Biography
Girl's Day is a 5 member Korean idol group. The group consists of So-Jin (leader, lead vocalist), Ji-Hae (vocalist, main rapper), Yoo-Ra (vocalist, rapper), Min-Ah (main vocalist) and Hye-Ri (vocalist). They are managed by Dream Tea Entertainment.
Girl's Day debuted with the EP "Girl's Day Party #1" on July 9, 2010. The group initially consisted of So-Jin, Ji-Hae, Min-Ah, Ji-Sun and Ji-In. They made their first TV performance on KBS 2TV Music Bank with title song "Tilt My Head" ("Gyawooddoong") on July 9, 2010. 2 weeks later Girl's Day released digital single "How Do I Look" ("Na Eoddae").
On September 12, 2010, Dream Tea Entertainment announced that Ji-Sun and Ji-In were leaving the group. Ji-Sun to study music and Ji-In to focus on acting. On September 16, 2010, new members Yoo-Ra and Hye-Ri joined the group. Their second digital single album "Girl's Day Party #2" was released.
Prior to the release of "Girl's Day Party #2," Girl's Day image was portrayed as sweet and girlish. With title track of "Girl's Day Party #2" "Nothing Lasts Forever" the group now portrayed sexier images.
On November 8, 2010, Yoo-Ra's ex-management company Action Music Entertainment sued Yoo-Ra for breaking her contract with their company. Yoo-Ra was supposed to become a member of 4 girl group under Action Music Entertainment, prior to joining Girl's Day. The 4 member girl group under Action Music Entertainment was then halted indefinitely. According to Yoo-Ra's side, she was not supported by Action Music Entertainment and through due process her contract was canceled. The lawsuit became messy with Action Music Entertainment insisting they had a video of Yoo-Ra's unacceptable behavior.[1]. On January 20, 2011, the court ruled in Yoo-Ra's favor.[2]
On March 18, 2011, the group's third digital single "Girl's Day Party #3" was released. Main single was "Twinkle Twinkle" ("Banjjak Banjjack"). "Twinkle Twinkle" is inspired by female singer Na-Mi's song "Sping Round" ("Bingkeul Bingkeul"). On March 17, 2011, Girl's Day made their comeback performance on Mnet M! Countdown. "Twinkle Twinkle" became their most popular song to date.
