Kim Baek-Du (Jang Dong-Yoon) participates in the traditional Korean wrestling sport of ssireum and is a member of the ssireum team for the Geosan County Office. Kim Baek-Du was born as the youngest son of a prestigious ssireum family. In his past, he was known as a genius like ssireum wrestler, but not anymore. He is thinking about retiring from the sport altogether. One day, Kim Baek-Du meets his childhood friend Oh Yu-Gyeong (Lee Joo-Myoung) and has a turning point in his ssireum life. Oh Yu-Gyeong and Kim Baek-Du grew up together in Geosan County. She begins to work as a leader of the management team for the ssireum team, which is on the verge of disbanding.

Meanwhile they have people around them like Min Hyun-Wook (Yun Jong-Seok), who suddenly appears at Geosan County and adjusts well to life here, and Joo Mi-Ran (Kim Bo-Ra) who is a mysterious cafe owner. There's also the new coach Kwak Jin-Su (Lee Jae-Joon) of the ssireum team and Cho Seok-Hui (Lee Joo-Seung), who is Kim Baek-Du’s best friend and works as a police constable.

I'm on episode 6, and I can't get over Du-sik telling Baek-du to not blow her cover, but he still gets jealous when Hyeon-uk calls her honey, when she's made it very clear that they are under cover.

Other than that, I really like this show.

K gianne Feb 12 2024 2:04 am Spoilers Just finished episode 7. I know little about this sport, but I do know about sports competitions. I was really upset with FL for leaving him alone. He already had the rest of the team in the hospital. When you are competing you get energy from teammates, family and friends that are present. I understand she wanted to confront the cafe owner, but I guess that couldn’t wait a few hours. She totally messed up. If your undercover as the manager of a team at least act like one.

He has yet to disappoint me in any of his dramas, his physical transformation for the rile is amazing.. Although, he drew me to the show and held my attention until the end, i must give credit to an overall stella cast. Most of them are season veterans seen in supporting roles, so i know they are great at their crafts. Another hit on Netflix. As onw commentator state, it has When Them Cammelia Blooms feel to it.

Warmhearted, believable seerum fighting scene, proportionally putting all the characters, very innocent acting of Kim Baek Du and Oh Du Sik, and love all the accents that show the life there that is truly a simple village life with busy noisy neighbors haha. While the story is built around an unsolved crime, it’s the potential romance between the two leads that captivates you. This show was a bit of a surprise because there’s nothing in the pedigree of the writer, director, or actors to suggest that this show would be as near perfect as it is. Episode 11 was a dud, but the rest were spot on. One of the best k-dramas I've seen.

Kim Baek-Du is either the part that Jang Dong-Yoon was born to play, or this actor is on the cusp of greater things to come. Jang is the reason to watch this drama.

Chancellor 7 Feb 02 2024 5:50 pm Great drama 8.5/10. I wish it was longer, as it is the perfect drama to come home & relax with. You just feel warm, watching how they stick together in their community, and how their worries aren’t too big, even when there may be a crime. They are safe and secure.

I first said I would watch this as I follow Ju Seung from I Live Alone. I am happy that he is living his acting dream and getting opportunities. He’s such a character, even in this drama and in real life he seems like a good friend.

Joo Myeong is effortlessly attractive, I remember her from twenty five twenty one. Dong Yoon as Baek Du really great casting, he has the best facial expressions, you believe what he is acting.

Love this show. I’m glad it’s getting some recognition slowly

Aimen Jan 24 2024 2:40 pm Before starting this drama, I thought it was going to be some sad and slow story, but I was here for our Beloved Jang DongYoon and our cutie Kim BoRa....But oh boi I was wrong, this was Not At All a sad or boring story...I enjoyed every Single second of this drama....I know, I know, for many people it might be a typical murder mystery But the warmth this drama gave us is unmatched...♡♡♡♡♡

Let's talk about the Star of this show, Kim.Baek.Do.....Literally the most Adorable human being on this planet...You don't agree? well go argue with a wall....My man (yeah I'm delusional), Jang DongYoon did a Fantastic job at portraying this role...That chubby JDY will forever be one of my favorite memories....JDY, literally changed his whole vibe for this character...Kudosto him for being our Versatile King...

Our FL, Oh DuShik (sorry I forgot her real name) was a strong and determined character and her acting was Amazzzzing..She gave us a perfect combination of her tomboish and feminine side....I Loved It....

Kim Bora didn't have a lot of scenes but the ones she had, she portrayed them like a Queennnnnnn(Ilovehersm)....♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

Finally, the other supporting cast also did a Fabulous job at making this drama super amazing...(especially BaekDo's friends and the fellow cop)

I did figure out who the real culprit was, not because the script was weak but because they did a little bit mistake in casting.....

Overall, I absolutely loved this drama and would recommend it, if you're looking for a story that is sweet and simple....♡♡♡♡♡

Baekdu (Who will always be Nokdu to me) is just adorably funny and cute and I just want to squeeze him and his extra 30 KG even though I know he's already lost the weight.

As of ep 5, it's really good on all elements and thankfully not too heavy. Hoping for a continuous nice ride through to the end.

Hang Dong Yoon could carry off this simple honesty so well and had trained up to do Ssireum, which was fascinating. Also he had the right body for it, as did all the other wrestlers. Korean lead men are usually too skinny and lanky, but they were all fine. Exception Ji Chang Wook, but most ML tall and skinny. FL suited the part perfectly and great to see Baek Du Mum who was in IOKTNBOK. Great actress. Plot based on a true story, so very welll- written and directed. Coach good too. Very well done Netflix. Didn’t expect to like it, but loved it.

There's a kind of innocent air of sweetness here missing from most Kdramas these days. So far my favorite Kdrama in terms of enjoyment second only to Extraordinary Attorney Woo and I have watched quite a few shows since I started getting addicted in 2012!

The previous work from the director and writer on this drama don't set expectations high, but so far it has been a well-paced, tone-perfect drama that's worth the watch.
