High School student Akiko Omiya is the manager for her school's baseball team. She hopes to take her team to the Koshien baseball tournament during that summer. Akiko Omiya then feels pain in her throat. She is diagnosed with cancer. Akiko is overcome with emotions.
Later, Akiko Omiya watches the baseball team practice as they hope to make it to the Koshien baseball tournament. Akiko Omiya promises to the team that she will get better and return to the baseball team, while the baseball team promises they will make it to the tournament.
