Welcome to AsianMediaWiki
Hello Colleen,
Nice to see a Jun-ki Lee fan over here on AsianMediaWiki and nice to have you onboard as well. One quick note I've noticed you changed "Bio" to "Career" for two people. For the sake of consistency please leave it at as "Bio" - if you can provide a compelling reason to change it "Career" I can have the AsianMediaWiki bot (ParanoidAndroid) automagically change all instances of Bio into Career for actors and actresses. But I can't think of a compelling reason so please leave it as is or let me know why you think it should be changed to Career.
In the meantime hope you enjoy your stay here, we're working harder on making the userpages more intuitive in the coming months.
I should actually try to coordinate sectons and pages depending on people's interests. If you are a drama fan - there are quite a few dramas without plot descriptions, if you have seen some of these shows Category:No plot feel free to write up a brief plot description for that series, that would really help us out! Or if you are familiar with certain actors & actress feel free to start up their own bio. Also if you know of a television drama or movie that has yet to have their own article page feel free to start those up. Those are just some suggestions.
Any questions please ask -- --RamenLover 18:55, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
How comes I cannot edit Jun-Gi Lee and why was the Bio deleted? -- Colleen16 10:04, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
Ban
Hey I banned your account because I asked you not to copy and paste bio's and maybe right before or after I posted that message I found another one by you for Jeong-hwa Eom. I'm sure your intent is good, but this doesn't help our website and in the long run hurts us. If you can understand this I am willing to lift ban. Like I said earlier I don't think I'm rash or unreasonable and if you have questions it's better to ask first. Other problems I have had with you are
1.) Renaming Titles (My Girlfriend is an Agent / Boys Over Flowers (Korean version) and others). Again do not rename titles on a whim or because other sites use early romanization titles like "7th Grade Civil Servant" or "Boys Before Flowers." The way AsianMediaWiki relies on a singular spelling to have working links requires this. Now movies and dramas sometimes have different English titles or titles change over the course of time so if a particular title changes notify me and of course I will make the appropriate changes. How do you know this? If the production company titles a film or drama series whatever of course we go by that, other sources can be movie posters if they include the English title, film festivals are a good source as well as they usually get the titles from the distributor (though quite often a title will have a film festival title and then a slightly altered international release title). If none of these situations apply then we can go with the romanization title or a literal english title of the Asian title. Also I'm sure I have spoken with you about the performers name like Lee Jun-ki versus Jun-ki Lee. We go with one system to romanize their names for sake of having uniformity between the Chinese, Japanese, Korean and whatever future ethnic groups appear on the website. Simple as that.
2.) Photo's - Photo's for actor pages should be clear / undoctored photo's so to give readers an easy avenue to identify that person. Airbrushed photo's or photo's designed with photoshop like effects are not wanted - these should go on fan pages. Also file sizes are important! Standard portrait mode photo's should be 250 pixel and not 300 pixel! Why you ask? Our website uses a fluid width skin. On whatever monitor you are using a 300 pixel width photo may look good but on a smaller 1024x728 screen (roughly 30% of our readers still use this smaller resolution) the 300 pixel resolution dwarfs everything else on the page and can sometimes knock other things off alignment.
of course do not copy and paste bio's from other sites. we will eventually have original bio's for most major actors and actresses and there's no need to do this and it hurts our reputation in the short run. Hopefully you can understand this?
Also with the Jun-ki Lee bio you wrote :
Lee Jun Ki started out as a model for So Basic.
He first debuted in the movie Hotel Venus (Japanese Production). And his first drama appearance was in Star's Echo, a two part mini drama series by MBC and Fuji TV in 2004. After this he appeared in Nonstop 4, Drama City: What Should I Do? and the movie Flying Boys.
In 2005, his first major acting role came in the movie The King and the Clown (왕의 남자). In this role, as the clown Gong Gil, he had shown great acting skills, which pushed him to stardom and popularity throughout Asia, where he received many awards.
His next role was as the supporting character, Seo Jung Woo, in the drama My Girl (SBS). In this drama he changed his image from his role, as Gong Gil, in his previous movie, The King and the Clown.
Due to this, Lee Jun Ki's popularity had sparked allowing him to become even more popular not only in Korea but also throughout Asia and overseas as well. He also made other great dramas and movies such as Virgin Snow, May 18, Time Between Dog and Wolf and his very popular, successful drama Iljimae, in 2008. Jun Ki's reputation in the Asian film industry is even more striking, for he is becoming popular in every drama and movie he makes.
Some unexpected events are occurring for actor Lee Jun Ki in 2009. Lee will be enlisting in the army near the end of 2009 and he is also set to play the role of a modern hero in a new drama called Unseen War (보이지 않는 전쟁). In Unseen War, Jun Ki plays a man fixated purely on success who loses a loved one, then decides to fight crime on behalf of the weak. On April 18th he held his Episode II 'Mask' Fan Meet, Concert and released his album entitled 'J Style', includes 8 songs, the 3 songs he sang before in his Episode I Fan Meet and 5 new songs, one of the songs, 'Selfless Dedicated Trees' (아낌없이 주는나무) was written by him for his fans. It was said that the Episode II fan meet concert will tour around Asia and US. Recently on May 28th the Shanghai Episode II fan meet concert was held following the Hangzhou Fan Meet concert on May 30th in the country, China.
Somethings to fix up
This is pretty good. But I would like it if you take a more neutral tone rather than the tone of an emphatic fan. Examples of this :
"He also made other great dramas and movies" <--- this is too biased towards Jun-ki as an actor. Something like "He has also made other successful dramas and movies " or "He has also made other popular ..." is better ... because we can't define what is "great" and we're not their publicist. We can quantify "successful" & "popular" in terms of box office success or tv ratings.
"In this role, as the clown Gong Gil, he had shown great acting skills" <--- Same reasons as stated before ("award winning." etc can work) . Also, if you state why his performance caught the eye of viewers this would work better. Perhaps examples of his realistic portrayal of a gay man or his ability to express feminine sentiment works to give unfamiliar readers insight into his performance than a blanket statement of "great" which we won't use.
In this drama he changed his image from his role, as Gong Gil, in his previous movie, The King and the Clown. -- How did he change his role?
Jun Ki's reputation in the Asian film industry is even more striking, for he is becoming popular in every drama and movie he makes. <--- this needs to rewritten. For same reasons as stated above.
The rest looks fine and is informative. More detail is fine and if you can cite facts from mainstream press even better (I'm guilty of this as well).
Last things
Again if you can understand the requests made above than I'll be happy to remove the ban and not ban "Crazy16" either. Also if you want to take my critique on the Jun-ki bio and work together on the bio great! If you don't want too that is fine too and no hard feelings as well.
