Set in a farming village in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Takeshi is in the 4th grade of elementary school. He is distraught that his grandfather, whom he loved and lived next door, died. A boy in a white t-shirt, named Hisao, appears in front of Takeshi. Hisao asks Takeshi to find a rusty can under a citron tree and give the can to a girl named Yuko.
