't be live together, they didnt meet for a long time, also maybe with her mother. Perharps writer-nim would like to show us the character of Jungwoo how he protect her sister and family with his own way.

The storyline didn't have much Jungwoo and Dr. Jamie (bro-sis relationship) scene after 13th episode, not as much as on 2nd/3rd episode. I thought they are might be couple but its more than i expected.

For Lee Chung Ah, nowadays she become more mature in her drama beside her old drama. I looking forward to her next project.

They treat Jungwoo and Jaewoong so badly until the very end.

At least if Jungwoo haunted by his guilt over his mother's crime, made him ALIVE normally and let him "pay" her mother's crime by take care of her crazy mother in hospital / jail. Also, Jungwoo could've done it whilst take care over Jaewoong in the jail. Jungwoo could live quietly either continuing as a police or work with K

Mio Jan 21 2021 12:22 pm I think the most interesting aspect of Awaken is that writer very cleaverly tried to avoid korean tv broadcast censorship. Main character, Jung Woo is morally ambiguous and many his actions from moral point of view is questionable. But he doesn't show too much regrets because of that. And writer shows that and hides that at the same time. SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the episode in which we found out that Jung Woo wasn't really murderer, it is also said that he knew victims beforehand and modus operandi of murderer. In other words, he could completely prevent these murders if he really wanted. He didn't because it suit his plans against fundation and he probably didn't really wanted exposed 3rd child because he would be in danger. Especially in case of drowning and fire, he pretty much was accompliced of murderer. But this isn't really shown directly so viewers have to notice that themselves.

Second thing is night of tragedy in White foundation village. In one episode Jung Woo explained dr. Leighton that they didn't really want to kill adults in the village but persuade them to help with escaping. And they were so bad that during lucid dream they started to killed eachother. From the beginning this was kind strange explanation because 3rd child used similar method to kill people but it took him time to make that happened (therapy). And final kind confirmed that when we found out that Jung Woo has second personality which has psychic abilities. It was him who said monologue during tragedy of White foundation village in which he said "I did it". In other words it was probably him who was responsible for massacre ( he influenced lucid dreams of people). Probably Jung Woo didn't want to say true to dr. Leigton because she would feel remorse. But again it was something which viewers have to think yourself.

And to sensible viewer: it was said that Jung Woo had some kind psychic power in case of understanding of human body. Like he could see inside of people. That's what we could understand from his conversations with his mother in the past when he knew how professionally help some child.Also as a child he read medical books.

YSJEONG Jan 21 2021 4:27 am To begin, I would give awaken 8.9/10 ,, In my opinion, this is one of the best thriller kdramas ive watched -- it was quite a new concept to me (someone who is an avid lover of such action/mystery/thriller kdramas) and i thoroughly enjoyed it.

really kudos to directors & writers and of course (in my opinion) the star studded cast! big shoutout especially to the main 4 :") namgoong min, lee chung ah, yoon sun woo and seolhyun! they really nailed each character and propelled the plot forward with their talented acting and chemistry! although sun woo really lacked screentime, sadly ,, that being said I hope more people would come to realise yoonsunwoos potential as actor & I'm saying this because of his lack in screentime which I felt didn't really allow him to show all that he's got :') namgoong min, as expected from this experienced king !! he really brought out do jung woo perfectly as a rather eccentric yet intelligent character, whilst allowing jung woo to remain kinda ambiguous :") lee chungah always surprises me with her spectrum in acting! she really performed once again in awaken with her wit and professionalism! seolhyun imo did amazing, her expressions were really on point even tho her vocalization may have been a bit lacking at times BUT w the amount of experience she has, i honestly feel she did rly well :)

this drama was truly suspenseful and enjoyable (with many comical moments too!) with just enough plot twists, not a lot as that would throw watchers off but just the right number of plot twists at the right time! -- this really kept me hooked onto the entire series! there were also many thought-provoking moments which allowed watchers to continuously have lingering questions, which of course were answered as the series progressed, hence I really enjoyed this about awaken (yes ik many other dramas do have such moments too but this just added on to why i loved this series so much!) :) however, there were a few gaps which kinda threw me, for eg, the informant played by jo hye won, her character just suddenly disappeared haha which made me wonder if they could've weaved her character into the plot further even though she was a minor character ,, the amount of romance was rly little and rather subtle imo -- although it was lowkey awkward at times, it wasn't too much or too forced so it was alright overall :) the hard work of all the cast was truly evident in the end product and i cant be more than grateful for everyone who made such an amazing series possible!

tvn didn't really promote this series as much as I feel it could have (like how it is doing with true beauty aha) BUT I enjoyed all the behind-the-scenes/makings, commentary (although it was only for eps 1-4 :( was really looking forward to more) and the barista episodes (where lee shin young & yoon sun woo were baristas for a while (separate episodes) and made coffee for the staff & cast), these were really cute moments to witness, esp the bts which were amusing and heartwarming :"), filled with moments of the cast caring for each other & valuable interactions!

all in all, would recommend this series as a must-watch, in fact, i myself might even rewatch it in time to come :) + namgoong min really deserves another daesang this yr for this haha, in fact this entire drama should earn a daesang!

MINJOO Jan 20 2021 5:24 pm this is a well-made drama with plausible ending. eventhough the whole story is slow-paced and they keep letting us to know 'what happened' before the character find out, i love how they didn't easily tell us the main core of the story. there are pretty much plot twist, and i keep brainstorming while watching every episodes. they also give justice to the supporting role, the portion of each role is enough i think, except for jaewoong, the drug dealer, and the informant girl. for jaewoong, it's kinda disappointed knowing he's one of a main cast but he lack of screentime though he's a potential character, i think, there are so much things they can provide us about him, like maybe developing the relationship between him and other main role, or explain more about the motive for his murder action. for the drug dealer, it's kinda sad knowing his role just died like that, and i think the informant girl shouldn't just disappeared, it would be great if she team up with jiwook or something.

another a bit uncomfortable things for me are, sometimes some scene transitions are not that smooth, and some scenes in early episodes lacks bgm or sound effects which makes it less lively and kinda boring(?)

for acting; as expected from, namgoong min (he brought me here hehe) the versatile actor and king of range, he nailed every scene and i really love his chemistry with every character, especially lee chungah (lowkey want to see them act together again in another project, maybe as a couple? xixi). also, i think there are so much things jamie can do better than this but they refuse to show us:( for seolhyun, she also did great despite so many things that happened before this drama aired, i'm so proud of her. just one thing i don't like from her role is, i think rather than give us hyewon's arc about her one-sided(?) love to jungwoo, it's better to show us more bro-sis moments between jamie and jungwoo or jamie and jaewoong. yeah, it's better to not give us any love line at all.

but overall, i highly recommend this drama, it's 8,7/10 from me. kinda sad the ratings aren't that high...

The first lead female character maybe seen a bit lacking, but I forgive that because of the actress is Seol Hyun (damnson, she so pretty ^_^).

This drama is good, but I prefer the romantic scene a bit more heavy and the moments of brother-sister more deep. They not see each other for a long time, so I really want to see more their brother-sister moments. For the romance, I really want more because, Namkoong Min is my favorite actor and Seol Hyun is really pretty.

scarletsungrok Jan 19 2021 7:40 pm okay, so i’ll have to say, i was pleasantly surprised. online, this drama has the genre “Romance”, but this drama doesn’t have much romance at all. the romance arc was the only thing i disliked about this drama, and i was afraid they would force more romance into the drama, but thankfully it stayed very minimal (almost nonexistent honestly). the ending has lots of potential for a second season, if they did produce one (keeping romance very minimal once again), i would be eager to watch it !! overall, i’d give it a 8.5/10, some scenes did seem a little whatt and kind of cheesy, but it was a pretty good thriller :)

Yes, it's the same eccentric Namgoong Min style on the outside but in this series, he's actually haggard, looking like hell, vengeful and dead serious. In contrast to Mangager Kim, his character is eccentric, but light and funny. I cannot comment on his other roles tho but I can on Manager Kim.

Look at the eyes and you get a feel on the character.

It's like the intelligent of GM Baek with facial expression and personality of Chief Kim, however, there's no over-the-top and crazy side of Chief Kim. That's what I feel for this one LOL

I really love lee chung ah l,, her charisma and she is so pretty and cool ? her acting and character is also way better than seolhyun. I used to like SH in aoa but bc of the bully case i felt disappointed:-( nam goong min is cool too and acted well! Jung woo jamie got more chemistry and i enjoy seeing them together!

I hope there will be reunited scene of 112,113 and 157 where they all take revenge together! 157 hoepfully is not that evil and he is just taking revenge. Jamie has a more important role than hye won and maybe if jamie is first lead would mean more. (Jung woo’s “i will protect u” to jamie was so cute)

Another mistake this drama made was that they let us know what happened first before the characters know.. so wasted a bit of time of them finding out and not as exciting for audience.

BUT nice story and so excited for next!

Arguably the most impressive element of this drama is the acting, especially that of Namkoong Min, Chung-Ah and Kyung-Ho. It is unfathomable why its ratings aren't high.

treannah Dec 26 2020 6:06 pm This drama is alright, draggy in the suspense side and ok in the romance section. Story wise is quite stupid how they figured out the murderer could be the 3rd child!...lol (duh...ML is 1 , Jamie is 2...pretty obvious whos left) and it took up to episode 8 to figure that out!?!?!...lol. Acting is expected from this star studded entourage....people complaining about their acting skills is like saying Jim Carey will be the next Batman or putting Yoo In Na as a FL/martial artist...their acting is set in stone and will be well known for their expression/acting/performance for certain drama/movie genres. Were half way and i think all the slow build-up has surpassed for a late half great expectation (fingers crossed) and hope it goes off with a bang for 2021 :)

I love the plot, characters and all of the actor/ess. Guys if you don’t like thriller genre or the actor/ess in drama just don’t put yourself to get hating on it. It doesn’t make sense. At first I was shipping Jamie and Jung woo too but it’s kinda obvious that’s not what the writer wants. Jae Woong is so cute and his character is very interesting just like Jamie’s character. For now he’s the most interesting and I’m so shipping him with Jamie their interaction are just so cute and mind blowing.

The minimum of Ava Dec 21 2020 3:49 pm Here's some tips for me:

1. This drama has romance. So for you that are a lil anti of thriller/mystery mixed with romance, better run away from now.

2. This drama is intriguing (the plot is somehow unique), but it's a bit slow-paced and that makes it kinda tired to follow.

3. For you who ask, the fl is Seolhyun. She get the loveline with ml.

4. Up to ep 7, we only have very little of Moon Jae Woong (who's more interesting in my pov).

5. Jamie is more interesting, but I think Seolhyun has more power over this drama (because she's the fl, she's the love interest *yawn*).

6. The ending could be melodrama with ml dying and fl realizing she has a (hmm) criminal father and her crush is (kinda) not normal (if he really has some supernatural power or stuff).

7. Drop it? Not drop it?

MN2020 Dec 18 2020 4:51 pm I Want Jung Woo and Jamie are the Main Pair-up& End-Up, I Dnt care if Hye Won iis only the 3rd party of the plot since, Namkoong Min and Lee Jung Ah are more fit in age in really life which is 30's and 40's while Hye Won is still in her 20's whiwhich makes her more compatible w/ Moon Jae-Woong in the story plot. I Want The Childbood friends will end up together, after Jamie fully remembered her past.

scarletsungrok Dec 14 2020 2:23 pm I'm on episode 3 and I definitely think this drama doesnt need a romance arc. The plot is already so interesting, and tbh the romance arc ruins the thrilling mood, and it also feels out of place in such a dark plot based drama. NGM doesn't even have good chemistry with the FL, and the whole thing seems a little childish. I would rather see the characters seek answers than see them flirt. Normally I am a fan of romance-mystery dramas, but this one just doesn't mix. I still think this drama is good and has lots of potential. Anyone else feel this way?

Also, my boy Sun Woo! awesome acting, his character is making me cry, he deserves justice! TT

Now rooting for my girl Lee Chung Ah, watching her in the hospital is torturing me :( So it's true that the loveline is between DJW and Hyewon. Okay romance, step aside, you're placed in the wrong fate, you're just not interesting. I still don't know about Jaewoong and Modu, why is it his screen time so short?

The chemistry between Do Jung-Woo and Jamie Leighton is stronger than that between Do Jung-Woo and Gong Hye-Won, but I don't really care much about the romance arc. I'm more interested in the storyline, the mystery, thrill, and all. They keep me glued to the screen episode after episode.

In earlier episodes Do Jung Woo and Jamie's sudden closeness really gave me hope, but shattered immediately after ep 4. Wishes aside, this drama is enjoyable. They has their fair share of mystery and comedy, with a little bit of romance.

Moonlight Dec 10 2020 1:24 pm I think this story is based on Go Hyewon's story. As we can see that only Hyewon's part got narration. And i assumed Hyewon's is a key (maybe cheat key) to the whole story. Also maybe to White Night Village case. Anyway, it seems like Team Leader Do like Hyewon too. And judging from their scene together in car, it seems like Team Leader Do protect Hyewon or know something that related to Hyewon. I wonder what is character Go Hyewon role in this drama and that get me excited. This drama pretty good meh! And also i love it when Dr Jamie noticed the temperature between them and left for 3 minutes (+3 seconds)? hahahahah and it is funny. Seems like our smart Dr Jamie caught the love first before us ????

Lee Chungah Dec 10 2020 5:46 am I forgot to leave a comment on here when the drama first aired but I'm so proud of my girl, Chungah! She's such an underrated actress and I hope she gains more attention from this. I don't think I need to even praise NGM because his acting is always top tier and I like his character in this. I've seen so many people judging Hyewon already like.. It's only episode 4, chill out. Let's wait and see how all their characters develop. I'm not a KPOP fan so I haven't really listened to AOA or anything like that but as a Kdrama and kmovie addict, I've watched all of the kdramas and kmovies. I've seen most people judging her acting based on Orange Marmalade which came out in 2015, it's been 5 years already people!! People improve and she improved immensely. Go watch: My Country: The New Age (2019 kdrama) or The Great Battle (2018 Movie), you'll see how she has improved immensely! Awaken, Fighting!

Liking the drama so far, though it can be a bit draggy at times. The love triangle the show is trying to develop seems a little icky, tbh. NGM is great and sexy as usual.

Fan of NGM Dec 08 2020 2:24 pm For ppl who said no to unnecessary loveline, please take note that this drama is under genre Romance and Mystery. So definitely there will be a love line. And for ppl who keep saying sht bout Gong Hyewon (or maybe bc the actress), we are just on 3-4 episode so please, lmao. We dont know the Hyewon's story (the character) well. Plus, i think Seolhyun did well in acting lol

Even Hyewon's facial expressions looks same all the time (looks like she's always furious about something) lol. Hyewon definitely like Jungwoo, but the way she denies it lke ugh girl enough with that we know it! I hope this drama doesn't have unnecessary loveline, just focus on the mystery and investigation. We have the great NGM and LCA pls pls script be great too!

Dunk Dec 07 2020 2:22 am I can’t wait for episode 3! This drama is so exciting. @previous comments yessss I feel the chemistry between Jung woo and Jamie and it’s fire. Wasn’t expecting romance in this drama but it makes it a lot more entertaining and I’m living for it.

Andre Dec 06 2020 6:52 pm They should fire the director of this drama. The train sequence in the end of episode one is hilarious in its badness. Also the lead actress is completely raw. Overall seems like an amateurish drama and the only reason I bothered was because of Namgung Min.

Cherry Dec 04 2020 11:01 am Cool your nerves. It's just episode 2 and remember that it's a mystery drama. It is acceptable that some things will be incoherent. As long as a resolution will be offered eventually then I'm on board. But my magnet here is really Chung Ah and her chemistry with Min. God, I'm not a fan on love teams in mystery dramas coz story gets messy 100% of the time but I can't resist their charm as a couple.

When it comes to Hye Won, it their relationship has more of a mentor and mentee mentality.

I have nothing against Seolhyun btw. She is an okay actress. :)

First thing I asked: why the f*ck don't they just call for helicopters? Why is this supposed to be tense? Then I learned it was just a show off and a kind of presentation for the main characters. sarangbiet Dec 02 2020 11:01 am Already watched till ep 2. It is already pick my interest since ep 1. Well there are still so many mysteries here. I am also confused, why Hye Won is the female lead. Because Jamie is the strong one in these episodes. I am sure we will find put the reason along the story.

And for anyone who still doubt Seolhyun acting, please.. just because she was bad at Orange Mermalade (yes, she was awkward at that, i admit) doesn't mean she is bad at this. Her latest acts in My Country and Ansi Fortress are so good. Even public praised her.

Woomie Dec 01 2020 9:54 pm I watched orange marmalade completely and I know that SH acting there wasn’t good. But in her other dramas she’s improved. (E.g my country and there was one movie she also starred in that I watched). Seol Hyun acting here is good guys. She actually got better.

Is there romance in this drama? Because Minnie Oppa and Chung Ah unnie got one hell of a chemistry here. There have to be romance because I’m so shipping Jung woo and Jamie. (Ship Name: Woomie) lol.

@Cha I hope you’re wrong. I don’t want a love triangle in this perfect drama. If there’s romance I hope Hye won doesn’t have feelings for Jung woo.

0103 Dec 01 2020 9:45 am Have watched few episodes of orange marmalade, skipped it due to its confusing plot and bland acting. Sorry for prejudices but really, she lacks emotions. She might be praised by some but many still questions her acting skills. Why so? Tone, facial control, voice~ and the character does not fit her at all.

It's also gonna be a great drama because the others cast in this are some very, very, very good actors and actresses, and I've watched a lot of them in varying dramas over the years. Lee Chung Ah, I feel in love with her after watching my 1st kdrama, Flower Boy Ramen Shop...yup, that was a long time ago but that was one of the 1st dramas I watched...up there with The Midas, Iris, etc....

But, I'm looking forward to this drama.
