3 years ago, a man lost his younger sister in the "Bar Code" murder case. Since then he has lost his senses. A girl miraculously survived the "Bar code" murder case. Since then, she has lost her memory, but also has gained the ability to see smells.

Notes

"The Girl Who Sees Smells" takes over the Wednesday & Thursday 21:55 time slot previously occupied by "Hyde Jekyll, Me" and followed by "Mask" on May 27, 2015.
Based on the webcomic "Naemsaereul Boneun Sonyeo" by Man Chwi (first published from July 23, 2013 via cartoon.media.olleh.com).
Singer/actress Bae Suzy was first offered the lead female role, but declined due to scheduling conflicts with her Kpop group Miss A.
Brief Korean working title was "Gamgaknamnyeo" (literally "Sensory Couple") before changing back to its original title of "Naemsaereul Boneun Sonyeo" (literally "The Girl Who Sees Smells").
First script reading took place during the first week of March, 2015 at SBS Ilsan Production Center in Tanhyun, South Korea.

Veronica Feb 04 2022 8:36 pm The best thing about this drama is Namkoong Min. The serial killer he played had to be the most handsome and sexy villain ever! It was almost strange that the female lead didn't end up falling for him instead of the annoying detective character.

The overall plot was just ok but Namkoong Min really lighted up the scene whenever he came on the screen!

ohlala Nov 24 2021 1:14 am I've tried to give it a chance as I'm a Namkoong Min fan but dropped it with few episodes left. The female lead (Shin Se Kyung) acting seems to be off/forced (like fake laughter or expressions). I thought I was the only one who noticed but a friend watched it too and shared the same thoughts (without me sharing to her first). I like her acting in six flying dragons though. I think her acting style fits (serious) historical dramas. Anw as the others commented the storyline 'should be' promising but i find it a bit dry.

The storyline is just calling for a sequel. Shin Se Kyung is just adorable. General public may not be forgiving towards real life Park Yoo Chun.. but what the heck everybody makes mistakes. If its so bad, just put another actor there, talented screen writers must know what works. With current kdrama all dark and moody, this light 'who done it' detective drama will sure attract viewers.

Nakedlady Jul 22 2021 1:19 am Shin Se Kyung is another actress high on my top 5 list. This had a few interesting scenes However completetly faail to understand why Shi Se Kyung is inflicted with such horrible male leads. The policeman in this had absolutely no redeeming traits to my mind and he constantly treated Shin Se Kyung like dirt. I was bitterly disapointed that she ended up with him, though I suppose it was inevitable. Do all girls get dragged around by the wrist in Korea, Shin Se Kyung must have been covered in bruises by the time this was finished filming. I kept wanting to hit this bloke with a brick. This was another kdrama that had a cartoony animation like feel to it with its very bright colours

AJ Jan 04 2021 6:57 am This drama series intrigued me from the title of 'seeing smells/scents'. Various unique 'abilities' have been explored to develop interesting series, and here is visualizing odors instead of sniffing them. The plots throughout the series are not strong enough, often with too many coincidences. For me, having Namkong Min (of the Good Manager/Chief Kim) as the calm villain doesn't help at all. If not for the merry character of Shin Se-Kyung, the series would simply collapse. I liked the idea about the comedy troupe, but saddened by the lack of effort to develop it more into the storyline. Park Yoo-Chun was good in his acting, but the role given to him was not very well-thought. The series had the opportunity to be awesome, but missed it, unfortunately.

MM Jul 03 2020 9:10 am Good acting but terrible plot holes. I don't know if they are trying to be funny but many times we just shouted at the tv in frustration due to the stupidity of the decisions of the characters. For example, (spoiler) a girl is about to die and you stop searching the area because it rained?! Seriously? Must the cops just totally depend on the girl's power and they cannot even look around the area where they last tracked the killer??? We're going to keep note of this writer and make sure to avoid his shows in the future.

ad Jul 01 2020 9:23 pm It was an interesting story with a few plot twists and plot holes but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The 1st half of the series I thought was better and was progressing nicely then the 2nd half was when the story kind of broke down. I still enjoyed watching as I wanted to know what happened and finished it until the end. Overall, it was a good and entertaining series. 89/100

I enjoyed this Drama in spite of the plot holes until around ep.9. When Cho-rim is certain that Jae-hae is guilty just cause some people said he was, not even giving him the benefit of the doubt after how kind and trusting he was towards her.. that pissed me off so much.. whats worse is that she then teamed up with the asshat that is Moo-Gak and abuses Jae-Haes trust and yet Jae-Haes supposed to be the bad guy.. Honestly.. this just made the whole ending leave a sour aftertaste and I could root for the main couple at all.. dissapointing

Droctor feel sorry to choi eun seol because he want her to die to save his wife who need heart transplant. He try to kill her using syringe but couldn't. When he saw her after few years being health and happy he try to confess of his bad intention and wrote letter not to send but coincidentally she saw the letter. I think droctor and chef know because of ju ma ri but yes he didn't know the chef is seriel killer. Chef kill eun seol's perants and and when is upto kill eun seol too she ran away and hit by car and admit at same hospital where choi mo gak's younger sister same name choi eun seol was there because of their school bus accident. Chef mistook and killed choi mo gak's sister beacase he has problem recogniseing face and he only know her name. Hope this may help you.

She is one the dumbest and weakest heroines in all k-drama history, the actress did a great job in representing her (despite the fact that the character is pretty useless). The male lead is strong but temperamental. All characters are quite cliche. Entertaining to watch.

At first i thought the chef ask the Dr.to kill Choi Eunsol in the hospital but in the process he mistakenly killed Moogak sister,so when he saw the real Choi Eunsol hes shocked and he feels guilty,he even tried to confess right?but when he saw the Barcode books he was truly shocked,so it means he didnt know that the chef is the one killing..so why he knows Oh Chorim,why hes guilty for her?did i really missed a scene or what? Urrrrggg pls.help me clear my head hahahahahaha

Ngm Sep 10 2018 1:44 am I loved this drama over all...but the story has flaws..this drama is about the story of chef..and they didn't complete the story of him..why did he kill his girlfriend ..is she really his gf ,I thought chef definitely like oh Cho rim..he has a soft corner...and he don't know what friend ship is when she tried to help that profiler...he was surprised..I think he is lonely and he want to became a doctor..but he couldn't ...I think first of all he hates his own life..his abusive adoptive parents..then he didn't get the chance to study medicine ,his life is a mess..but he definitely likes oh Cho rim...he always ask her to cheer up when he is tensed...I wish they could have paird..or Cho rim and chef ...I feel pitty on him...he really acts well...hats off to u...man..

OMG too much holes on this series. such a dissapointment. i like SSK, but her role here is way too lame and dumb, sorry for hating, just saying what ive seen so far. this is my last ep, not going further anymore.

hani Oct 31 2016 1:51 am i kept on delaying watching the drama because of some reviews about plot holes but after watching this drama i think all the cases were justified and the reason behind the bar-code murders were understandable i actually enjoyed the whole suspense and all the cases getting solved. it was a good one if you want to kill your time with a good light romantic yet suspense story..

I don't know why people made a fuss about they didn't get any explanation why Chef Kwon killed all of his victims. Oh come on, he's a SERIAL KILLER and YOU DON'T NEED ANY PARTICULAR REASONS TO BE A SERIAL KILLER. They kill for fun (more like for psychological reasons), no other motives, that's why it's called serial killer. And I think it was explained in some scenes, like when Detective Choi explained Chef Kwon's past in Harvard Medical School; he dropped out from being a doctor after some psychological test, just like Detective Choi said "I think it was hard for him to suppress his urge to kill So I assume he felt conflicted by the life-saving nature of doctors". Also when Lieutenant Yeom was kidnapped and she's trying to uncover Chef Kwon's story; she said that he did it because he had that sickness of can't remember people's faces and he killed people because he wanted to own their lives (meaning he's a psycho). That's it. It was a total explanation, so what else do you expect to be his motives? Revenge?

Except for Dr Chun, he was killed to shut his mouth. That's why Chef Kwon broke the "every 12 months" pattern.

And you guys, it's a MINI-DRAMA, not some of crime-psychological or police-procedural drama, so it's natural to have some (like you said) "plot holes". Some scenes might be forced and another might be unnecessary, and I personally think the writers and producers got a little bit confused in how to wrap up the story, so the last two episodes didn't get me thrilled like the 14 episodes. They were okay, but I think the story could've a better ending, not just like "the villain died (because he fell off the building), so you have a happy ending now". Again, many dramas are like that.

I personally quite like this drama. That's it.

It kept me up all night and I don't regret it cause it was absolutely perfect I loved the creativity and plot sometimes I was like wtf but then I'd be like ohhh that's why but yeah and mind you the first episodes had me banging my head against the wall trying to figure out who the bar code murderer was I probably looked crazy but it was fun thinking of different people as suspects and why and then having that huge plot twist with the chef *sighs* I really shipped him and oh Cho rim but Choi was cuter anyway before I start fangirling again this mini drama is worth watching I promise give it a try then you'll be hooked too and probably binge all night the whole 16 episodes like me lol

Mimzie Apr 12 2016 4:04 am It seems like people either loved or hated the drama. I personally quite liked it. It was thrilling and I loved Chef Kwon. I think it was well done until episode 14. I find it a major loss that they did not explain why Jae Hee became a serial killer. Like, they were throwing some pretty good hints through the episodes but never developed them. The serial killer was the most interesting character so it's bad that they left him all unexplained. I liked the drama mostly because of him. I became a fan of Namgoon Min from this drama. After Chef Kwon's death, most of the scenes were quite irrelevant so they could have spent a few minutes to tell about Jae Hee's past. He didn't seem like someone who would talk about it but there could have been some flashback stuff about it. What I like about Korean dramas is that they usually explain why the villains became this way. Maybe they wanted people not to feel any compassion towards him because he indeed was evil but it didn't quite work. When he fell off that building and the other characters were looking at his dead body, all I could feel was pity. I was like: "He was lonely and had no one to love him." Maybe because he had some captivating charm but I couldn't fully hate Jae Hee. My theory: I think he had been abused by his foster parents. Once he was talking to Yeom Mi and he got really mad what she asked if he had been abused as a child. They also mentioned something about a book issuing company owned by his real parents so I thought something bad happened to them that traumatized him. Then he failed his aptitude test for medicine. Maybe he was unhappy with his life so he went crazy and started believing that if he had some other people's lives written in a book and then kills those people, he would sort of own their life. I think that's why he chose victims very different from one another - he wanted some diverse stories. Maybe it was also because of the fact that he couldn't recognize faces and the face is a distinctive feature of every person so maybe he couldn't see people normally. I do think this has to do with some bad genes since not everyone who had gone through hardships becomes this crazy.

When Yeom Mi got kidnap, they followed the killer to the secret house and suddenly raining, it takes to long to find her, it really annoy me. They effort to find her is worthless. What's more annoying, I dont know how PYC won best actor mini series in this drama

In this case , I ended up hating whoever was in charge of writing this piece of garbage. It's a shame because it started off so well , but as soon as it was revealed that the chef was the chain murderer , the whole thing became a joke. I will now list a few of the many reasons why :

1. The lieutenant doesn't spot the chef or the former detective when she is less than 5 meters away from them 2. The chef's "narrow escapes" during each episode is beyond belief. 3. If CMG has no senses , then how did he realise he had been stabbed at the storage facility ? 4. When OCR gets the text from her drunk father, she goes to the house to pick him up , she acts shocked when the chef taps her on the shoulder...She KNOWS it's his house, she's been there before , who did she expect ? SANTA CLAUSE ???? 5. WHY OH WHY would a policeman give the prime suspect his mobile phone ?!?!?!? lolololololol 6. When CMG grabs the doctor and accuses him of killing his sister, he doesn't say anything...now I may be in a minority here, but if some policeman grabbed me like that and accused me of something as serious as that (which I haven't done) , I wouldn't stand there and say nothing !!!!!!!!!!!! 7. OCR can "see smells" , but she doesn't see the chef's smell when he is hiding behind the door less than 2 meters away from her !!!

I could go on and on, but I'm getting more and more pissed off by the minute....don't waste your time with this one, there are far superior shows available where the writing and storyline won't leave you feeling like the writers are treating you like a retard

It seems like the writers totally disregarded the technical aspects of the story flow. The backstory is lacking; the police team so unprofessional (though funny, really enjoyed their scenes); the ex-police (step dad) became an irrelevant character at some point (he hid Cho Rim but he's always MIA, leaving her alone and then bam, he spills out important details to someone just because he was a 'victim' too; etc... Also, a lot of misplaced drama. Not to compare but at least Hello Monster got a lot of things right. It's supposed to be a crime-romcom. I hope writers will be more consistent and creative next time. I just need to get it out of my system. I'm utterly disappointed. Maybe it's my fault too for having high expectations. But you can't really just miss these points. I'd give it 5 stars tops.

It's total waste of time as there won't be any special reason behind the killings, they won't reveal any of the killings background story. Therefore, I felt being cheated for just making me sit until the end to give me nothing. It was useless to extended to episode 16 if there were no special scene and with the ending, I laughed out from my nose.

YC and SSK give me, natural relationship, not to show PDA kiss in any korean drama, and thats give me good impression with this drama

It is preposterous that a subordinate police officer would behave in this way and there was no punitive action, wtf! She did the right thing and should have done it sooner.

This is a big disappointment as I had great expectations of this drama and see more of the heroine in action.

Like, it was just like they had to make 2 more episodes but they had no ideas so they were mostly just to fill the drama. Jae Hee (the killer) was quite of an interesting character, would be nicer if they had revealed why he became a serial killer in the last episodes, rather than the silly and disconnected stuff they put in.

SPOILER* At the end, when Choi Moo-gak was untying her, he could've untied her any time AFTER atleast tying up or even killing the criminal. But instead, he goes to untie her and that gave the criminal more time, which lead him to pulling out a knife and running away.

To be honest, I wouldn't care if that couple died, both of them.

The combination of a rom-com with a serial killer crime is uncommon, but for me, it works and the slow pace of the investigation doesn't matter because it's not a 100% crime drama. And also for me, there is enough chemistry between the leading couple. And I do like the Kang Hyeok character.

Namgung Min is also very amazing as well. I gave 8.5/10 for this drama.

Beside the thriller things i really love the romance of this drama! because it's different from typical kdrama The great thing about the romance is there are no one sided love or another bitchy trying to get the main lead and a good guy who is protect the girl and not get the girl -,- there are absolutely nothing about it in this drama and anw I'm tired of that kind of things! Their romance is absolutely sweet lovey dovey. it seems real and really cute now I'm shipping se kyung and yoochun to be real couple hahahahahah, even it looks like destiny but they are not hold on destiny but rather than making their own romance, that's why i really love it! Good job writer And the good thing about this drama is even it looks like heavy with the thriller things but the story feels light rather than heavy because of the way they bring the story u can understand it all without confusing! TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!

And for those who said that se kyung's acting sucks is screw you guys! I know u hate her from fashion king and when a man loves but give some rest! Actually se kyung did great on FK and WAML why? because that's what she should portrayed for the role u should blame the writer not the actress!

TikTok Jun 10 2015 5:32 am "The Girl Who Sees Smells" suffers from the very common K-Drama disease known as "LackOfCommonSenseItis"... The premise is interesting, the acting is decent and the series starts off promising however as the story continues to unfold the gaping plot holes become bigger and bigger until they cannot be ignored. This drama also suffers from the fact that, in K-Drama Land, the police force always seems to be made up of a bunch of First Class Idiots.. that is the only word for them and unfortunately most of the plot devices and suspense rely heavily on these ridiculous (and at times downright stupid) mistakes. It isn't the worst K-Drama I have watched and it is certainly not the only one suffering from these ailments. Like I said, the acting is really very decent, there are cute moments, funny moments and even moments where you really are sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next! But even with these few rays of light, the drama lacks the solid story line a premise like this needs. "The Girl Who Sees Smells" ends up drowning in the endless idiotic plot devices that will have you literally "face-palming" through the entire second half. After all is said and done, I would probably give this drama a mediocre 5 out of. <3

Yoochun, with that very flexible face, could actually be 2 exact opposite kinds of person. The Choi Officer while investigating, and while joking around with the comedians or with Oh Cho Rim. And each is very believable, not too much, and appropriate. His acting is daebak! Number 1 class!

Shin Se Kyung, I adore her not only for that cute and smiley face, but also with her skill to posses audiences' feeling. That's why we're like so melted when she acts cute, so broken and sad when she acts torn and full of guilt, so scared when she acts dumb by not staying away from the murderer.

I also love how they create stories and ideas and do things based on the sensory abilities they have. The cases are ones that are nearly impossible to solve without Cho Rim's ability, their luck is really based on it. Unlike other dramas or movies that only have 'branding' on the title as additional features for the story. Even the way Choi purposes, was adorable, the best of that could be made knowing his girlfriend's ability. <3 <3 <3

What I can't stop thinking about and can't let go, is that I don't find the reason why Dr. Chun, who at first wants to protect Cho Rim, the witness, not to be killed, at the end tell Chef Jae Kwon that the witness is still alive. And if he really wants to let him know, why not telling him on the video? Why using indirect way, 'golden fish must meet the lonely man, ? Why, just why???

Lastly, I complain that Detective Yeh doesn't have any romance side story here. Even Detective Ki is with Shivanova. That hot guy can't be left alone, really can't! Hahahaha...

Well, this drama has such feel-good scenes, butterflies-in-your-stomach scenes, thrilling scenes, saddening scenes, and everything. This is definitely a complete package of entertainment you'd wish to see.

Great acting for Namgung Min. I mean, he really has the creepy-murderer-with-innocent-face on the get go! He nailed it! Good Job! (two thumbs up)

To Shin Se-Kyung, i just felt she could have done better with the chemistry. She can deliver the lines, act like she really like Park Yoo-Chun but it felt a bit awkward on the physical manifestation of it, like the kissing. Nevertheless, both of them... they did justice on their characters.

But still, Namgung Min FTW!

Lastly, I think its a great story to begin with. It makes me curious... I don't read manhwa, but I think there are a lot of hidden gems there. More of this please! :)

In her previous dramas her acting was good but the problem is the plot. Lovely ending. Gonna watch this again straightly. What's unique in this drama from previous action-thriller-romantic drama is that the case they are solving and the other side of yoo chun (the cuteness overload) was shown! This drama doesn't deserve a BASH but an AWARDS :D

juzbcozimachunsa May 21 2015 7:38 pm I watched this drama mainly because of Yoochun and among all his dramas, this is the least I like. It's ironic because I can see the real Yoochun here and this one's the drama that he is able to showcase his versatility as an actor, to be able to do drama, comedy and action at the same time. I think that is why he chose this drama. TGWSS is supposedly a very good drama and it started off to be so, however, I'm disappointed that it didn't come out that way. At least for me. And I don't blame it to the actors. They were excellent, Namgung Min, Yoonjin Seo, the three policemen. There were times that I found SSK lacking but she was able to make it up on other scenes. Yoochun too, was lacking in some other parts but Yoochun is Yoochun and he has proven himself many times. I think the only one major fault in this drama is the scriptwriting. The writer is trying to be wise and it ended up sacrificing the essence of investigation and comedy to the point of the drama no longer making any sense at all. The only thing I find right are the romantic comedic scenes of mu gak and cho rim. I'm sad that the drama is over but I'm also glad I'm relieved of the stress the writer has caused me. I will miss Mugak and Chorim. And I hope the writer will stick to writing cartoons, the "anything goes" type of story. By the way, anybody has read/watched the webtoon? Does it have the exact same story? If that is, I can't point negative to the writer though.

Though they dont have those extravagant romance but I seriously love those little things they do such as the way ChoRim hug Mogak while they're walking, MoGak's random comedic-on-the-go. I dunno why but they succeed to make my heart flutter. And for me it's quite okay when they dont stress out for the action part, since their main genre is romcom, so they did a splendid job for these, and despite these romcom thingy, Kwon Ja Hae manage to give his outmost feeling so Im good with it.

even though this is drama one does not excuse stupidity. maybe because im a fan of SVU and Persons of Interest. My brain just hurts watching korean police do their work. And no I don't watch the show for the eye candy, I leave that to a even dumber audience. And yes koreans can write smart police dramas like Bad Guys or the long running Gods Quiz and Yoo chun previous role in 3 days. I suggest you watch those shows instead.

And, how stupidly Detective Oh trusted Chef Kwon instead of the police, simply share everything about the chainmurder but wanted to protect Cho Rim, huh? Yeah, I dislike how the murderer is smarter than the detectives all the time.. If not, this drama will be very2 good.

The police procedures are probably some of the dumbest I've ever seen. A cop knowingly allows self to be kidnapped by the murderer, with no escape plan. That's a nomination for a Darwin Award right there. Another cop physically assaults the suspected perpetrator numerous times, basically opening himself and his department up to lawsuits that will likely result in censure and/or termination.

It's as if the screenplay was written by someone who had little/no understanding of police procedures and even less common sense.

Besides the unreal time-frames, the detective's incredible stupidity and the killer's unbelievable prowess and plain dumb "luck"; we have a "Doctor" who is already captured, who knows he's probably as good as dead, who also feels very guilty towards the girl, but yet he feels the unbelievable stupid and messed up need to reveal to the Killer that the witness is still alive. Is he really a Doctor, is he really that dumb? Did he cheat his way through med school? WTF just doesn't cut it with this drama. I must strive to come up with a new expression that can help me convey the exasperation I feel when I recall this plot. And the super smart detective does not see his phone being hacked right in his face?!?!? REALLY? Are these writers being serious? Like @Valerie mentioned, this feels like a very expensive Samsung ad. Highly disappointing.

The detectives here doesn't act like detectives.Choi Moo Gak's character as a detective was not emphasized well.Most of the drama's time was spent on eating rather than investigating. There were a lot of lapses of logic that's annoying.But, I would still watch this till the end to see if it will wrap up nicely.

I like the first five episodes, really hate ep 8 to 10, but starting to like it again in ep 11 and 12 even though there is a lot of mistakes in everywhere, especially the time frame. I think the writer is too concern of a little detail and forget about the others and that's what made me feel so bad while watching this drama. The question " how can" keep running in my heads. But my biggest question is HOW CAN THE INSPECTUR, WHO HAS BEEN WORKING WITH THIS CASE FOR DAMN TWO YEARS HAVEN'T FIGURE OUT ANYTHING AND EVERTHINGS JUST POP OUT FOR FREAKING FEW MONTHS?

I had high hopes for this one... but the undeniable incredibly stupid need to over-stretch the story played foul again. So disappointed that I do not want to see eps 11 & 12. These two episodes (9 & 10) were too ridiculous, completely un-plausible, with unrealistic time-frames, and an over the top and far-fetched plot. How can the killer move faster than everyone (he moves from the province to Seoul in a split second)? Can he fly or something? Cause that's the only thing that's missing here. The writers are killing this drama; and what is worst they are doing this in a slow, cruel and painful manner. How come Cho Rim did not perceive any smells in the Library? No, she had to fall into the dumb damsel in distress role. These writers have a great actor in Park Yoo-Chun, and they had developed a cunning savvy detective... but then he completely misses the cel phone hack? REALLY? They are wasting the talents of Yoo-Chun. Also.. when the detectives set the trap, I can believe that the killer sent a decoy.. believable, ok were good. But then another guy appears? A pyromaniac who just happens to be in the same area... Aaaarrrrrgggghh. Wasted effort. Not even close, completely missed the mark.. CHEAP thrills

For exampe in ep 11 when Choi Mo Gak hit Chef Kwon why didn't he handcurff his hand first? As he knew the murder is him. The other thing is what the heck that Cho Rim has not realized she lost her phone until she arrived and met Chef Kwon. Please make a sense story! You just trying to long this story..

I want to believe, because I like Yoochun a lot...but I can't with these excessive coincidences. I know these disorders exist, please, but the prevalence is very low. One is Ok, Two, all right...Three, hmmm...However, if you include them, you should show the disorders correctly. How she begin to remember just the accident moment??? She doesn't has an psychological amnesia, it´s organic amnesia, because physical trauma, plus 193 days in coma...Aigssssh...I don't feel excited, I feel exhausting. Because it's a good story, with a pretentious script, and badly writing. SBS, please,...improve your writers...And your cops!

queen Apr 30 2015 6:15 pm Again this movie is not really a full romantic movie! So? Do not expect all of the scene are romance. This movie is 60% action/mystery, 30% romance and 10% romance. This movie is somehow like 3 days. Blaming Shi kyeung acting? Actually She made it superb! Her guts really suited to this kind of role. Just have an open heart to her guys. This movie might be a simple movie since full of mysteries but if you look ate the two (chorim) , they look good together. Be good in giving critics in acting. Blame the writer instead! The writer writes the story and director directs their actions. :) #peace :)

Oh Chorim's real name is Choi Eun Sol. Since she lost her memories, she is under witness protection program (or sort of) and change name into Oh Chorim. Moogak's sister has the same name too, Choi Eunsol. Since the killer cannot recognize face, he killed based on name only without realizing that she was the wrong person.The seaweed soup is Oh Cho Rim's forgotten memory. She eats it and feels familiar with the taste.

SBS has a great budget and that's how they can afford good and popular actors which are the main attraction but they ran out of good scripts/stories.

For instance, when Oh Cho Rim was caught by the chef's killer, how come Choi Moo Gak -- who was being somewhere unknown -- arrived at the scene, at the very right moment, rescuing her? She did text him telling that the killer was chasing her, but that was when she was still on the street, running wildly. She did not have chance to text him again when hiding. Still, he was able to find her. Did he put tracker on her phone or something?

Although now it only has 4 episodes, I'm really satisfied with the drama so far. Even though the story line is quite predictable, the great acting from the actors and actresses kept me motivated to watch the next episode! Hopefully this drama will get a higher rating in the near future because it is an wonderful drama that people should watch :)

Sometimes it is who you are co starring with and how you feed each other as actors. Bringing out the best in each other is not always easy. people are very harsh critics.This drama is very promising. I do think she has a funny side that has not been readily explored yet.Ten was indeed very good in Deep Roots. Playing a female opposite a great male is not easy to do,especially if your role is not a loving one. She is still very young....perhaps not as worldly and who knows really innocent.

After I wrote those comments, I started watching Tree with Deep Roots. Jang Hyuk is in that drama and I think he's very talented, plus the story about how the Korean written language came about is very interesting. Well, Shin Se-kyung is in that drama. And she does a good job in that drama. I was surprised that I felt okay watching her, because I had such a negative impression of her from When a Man Loves. So, in the last couple of days, I watched the first two episodes of Sensory Couple (The Girl Who Sees Smells). Shin Se-kyung has really broadened the scope of her acting. She is improving. I think she is doing a good job in this drama. I hope the writers have her treat the male lead well in Sensory Couple. In When a Man Loves, I think because the writers had her treat the male lead terribly, that really had a negative effect on how viewers felt about Shin Se-kyung. At least for me it did. I love seeing Park Yoo-chun. He's fabulous. The story is interesting. I am looking forward to seeing more of this drama.

Its really hard to gain back viewers from other dramas airing at the same time when all you have for the passed 3 months was 3-4%. Succeeding a drama with a finale of 4.3% is a bit too challenging but they started off with 5.6% for the 1st episode and followed by 6.1% on the 2nd. I know the drama is catching more viewers as the drama progresses. Mostly pilot episode for dramas started lower than the finale of the previous drama but in Girl Who Sees Smell situation they started higher compared to Hyde,Jekyll & I finale. So they did well, in other words. Well it just take time to gain back viewers especially other dramas had started way before this drama starts. I just wished for more interesting story this drama will offer to us.

Comparing those two I saw no difference in her acting and found her to be lifeless even Kristen (twilight) made her look dead. But then last year I was watching Hotel King and I fell in love with Lee and was like "hey his coming back already with Blade Man let me give it a try". First episode of watching it I had to have some therapy on why I shouldn't hate on the actress but the director. After numerous of mind therapy and mediation, I realised I needed to move on from her. Then some weeks ago Tazza: the hidden card was subbed and I was like "oh hey baby!" but guess who was the main girl? I reminded myself of the therapy I went through so I pledged to give her a third chance and GOD she blow me away (maybe its because I was distracted by T.O.P) but that girl has charm and she is beautiful. She fitted the role so well and I was intrigued to know when she would be back and honey I'm happy she's back with LIFE. She looks like she's going to be funny in this drama. From the teasers I'm loving her like HELLO!

But somehow I feel this drama is so GONG HYO JIN's thing. Am i the only one feeling like that?

Eun Jung Mar 28 2015 5:45 pm Park Yoo-chun is one of my top most favorite actors. So, when I learned that he was going to be in this drama, I was soooooooo happy! Unfortunately, a decision was made to cast Shin Se-kyung with Park Yoo-chun. The first time and only time I have seen Shin Se-kyung was with Song Seung-heon in When a Man Loves. Song Seung-heon is at the very top of my list of favorite actors. While watching Shin Se-kyung in When a Man loves, I grew to strongly dislike her. One reason was that her character treated Song Seung-heon’s character terribly. (She didn’t write the script, so she couldn’t help that.) The second reason I strongly disliked her was that her face was expressionless and I could not see any acting abilities in her. I don’t mean to be unkind. But, truthfully, she is the ONLY actress I really do not like. I never ever want to see her act again. So, I am torn when it comes to whether or not to see this new drama, Sensory Couple. I want to see Park Yoo-chun so much! If only I could bring myself to tolerate watching Shin Se-kyung. She left such a terrible impression on me. If only Bae Suzy could have done the female lead!! (Or, another talented actress.)

I'm still not pleased with SSK's acting since I've seen her in HK2 and BM and I'm not familiar with the other actress but I will give her one last chance here to prove me wrong. If she's still hasn't improved, I'll pass every drama she's in.

I find it hard to understand why it seems difficult for people to let go of a particular role she played in another drama years ago. Male actors seem to be given endless grace time to mature their skills by the fan community. Granted, I'm not going to see the drama others pan so much. :)

Genuinely, she's one of my favorite actresses.

Oh well, let’s leave the burden of ratings to SBS, the production staffs (writer, director & etc.,) after all, they have reasons why they cast these actors/actresses.

As Yoochun fan, Im here to support him no matter how will the drama goes, tho good or bad, but it seems the latter one prevails bcoz of prejudgement. But on the brighter side of this, let’s enjoy ourselves and most importantly if you love the drama support for it and if you negate with the storyline/casts you can simply go out from here and have yourself watch other dramas instead.

I didn't know about that condition first but thanks to this drama I was informed about it lol

I have watched already SKK in When a Man Loves and I would say her acting was okay, It's not that bad and also wasn't the best but she still can act. I guess its not right to blame the actress if the drama is flop, one thing to consider also is a good story line. That's why I hope writer-nim will show us an interesting drama and solid plot plus not boring epsiodes so that many would really watch it.

It's kinda like when you close your eyes, you can still see, but it's really your thoughts that you're seeing. Same goes with smell, if you were to close your eyes and then smell something familiar, a banana, you can "see" the banana. See ;-), makes perfect sense, right?! ;-D Looking forward to seeing this drama! Suzy should really look into action dramas though! Really loved her in Gu Family Book!!! (Really looking forward to see Season 2 of that one FOR SURE!!!)
