Yuri Saotome (Yuki Amami) is a successful business woman who runs a sports center and a beauty salon. She is also determined to one day achieve a gold medal vicariously through her children.

Yuri married a gold medalist to gain the proper genes and has four children from her marriage. After her divorce, she is still determined to attain a gold medal for her family. Her eldest son Kou (Tori Matsuzaka) is a swimmer, her second son Ren (Masato Yano) is an athlete, and her first daughter Akira (Emi Takei) does the high jump. Yet, behind Yuri's dreams a dark shadow looms ...

Can'tSwim Nov 15 2017 9:02 am Did Yuki really have to smack Akira that many times? Lol. This series had some good acting. Emi,Yuki and Masami were good. Everybody had great performances. It was worth watching.

You sound just like the lady who stabbed Jouji at the end ("it's nothing but arrogant, elitist crap"). As if it hasn't already been said enough, Yuuri's "rich and beautiful" life is full of painful encounters. Besides, this drama isn't trying to say anything about economic class status. Rika isn't rich, but she's got a hardworking and honest personality as well; Masaru started off a monster, but poor as he is, he changed for the better. Yeah sure Jouji helped but if Masaru himself really didn't want to change, he could still remain as a monster. But he did not, because HE wanted to change himself.

The key thing here is that the drama is not trying to tell you not to live your life. It's saying that a lot of young people these days want to "live their lives" when they haven't even put their efforts into anything. They haven't even achieved anything or proven anything and yet they want to "live their lives" however they want? They want freedom? Well too bad to pop your bubble, but freedom doesn't come easy. If you haven't fought for it and you haven't achieved anything to prove you deserve it, how do you expect people of the world and of the society to acknowledge your freedom? Oh, then again I suppose with the way kids are brought up today, it's a BIRTHRIGHT to have freedom, huh? I think you need to realize that this is not true for a majority of the rest of the world. Freedom doesn't come as a birthright for a lot of them and they fight day to day, even dying, only for more censorship, brutality, and silencing. If you can't accept that then you are missing the point of this drama. It's telling us to keep fighting, do not give up.

Olympians are allowed to have tattoos, but some have to conceal them with tape or bandage anyway simply because they are representing their country and it may not an acceptable symbol. When people participate in the Olympics it's not just their game anymore. It's a game concerning the world and countries, and it's naive or even childish to demand other people to accept their every single little wish, like letting them have a tattoo. Wake up - it's not all about what ONE person wants and how ONE person wants to do things; it involves other people as well and if one still wants to be in it, compromises have to be made. For Yuuri it was very simple: if you want to be in the Olympics, you can't have a tattoo. If you want a tattoo no matter what, then you can't go into the Olympics. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

The rich and the beautiful save the world against the dastardly poor who threaten their lives. Don't live your life, do what your parents tell you. And god forbid do not get a tattoo. Even one week after watching it I'm still angry at it.
