Shuta (Sota Fukushi), Saku (Shuhei Nomura) and Michiru (Tsubasa Honda) have been best friends since they were kids. Tragedy strikes the friend during winter, 2010. The friends go their separate ways. Three years later, Shuta boards a train in the Enoshima subway. Somehow, Shuta travels back in time to 2010 before the three friends separated. Although Shuta is confused by the time change, he attempts to change the past.

I think what Jeff said is so right. That Shuta (2012) is a time prisoner like kyoko. But remember, that shuta (2012) came to 2010, which we could see that there is Shuta 2010 still alive but did not have any relation to Michiru and Saku. There are some parallel world like his sensi told.

In conclusion, Shuta 2012 is probably dead in his real world (i think people in his world would say shuta did a suicide like kyoko story), and shuta 2012 become time prisoner of 2010 world.

And here is the most interesting part. why did kyoko a time prisoner met shuta 2012 (shuta time traveler)? isn't that impossible? so here is what i think.

We could say a real world, as world A (in the film it would be 2012), and i would say there is a special world where you can wish all your wishes, lets call it world C, and the trial word would be world B. So, kyoko back to her time, she travelled from world A to B to make her trial and succeed, which made her a time prisoners of world B. So world C1 would be the world where her wishes coming true. Kyoko in world A probably dead by suicide.

In the other case, Shuta travelled from world A to world B to make his trial. And he succeed it, where he probably dead in world A and there would be world C2.

Maybe you guys think what the heck is with world B? why did Michiru, Saku, and the strange club members knew that Kyoko did suicide (a condition in world A)? so i'll tell you what is the great things about world B. World B consist of matters of fact of world A and C. I mean, Kyoko probably dead in world A and B, but live in the world C, and Kyoko could see the world she wished for in the world B, but the new history written in world C. therefore, in trial world or world B there were some news from world A. So yeah, that's why you saw shuta 2010 and 2012 in one world, that's world B. by the time history changed, so shuta world B and A will be dead. Shuta live in the world C tho.

So, Shuta and kyoko time prisoners, is living in a world B. And i hope that they meet again, therefore a second film is needed.

I'll check this comments section once in a month, probably every d-15, in case someone notice my comment and wanna have a discussioon.

jeff labaguis Jul 23 2021 9:04 am this is my reply for user orange , yep sota became a time prisoner like kyoko i mean the one who came from the future but the real shuta stay in the current timezone remember when sota ask sota(2010) in the bathroom if he already give the leeter to saku thats the shuta who stay in the current world while shuta(2012) stay in 2010 just like kyoko

orange Feb 03 2018 7:57 am The movie was good. I watched it because of Tsubasa Honda. I just don't understand why Sota did not became a time prisoner like Kyoko. In the middle of he movie, Kyoko explained to Sota that she became a time prisoner because she changed the future thus she was forgoten and was trapped on time becoming a time prisoner. Didn't Sota did the same thing? He changed the future by making Saku stay alive instead of dying after sending of Michiru. But why was Sota was only forgotten but still exist in the real world? If he did changed the future, he should be a time prisoner like Kyoko. Am I missing something here or what?

kdwismine Jan 14 2018 4:01 pm I watched the movie for Sota, never expected that I will love it. Something different maybe and not more on romance. To answer widya.sl q's, 1. Michiru probably don't like goodbyes, that's why her leaving for england was a secret. 2. The story is about the 3 friends and not about kyoko, no need to elaborate of what made her become a time prisoner. 3. I don't know what you mean about this q, if you're talking about why shota had a stomach ache, they mentioned it that he ate the mushroom that grows at the back of their school that causes him the stomach ache and yes, the 2010 Shota was forgotten and and nope he did not become a time prisoner for he showed up at the end of the movie as a new Shota. Hoping my understanding of the movie helps you a little bit or maybe confused you more? lol My apologies!

widya.sl May 27 2017 1:05 am The first part is good, and makes me curious how the end of the story. But when it has entered the problem solving part, suddenly too many plot holes. 1. Why Michiru keep the reason for his departure to England? 2. What causes Kyoko to be a time prisoner while Shuta lost all memory and he was forgotten by everyone. Doesn't Kyoko also do the same thing Shuta does? 3. So what happened to 2010's Shuta when he was stomach ache. Whether he is also forgotten or he is the time prisoner like Kyoko?

What makes me sad of the film is, the state of Kyoko that remains a time prisoner while Shuta forget all things about her.

there's some plot holes here and there that never get explained.. it still was an okay film tho.. the part that really hit me is when Saku and Michiru suddenly don't remember him.. it happen too fast
