Tsubame Haruna (Suzu Hirose) is a female high school student. She spends her days peaceful, while concerned about other's facial expressions. She is forced to become the student president. Tsubame Haruna then meets Kei Shizukui (Ryunosuke Kamiki). He has a talented speech writer. With his help, Tsubame Haruna starts a revolution at her corrupt school.

Although the characters Haruna and Kei seem to get together, it's definitely my head canon that Natsuki developed feelings for Haruna while expecting her to end up with Kei.

Yuna Sep 26 2015 8:34 pm I just finished the last episode, and I can say only one thing: THIS DRAMA WAS AWESOME! hahahaha I fell in love with all the characters, specially Haruna, Kei and Natsuki. The main characters has so much chemistry, and for being a Japanese drama I wasn't expecting romance between Haruna and Kei at all... it end up surprising me in a good way. It was so funny, sweet and intelligent. The plot and all the dialogs were very well written. I totally recommend it, guys! It was such a good surprise to me :)

This is my first j-drama this year since it's very hard to watch j-dramas nowadays :)) I really appreciate the characters; Suzu Hirose & Ryunosuke Kamiki did their parts really well. I had fun watching them together as well as their individual scenes in which they showed their prowess in acting. The minor characters also have their own parts in which they don't left behind. The soundtrack is also fits with the scenes. I thought that this drama could be today's generation school drama just like Gokusen & Nobuta Wo Produce (both are my generation's and first school dramas) both of these dramas have similarities and that is the life lesson attached on it that made me considered them as classics and I could say that Gakko no Kaidan is that kind of drama that scope you to the school and student life with resolved lessons that also can turn in to a classic. This is totally recommendable ^^

AnimeJin Mar 15 2015 2:42 pm Brilliant acting by Kamiki Ryunosuke. He appeared to be over-acting in the beginning and through out, but the subtle emotions behind his mask appears more and more over each episode, until we, and the heroine (a young girl played adequately by Hirose Suzu) learn more and more about his character and his tragedy. In the final episode, Kamiki brings out the vulnerable, the desperate, the gut wrenching despair, with his character flitting in and out of the dual role he was supposed to be playing. There is no acting here, Kamiki becomes the character, and in his character, he tries to act cool, in control, and evil. This is a drama that surprised me, as the student body seemed silly and over-played often and the speeches are some times predictable. The adults were basically all broken douche-bags. The kids were unsure of themselves and had not much spine. Kamiki wasn't on screen much in the first 6-8 episodes, so you wondered where this drama was going- until episode 9 and 10 showdowns. Then it was a tour de force. Watch it!

Hannasj Mar 15 2015 9:48 am All I could say is this is a complete package consisting of a basket full of fresh young talents (a BIG credit to Suzu Hirose..clap clap~) with accompanied superior acting by Kamiki Ryunosuke (or could I say a hilarious over-the-top acting...hihhi~ you know I love you) and with special added bonus of a KISS (or was it a peck??). All in all, Japan has did it again with your standard teenage angst drama that's not sugar-coated with crappy teenage love story, but took in a full throttle on revolution of a crappy school with a crappy teacher and crappy students caste. A recommended watch!

eri Mar 09 2015 11:19 am I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DRAMA. Not a lot of Japanese dramas can pull off such a brilliant plot like this one. Every damn character is amazing. TOTAL RESPECT for the ever epic genius actor kamiki ryunosuke. I am seriously learning Japanese language just for this guy. And the heroine is so admirable, you will love her for sure. AND YES, the platinum's KING sudo natsuki is sooooo hot and handsome and perfect hahhaha I SHIP HIM WITH THE HEROINE so much.

Again, watch this drama. YOU WON'T REGRET IT. Every episode is a masterpiece.

Yarrr the lyrics might goes wrong since I cant hear it correctly (because there's always crying shouting and yelling at each other while this song play). Everyone is so adorable admirable they're just awesome every episode they did. We just love and we enjoy so much watching this epic drama every Saturday 9:00pm. Hannasj Feb 14 2015 12:24 pm hmmm considering this is a japanese dorama I don't think it's likely they will explore the romance part in this series because that's how Jdorama is. and the MOST they will give us is subtle romance hint that they might have feelings for each other and that's it. Maybe I'm wrong, but following a routine Jdorama route this is likely what we will get

Hannasj Feb 01 2015 3:06 pm this dorama had me laughing off my chair each episode. so funny yet the speech is so dramatic. Liking the interaction between the lead so far, they're hilarious! at first I thought Kamiki-san acting is a bit over the top but he's definitely nailing his character. And the heroine, first time seeing her in a dorama, yet her crying scene was just epic. I mean she's literally bawling her eyes for a whole 15 minutes in that first episode. And that's definitely something. Looking forward to more episodes~

I love this demeanor and sense of humor, I get the feel he's out for revenge. Interesting storyline so far, and it's tugging my emotions. I can't wait for the next ep!
