Oh-Gwang (Lee Cheol-Min) is vicious real estate broker. One day, he gets into an accident while driving on a mountain path. Two days later, he wakes up. Oh-Gwang finds himself at the home of Mr. Jang (Oh Gwang-Rok), which is located deep in the mountain. Oh-Gwang was saved by Mr. Jang's family. The family consists of Mr. Jang, his wife Yeon-Hee, son Hyun-Seok and daughter So-Hee. They are very nice to Oh-Gwang, but something about the family is suspicious. The family might be hiding something from Oh-Gwang.

This is a much under-rated movie which should have received higher ratings and more viewing by the public.

As a major in Religious Studies, this film has a definite religious overtone to it, and is similar to the first version of Jacob's Ladder (1990)* but without the drug references in the American film

Both films refer to the Catholic concept of Purgatory, where the elect of those religions that espouse it, are 'cleansed' of their sins between earth and Heaven.

Oh-Gwang (Lee Cheol-Min), as revealed by the unfolding story, was personally responsible for the deaths of all of the Jang household members:

Mr Jang died from suicide after his friend ran off with the land payment money Jang owed to Oh-Gwang;

Both ladies were sexually compromised by Oh-Gwang due to a) money owed him by the older lady and the children of the older woman coming back from school while she was being being sexually taken advantage of by Oh-Gwng and b) his taking advantage of a young female job seeker...resulting in both females taking their lives,

and the (un-named) motorcyclist played by Shin Won-Ho, who died as a result of Oh-Gwang calliousness toward an accident that he is indirectly involved in.

Although Oh-Gwang figures out the identity of all four of the Jang household near the end, his character didn't learn anything from his near-death experience, and he ultimately pays the price for his refusal to change at the very end...

(I saw what was going to happen even before it did!)

Again, a much-underrated film by Lee Soo-Sung.

Sorry, but I haven't had the time to watch the 2019 remake of Jacob's Ladder yet.
