Deok-Hee (Sul Kyung-Gu) is the best neurosurgeon in the world. In the past, he had a pupil named Se-Ok (Park Eun-Bin). She was a promising and gifted doctor, but Deok-Hee had mixed feelings about her. Then, during an operation, he permanently kicked her out of his operating room.

Even though Se-Ok was once known as a genius doctor, she now works as a shadow doctor in an illegal operating room. Somehow, she meets her ex-teacher Deok-Hee again. He was the one who kicked her to the bottom. These two crazy, but gifted neurosurgeons confront each other and grow through that. There are also people around Se-Ok. Han Hyun-Ho (Park Byung-Eun) is an anesthesiologist who feels sorry for her and Seo Young-Joo (Yoon Chan-Young) always stays by her.

I hate the middle part 5-7, it was riveting at first but somehow I got lost in these episodes. So when it approached the finale, you will just say that the point of the story is about a two surgeons who have a love and hate relationship with each other

Nana Jul 09 2025 11:28 pm I enjoyed this drama so much. From crazy student to crazier teacher. Unlike other people, I actually enjoyed Eunbin’s screams. Like, she was freaking crazy and I could feel her craziness too!! Somehow they got me emotional at the end? I hope they make another season or spin off because I needed more of Deokhee-Seok, Wooyoung-Seok, and Seok-Youngju. The ost was also good!

June Jun 14 2025 11:12 pm Most people have said it, it’s not terrible, but it’s not great either. The cast was promising, but the storyline had way too many inconsistencies. And OMG, all that unnecessary screaming! It got so annoying I had to mute the TV from time to time. That being said, PEB is a talented and versatile actress. It’s normal for her to explore different roles, but the “screaming badass” type just doesn’t suit her.

Melon Jun 07 2025 5:36 pm Well the drama was okay, lots of unexplained things but interesting story nevertheless. The acting was very good but I’m surprised Sul Kyung gu accepted such a bland, unimportant character. Hopefully his future drama scripts will live up to what The Whirlwind was.

The first 3 episodes were okay but after that, I couldn't even figure out what was happening. The female lead was screaming all the time and she had unnecessary anger. I don't know what exactly the writers were going for but it didn't work for me. My cousin on the other hand really loved the show so I guess it depends on what exactly your cup of tea is. Overall, it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. I'd give it a 5/10

Skim May 06 2025 3:27 pm This is a great drama. Cinematic and beautifully acted. The characters are well drawn and I was totally captivated by the relationship between the main characters. Compared to the standard Kdrama it’s dark but well worth your time if you’re interested in a story that’s challenging and unique.

okja3000 May 01 2025 12:41 pm Heard about this one maybe a year ago when it was announced and looked forward to it since I missed seeing Park Eun-Bin and thought playing against her usual "type" would be a great display of her crazy acting skills. Maybe it's the wait or me hyping it up in my head but it just felt a bit..."meh".

Her character starts off somewhere between Hannibal Lecter (brilliant doctor who unalives people) and Anton Chigurh (odd hair and the way she offs the nurse) but then it all feels like "K!lling Eve" if the lesbian dynamic was replaced with an odd father/daughter one. I also doubt someone with such erratic behavior and lack of impulse control could blaze her way through medical school (never mind a -Korean- medical school) at a young age. She does a lot with what she's been given - as does the rest of the excellent cast - but it just seems a bit empty.

Maybe if they had done 10 episodes and given her (and Dr. Choi) more character development I could have bought into the whole thing a bit more. They both have the "we're not so different, you and I" cliche going but other than hints at severe OCD and what seems like bipolar moods swings on Se-Ok's part it's kind of vague what their "problem" is. She also has the "whimsical murderer" thing going on which means lots of laughing and grinning while doing her dirty work. It doesn't really match the "tortured genius" vibe they seem to be going for. Same with her chav swagger. I'd guess that was all just bad direction but oh well.

The cinematography is very pleasant and the score isn't distracting for the most part...though a few bits sound like they were made by the same people who did the "edgy" music in "The Trunk". The whole package is slickly presented but without better writing or direction you're left with pointless eye candy.

Not horrible but after "The Frog", "Bequeathed" and "Karma" the bar is pretty high for darker K-content. A lot of shows go "God Mode" in their second season and all the pieces are there for improvement but I wouldn't hold your breath or anything. Hopefully "WonderFools" will give PEB more to play with.

Its unique blend of medical expertise and psychological tension makes it stand out in the genre. Rating: 9/10, highly recommended!! At 8 episodes, there’s little fat and it moves along at a good speed.

Watching 2 hypocritical geniuses rationalize murder and killing for their benefit while berating each other for it, yet also respect each other because of their passion towards performing brain surgeries was unexpected and entertaining

It's like when you are driving on a highway and suddenly you see a terrible accident and there's a traffic jam on the road because of it and you can't seem to look away, it's so fascinating. Sometimes I feel like the script was written by someone on cocaine! Lol! Not sure why it wasn't nominated at Baeksang, especially for the acting by the two leads; maybe it's just a matter of timing. Maybe it will be for next year's Baeksang Awards.

But I can tell you all this fabulous drama brought to you by a Daesang (highest level in Korea) both actor and actress as an FL n ML, it's so rare we can watch them in one frame together both FL n ML. "So it's very fantastic like the light that you never seen before!!!!" Maybe because of this Disney Hotstar series (you know Kim Soo Hyun scandal rights!), so it can't be able to nominate at Baeksang this year, because of last year Moving won Daesang, and this year Netflix series time,,,,,??? Maybe at Blue Dragon perhaps this series will take apart,.

Jisu Apr 09 2025 5:27 am Just finished the series tonight. All I can say is Woow. Mesmerizing acting from both female and male leads. The acting felt real, felt like they were the characters. I loved that! I felt like this drama could have been better if it was 10-12 eps because I feel like there was some things they could have explain better, and other things they didn’t even explain… did I still enjoyed? Absolutely. There’s nothing (in kdrama) like this nowadays. I will definitely rewatch and hope for a second season for all my questions to be answered!!

All he does is yelling "agasshi, agasshi", going tantrum out of no where, even provides no help to Jeong Seok. Park Eunbin is amazing, she's captivating to watch. She has proven once again she can play any role she takes on. No unnecessary annoying character in this drama, every character serves a purpose. It's a shame this drama only has 8 episodes. It deserves to have more.

I love morally grey characters like Seok and the contrast between her cute visuals and her unpredictable personality is so fun to watch. I also hope she doesn’t save Dr Choi and he dies exactly how she wishes. I get the feeling he’s jealous of her talent and he feels threatened by her presence, so he doesn’t wanted to suppress her. That kind of mentor doesn’t deserve to be saved by their student.

We already know that Eun Bin is a great actress but her roles after Extraordinary Woo are overkilll.

country bumpkin Jun 29 2024 11:38 pm To the special effects team of "Hyper Knife, I hope the surgery scenes depictions would be created to perfection. It is that hard, I know. I have no idea how to do it. But in some medical dramas, scenes depicting surgery, such as, biopsy scenes, say, heart transplants scene, or other human part removal surgery scenes are a bit too sketchy, coarse, or too clumsily performed. I mean surgeons dont remove or touch heart or other human parts like the way he cleans dirty dishes off the table. Or blood fluid depiction is too much, unreal, i thought more like kectchup sauces rather than real blood fluid. I apologize if i sound too annnoying. But I have so high expectation regarding Hyper Knife, want to see it perfectly crafted to the highest standard made possible by the latest technology available. Even the depiction of the surgeon sometimes is rather perfunctorily created. The surgeon got no sweat at all due to surgery went wrong. Just stood there indifferently.

Sabrina May 21 2024 2:29 am I am excited to see this program. These days, I find myself drawn to new shows based on particular actors I've enjoyed watching in other shows. In this case, it is definitely Park Eun-bin that is the draw card for me, but reviewing the biographies of all the main cast, and imagining the professionalism and excellence of craft required to have such biographies, I think Hyper Knife has the potential to be a standout Kdrama. Can't wait.
