Set during the Korean War, North Korean and Chinese prisoners of war are sent to a camp on Geoje Island in South Korea. The POW camp itself is under intense strife between prisoners who are pro-communists and anti-communists. Rho Ki-Soo (Do Kyung-Soo) is a young North Korean soldier held at the Geoje POW Camp.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Jackson (Jared Grimes) is ordered by a superior officer into forming a tap dancing team from the POW camp. He holds an audition in the camp and selects Chinese soldier Xiaofang (Kim Min-Ho), South Korean Kang Byung-Sam (Oh Jung-Se) who was falsely accused of being a communist sympathizer and civilian Yang Pan-Rae (Park Hye-Soo) who wants to support her family. Sergeant Jackson also recognizes the immense talent Rho Ki-Soo has for dance. Soon, the "Swing Kids" are formed, but will their dreams of dancing come true?

Sooo Good!!! the soundtrack is sooo expensive. can you imagine how much cost for the copyright pheww. and the shot is soo beautiful. the parallel scene omg i love it!! i love the cast, the cinematography, editing, sound. i feel sad it doesn’t get more recognition it deserves

Aera Apr 22 2020 8:46 pm i watched this last summer on a plane ride and ended up crying so much at the end. really amazing performance by kyungsoo and the rest of the cast. there is action, thriller, and a little bit of romance and comedy. also, kyungsoo did a good job with north korean dialect. highly recommend this movie, it was incredible~

The chemistry between all characters were great .I downloaded this due to D.O ,he amazed me with his so natural excellent acting & his commitment to his role.

I went to watch this show because of D.O, and the practices beforehand he needs to get ready for his role. But was captivated by the whole tap dancing team. Kudo to swing kids.

Mira Jan 18 2019 6:44 am This movie is a such a wonderful and brilliant movie with shocking plot twist. I watched it for Kyungsoo but ended up loving all of the cast. Everyone played their role so well in the movie, like all of them have a dreams they want to accomplish, when Kisoo and Panrae dancing to Modern Love by David Bowie (THE BEST PART) as if they tried to define freedom in a really difficult and impossible circumstances, my tears cant stop rolling during that scene till my husband who watched it with me gave me bunch of tissues lol.

Doh Kyungsoo as Roh Kisoo definitely a gift from heaven, he really outdid his previous projects with all his emotions he conveys especially during the final performance scene. This movie f*cked me up in so many level, shows us that we need to stop putting labels on each other to differentiate us, but we should all just put on those tap dance shoes and start dancing. Definitely a must watch movie!

Good Job Director Kang Hyeong Chul and for all staffs who worked really hard in this movie!

K Jan 13 2019 5:59 am one word for this movie: unforgettable Do Kyungsoo yet again proves to everyone that he is an actor that is capable of anything. When I say anything it’s really ANYTHING!! From shaving his hair, learning tap dancing despite hectic schedules, learning North Korean, balancing filming with exo’s activities . You could really see kyungsoo’s hard work, dedication and passion throughout this wonderful film, I am extremely proud of kyungsoo, the cast, the director and the staff members.

Director Kang, was able to present a film whereby it dicpicts the horrific scene of war and a heart warming story of people with different stories who come together to tap dance. Every scene, second, minute was worth watching. I was left heartbroken and was awe after finishing the movie TT

Please check out ‘Swing Kids’ in your local cinema. You won’t  regret watching this action packed, tearful, exciting and thrilling movie !!

Ki Dec 26 2018 10:48 pm The dancing in the film was amazing and made me literally want to get up tap dance with the performers (even though I got 2 left feet). I was also impressed by the performances of Do Kyung-Soo, Park Hye-Soo & Jared Grimes. Park Hye-Soo did a wonderful job of portraying a young woman able to speak English as a second learned language. That might sound easy, but all too often in movies they come off as someone that is a native English speaker pretending to speak broken English or someone that speaks broken English and pretending to be more advance than they are. She nailed that.

As director Kang Hyung-Chul seems to love 80's new wave music (reference his other films) there's this amazing scene in the film where out of the blue, David Bowie's "Modern Love" blasts out and Do Kyung-Soo and Park Hye-Soo dance like they are possessed (like they are dancing for their freedom on a figurative and literal level). For some strange reason that scene brought tears to my eyes. Two big thumbs up for this wonderful film.

All other cast are always good supporting characters Jung Se and Jin Joo who dance with Cho Jung Sok in Jealousy incarnate! i love her when she’s the supporting character.

I can’t wait to watch this! Looks it will be a breath of fresh air. I don’t understand how she has so much hate from petty sheep who like to follow bandwagons. I’m guessing it’s because she’s too perfect and people can’t stand that she has no flaws. You haters are picking at air. She can sing, act, dance, she’s gorgeous. Her acting is better than most. There’s definitely worse talent. If you hate her that much, don’t watch. She’s clearly too good for them to turn away.
