Lee Yeo-Reum (Seol Hyun) gets dumped by her boyfriend and, soon after, her mother dies in an accident. She goes through one of her worst moments in her life. Lee Yeo-Reum then makes the decision to live a complete different life from before and not do anything. She quits her job and moves to a small village, where everything is strange to her. There, she meets the residents, including An Dae-Beom (Yim Si-Wan), and gets to know them. An Dae-Beom works as a librarian. He hardly talks to people, but, when he does, he talks with a stutter. Somehow he gets comfortable and happy being with Lee Yeo-Reum. Throughout this time, Lee Yeo-Reum also discovers who she really is.

Loved it but missed the romance between Male and Female lead.. the couple is very nice and the age difference is also not too much but I don know why there is no kissing scenes in between them.. we r not saying it's mandatory but it's also add the cuteness of a relationship atleast they hold hands which is also very nice .. but we can have Nose kiss Cheek kiss kind of types... But still the strong support of Dae Beom can be seen towards Yo Reum and Yo Reum has been the greatest support for all.. she Endures her pain and quietly covers up for other's pain .. Bom acting is very nice natural... Yim Siwan and Seol Hyun r very awesome.. and Mr. Bae and Jin Young ? make nice couple.. Dae oh did well yet get limited scenes but he is good .. Geon oh acting awesome as crazy being .. I don like Grandma Death bcz I loved that super smiley strong character.. I love Yim Siwan Hairstyling and the cut he have .. this is the best suited hairstyle in him I felt.. Yim Siwan u r damn Beautiful .. God's grace u got very perfect face cut .. ur eyes r intense.. Seol Hyun I loved u in Orange Marmalade and here too in Summer Strike... U r too cute and I feel u r very awesome in ur real life too.. I feel like u r sister with Park Shin Ye ( The Heirs) female lead . I want to See Yim Siwan and Seol Hyun as real couple too .. bcz the make a very sweet cute couple in this series.. and I also want to see u as couple in other' series' too where u guies must have more romantic scenes please.. humble request from all.. Oolaa Jul 13 2025 9:44 am Never a fan of romance and light hearted Kdramas. I prefer dramas with a strong plot and suspense but I stumbled upon this and I was a bit surprised.

I can relate to the protagonist. Like her, I've been dealing with pressures with society and wanting to be free as my oan. So just seeing the first episode made me intrigued. I continied on and on and the whole story is so good. Her adjustment with her new life in an unfriendly little town with a beautiful scenery is not over the top. It's realistic and progressive I love it.

Again, not really a fan of romance so I'm not that fond with Bom's subplot with the clingy immigrant guy. I was intrigued when there's a murder mystery, but honestly it felt so sudden and resolved so quickly it's not satisfactory. Mr. Jihoon is quite decent.

Really good drama with a relatable message, but for the romantic people out there, the romance part is just a subplot.

It is a simple but beautiful story of a young woman who decides to leave her unhappy life and take a year off. She ends up in a little town by the sea and starts her year there. Her ups and downs and awkward attempt to make friends is a fun and sometimes bittersweet journey. I love when a cast of misfits and outcasts come together and magic happens. This is what happens in this drama and I wish there were more like this. Loved it!

Loveee the simple and delightful moments when the FL is just hanging out with her friends, when she does her tiny reflections (whoever is writing it deserves a hug) especially the ending when she said happiness is simply not lacking anything and she appreciates the small little moments of her daily life in Angok Also ML is so well written, he’s so thoughtful and genuine in his love and it’s so cuteee Wish the ML and her had more moments tho

-3 because the beginning was frustrating, murder plot should be reduced and grandma shouldn’t die, and I wish they could focus more on the love story of the leads

Plus, living in a village where the residents are not friendly to newcomers, Na ah. After light shop, I miss SeolHyun so I came to this, and feel more sorry about her because the villagers, damn you all.

KayKam15 Oct 25 2024 3:49 pm Ok honestly the murder storylines really shocked me as everyone on social media raved about how calming and soothing and sunshine and rainbows this show was. Being an empathetic and sensitive viewer, I am so freaking annoyed over the unnecessary and extreme trauma the writers have inflicted the male lead with. I get it's a k-drama thing, but maybe alter the intensity a bit? We started off with a fabulous dip in the ocean only to witness disturbing scenes later on, that too without warning. No show has p!ssed me off this much. Why does slice of life mean life in its truest and most truest sense...why can't it be light and less intense than life? Why am I even turning on Netflix? The news channel should be enough.

Polly Sep 03 2024 10:40 am Very underrated drama. This is soo good. Great cast, natural acting, good storyline. It's now ine of my favorites being a kdrama watcher for 15 years now. Too bad the production had to be cut down to 12 episodes. Obviously, these should have been a 16 ep drama but maybe due to poor rating it had to be cut short. I don't get it why this didn't appeal to most people. If the story continued to its original broadcasting, we could have seen bom and yeo rum winning tje webtoon contest, bom's father going back and being not forgiven, and a development is yeo Rum and dae Bom's love story. But inspite of tjat, the drama is still satisfying and will Be one of the dramas that i will keep on watching repeatedly.

JennyB Jun 07 2024 6:22 pm Kept slipping this drama thinking it was going to be boring or annoying. I WAS WRONG! This is a feel good, slow burn and amazing drama. I love the FL and ML, superb acting..all the cast hit their role to the letter... Love love love it. It also reminded me that we all need different things in and from life, we all can't be bustling and about doing a 9-5 in corporate or business etc, some people just want the basic and the calm, nothing too much and that in itself is okay. Figure out what works best for you and do it because; "Happiness is Sufficiency" Thank you for this drama

The village Angok 's view really heals the viewers.I really love to the story and acting of this drama. I love almost all the characters in this drama. Im si wan and Seolhyun has a great chemistry here. This drama's story is not the usual story of a kdrama. So hope you too will enjoy watching this masterpiece. It will really calm down your mind. I will recommend this drama to all who like to watch countryside dramas.

I love the tandem of Lee Yeoreum (Seolhyun) and An Daebom (Im Siwan) so much. They look super adorable, especially Daebom; he is the perfect definition of a golden retriever personality. Siwan played the role so perfectly in this drama. Deserving of 10/10! All the characters are interesting; it would be more fun if this show had more than 12 episodes. This drama definitely deserves a lot of attention.

I get the point of view of some of the reviewers; this would be a wholesome drama if they just removed the mystery and thrill genres. I love this show, but it would be better if it were just a romance or slice-of-life Korean drama. Nonetheless, I still give this a perfect 10 since I love everything about it. I hope to see all characters in more projects too!

syl Dec 17 2023 12:50 am just finished the last episode and im literally sobbing…. this may have been one of the best dramas I’ve ever watched in my life.

from start to finish, i was hooked - from yeorum’s hardships, to the simpleness of the countryside… her gradual relationships to those around her… most especially the innocent and quiet love yeorum and daebum have for each other. I don’t think I’ll ever come across another drama like this.

I just wish that the last couple of episodes weren’t so condensed, and that they should’ve made it a 16 episode instead It would be so amazing if there was a season 2, but the ending basically put a stop to that…

Anyways, cheers to this drama! Tears were definitely shed, and many scenes have provoked the thoughts of the meaning of fulfilment in my life. yet my heart is so full.

Simple, lovely, heartwarming, funny, relaxing, sweet, I think you should watch this at least once in your life. Recommended to watch.

yshcmil Jul 19 2023 11:55 am its soooo good 10000/10 its honestly my dream like to live alone by myself and enjoy my peace. im an introvert person and i really like to spend time with myself more, like doing my hobby watching a movie and kdrama. the characters really express my personality hahahah i relate so much. from today this is my favorite kdrama. and also really like the concept of the drama im into thriller genre and it have on it. its so peaceful. while i was watching it i was smiling the whole time and admiring every episode. its just sad because i just done watching it in just 2 days its so good i feel like im dying.

This is a real comfort drama, that you won't even realize how long your eyes were glued on your device' screen. The chemistry between the leads is cute. The romance between the leads was not given emphasis but it still gave me butterflies. I agree with the comments saying that the plot was messed up with that murder thing, but anyways the drama is still worth the watch. Give it a try!

taiga Jun 26 2023 10:33 am I like the vibe of the drama, but the female lead is a bit annoying. We get she’s a good person, but it’s to a fault that is unrealistic and frustrating . You quit your job and made a plan for how you want to live for a year without working, Bom’s hospital bill needed to be paid so you were going to collect the deposit on your house, add your last savings and pay it, Then What? You’re homeless and broke?? You already bought a dog cause you wanted to “save it”, I haven’t seen a character written like this probably since park shin hye in the heirs, just straight up annoying and unrealistically “good”. I think people dying was also very unnecessary to the plot of the drama. There were scenes that had so much potential between the leads that were just cut short, like how the second leads kissed before the main leads did (Spoiler the never kissed). The rain scene was perfect then they just cut it, I was so confused when nothing happened. I do love the chemistry between the leads, it’s that very cute and shy love kinda pace. I’ve had reasons to drop this drama tbh, but I’m still watching for the romance between the leads, which they Surprisingly don’t give too much of, which is annoying cause the drama really could’ve focused more on that, than Killing People! The end was very unsatisfactory for me, the murder mystery wasn’t interesting, and I don’t think dae bum even really cared about it lol. They focused so much on that, and nothing, that the romance (which was the most interesting thing about the drama) was cut short, almost nonexistent, just like a friendship where they have a crush, but never act on it.

Autumn May 24 2023 9:23 am I'm just into the third episode, but I feel like this will be my favorite Korean drama in a long time. There's no intensely captivating plot, so I'm not addictive to binge watching episodes after episodes -- which I'm very glad about, because I also want to have time to live my own life :) I love how this drama focuses on the personal development of Yeo Reum instead of on romantic love. At least in the first few episodes, the drama portrays a young woman finding happiness and meaning of her life by relying on her own self -- her intelligence, bravery, and kindness -- instead of on some guy like in typical romance dramas. That said, the main male lead, Jae Bum, is also very cute and I'm so happy whenever I see him in the drama ^_^

I really want to say thank you to the author of the webcomic and the director of this movie for creating such a good piece!

There is nothing standout in the story. The main casts are also nobody I know having watching many Kdramas for two decades. (I guess, this helps a bit, as seeing so many familiar faces oftenly in different dramas can be boring, no matter how good they are.) They are also not super beautiful like most KDramas. The plot is also predictable. This is a slice of life drama, which is nor usually not my genre. But, very weird, this is the kdrama I watched effortlessly this year. Everything just flow so naturally and beautifully.

I will not write about the plot as I do not like spoilers nor to spoil.

But, believe, as light entertaining, this kdrama performs wonderfully.

And I have to say that the OSTs are one of the best of you can find in Kdramas. I especially love the ones performesld by Jihyo and Seola (after searching them in Youtube).

Kudos and thanks to the those who produced this beautiful drama.

Paul Mar 12 2023 7:12 pm One of the best recent Korean dramas. I usually watch them for sheer escapism but this had meaning and substance from the beginning. Everyone can benefit from its themes of minimalism and contentment/happiness from the ordinary and everyday aspects of life. A great cast.

Everyone deserve a recognition for this! This is amazing and so many life lesson can be learned. How I wish [spoiler] the writer focus on the love story of Dae Bum and Yeo Rum they have such a great great chemistry. Plssss cast the main lead again to create a masterpiece, I bawled may eyes on the latter eps. Overall, this drama is perfect, even though the first eps is a bit boring, but you’ll love it.

+ i really luv Jun, everytime he appears I kept on replaying it, I wish he had more screentime. He’s so cute, even in hospital playlist he’s my fave character.

It is a slice of life drama with a lot to learn about how to live and the inevitability of cycle of suffering and happiness. Would recommend to those who like to watch realistic dramas.

I wish the writer didn’t go to that plot instead, they focus on female lead new found life in the countryside (minus the murder). It is ashamed bc the two lead has perfect chemistry and the supporting actors are good too. I like it but I don’t think I will rewatch this.

Kelly Mar 03 2023 1:38 am I find female lead very pretty and so natural in her acting. She has great chemistry with male lead. Supporting characters were also very good. This could have been a perfect kdrama. Setting, characters, soundtrack, the natural acting of the casts. Its my first kdrama where ive seen the poor female lead repeats the same clothes all throughout the drama. It made sense coz she only brought few pieces of clothing when she moved to Angok. In some kdramas, some leads were supposedly poor or were runaways but wears nice clothes and wears different clothes every single day of their drama lives. The story though i loved it felt so lacking and unsatisfying. Too many unfortunate events towards the end of the series that were not resolved properly. Bom’s character is very understandable. The murder plot that was injected in was such a disappointment. Seemd like the writer tried too hard to add mystery and suspense to the story. I really thought this was a light and refreshing drama that i would enjoy and would watch again and again but i wasn’t satisfied with how it turned out. Maybe because i was hoping more cute interactions between the main leads. Arrgh…how i wish i could see them work together again in the future!

London Tommy Feb 28 2023 1:24 am After viewing some 200 K-dramas, I think this is the first time I've seen the F word appear in the subtitlling.

Not only that, but it is all over the place.

Now, I'm not the kind of person that gets shocked about bad language, but I'm asking myself if it is accurate to the drama, or is the subtitler being a bit liberal.

For example, the lead character at the start is a very unhappy work situation and her boss is effing this, and effing that, at her.

Now, I live in London and in the professional atmosphere of an office, that kind of language would be seriously unacceptable. So, I'm thinking to myself that the Korean equivalent might not be as strong as the 'F' word and its over the top to translate it so.

It's a really good drama, but that course subtitling is pretty shocking to my ears.

Minus point that the second lead had a kissing scene but not the main lead?!?! Bom’s character is also annoying, but Dae-bum and Yeo-reum’s chemistry is cute and superb. It would be best that the story focuses on the main leads success at the end. Anyhow, no dull moments/scene for me and I have watched it within the day.

I get so tired of every Korean drama today adding criminal elements to their stories. What's wrong with the concept of keeping it simple and romantic and beautiful, without several characters being murdered? Ugh. Bring back the days of the beautiful Four Seasons' Korean dramas. They started the Hallyu Wave, so learn something from them again, Korea.

Lara Dec 29 2022 3:57 am I love love love this drama ! So many lessons to learn. Very refreshing and calming. Im Si Wan is so cute. I didnt like the FL at first but the character development is really good and I like how modest she is. I give 9/10 for this.

Don't be consumptive, happiness doesn't have to be rich or a lot of money, just buy the things you need, be happy and grateful in carrying out your daily activities, always be grateful for what you have, and be positive in every way

seina Dec 27 2022 10:29 am I Love all about this drama execpt Kim Bom! I found that her character is so annoying. So childish and selfish!! How she was so rude to Jae hoon even though this boy was always close to her, also how she thought of killing himself leaving his dongsaeng Ha neul alone even his dongsaeng could think of quitting school and working in the construction for the family.

Other than Kim Bom, I do love all the character of this drama.. super fun and interesting story, light and sweet. Good job for the writer, staffs and all actors!!

Stripes Dec 26 2022 10:13 pm Having watched lots of crime drama, I figured out early on who's the killer. But still a great drama after all. It makes me think about throwing my city life and move to the countryside. Not all can do such a liberating act. More of Im Si Wan's project, please.

I still dont get the motive of Mr. Kwak and his son. Why did mr Kwak suggested Yeoreum to live in the building? Do they really plan to kill her from the start? Is it a set up for Geunho, to get rid of a witness? But how do they know hes a witness?

Shows human nature, human feelings of love, trust, hate, selfishness, resentment but the most is humility and asking a second chance. Like what is said let them love you, hate you, resent you but time will come when we meet again and say “ it has been awhile, i missed you”!

M Dec 21 2022 5:58 am I'm so frustrated watching this drama.... Mainly because Yeorum is shown as one dimensional - 98% weak/pushover, 1% kind, 1% friendly. I can't sympathise with her character.

Daebom has so much more dept to him and I want to know HIS story more than hers, I want him to have more screen time. Siwan is such a great actor.

Now I will try and find the webtoon...

Jash Dec 20 2022 10:53 am This a story of both introverts. Since I am into calm male leads these days, I never hesitated watching this. I also recently finished Run On ( though I never completed it before). Siwan's role is kinda similar with his role in Run On (esp, Daebum's hobby, his pure and naive personality and being introvert). This is why Kdramas really have twists,, still confused who's the suspect. It never stays on one genre,, and that's really good. I think 12 episodes will not suffice my love this drama.. I miss my hometown than before upon watching this

On the 10th episodes, i came to realization that this drama just show how cruel the real world is.Those characters, they exist in real life, in your neighbourhood and if you choose to be weak like Yeoreum and Daebum who never defend theirselves... i don't think you could survive by having those naive thoughts. I truly hope that Yeoreum and Daebum could be stronger and walk on a happier path in Angok universe ?❤️

dramaviewers Dec 19 2022 1:23 am Angok village residents are very problematic (except for Daebum, Jaehoon, Moochul the police officer and Haneul). They're not different from Yeoreum's colleague at office.

First, Mr. Bae Youngho (Sunah's Billiard Owner). He blamed Yeoreum for vandalism. Said that it's her fault when she didn't do anything that destroy the building. She even clean it and decorate it. If i were her, i wouldnt rent that building. Too dirty, too dark and not safe.

Second, Bae Sungmin. He did a lot of things to upset Yeoreum on the early episodes. Luckily, he got character development. Suddenly he became kind and care for his son's fault.

Third, Bom. She was rude to Yeoreum on early episodes. She's also not a filial grand daughter. She came home late and doesn't say anything to the grandma, making her worried. She's a high school student but can't take care of herself. She make her grandmother do all the chores, even got angry at grandma for not washing her shoes. And after her grandma's sudden pass away, she knew that Yeoreum is innocent but still hate her because she has no one to blame. Oh, she also hurt Jaehoon's feelings for many times. Jaehoon deserves better.

Fourth, Bom's Grandmother. She always potrayed as a kind person in this drama. But i think of the opposite. She is the kind of character that i really hate. I think she's only kind because she is poor and try to make people pity of her. She is kinda manipulative. She always ask Yeoreum to take care of her grandchildren. She never report any crime to the police. Instead, she protect the culprit. She protect her son who stabbed her grand daughter. She protect Geunho who did vandalism at Yeoreum's house. Even influence Yeoreum softly to keep quiet about this. That's why i didnt pity her death at all.

Fifth, Bom's Father. He is an alcoholic. He is rude to his mom and the children. It was too late for him to realize how precious his family is. And.... I cant accept the fact that he slapped Yeoreum in front of everyone while Yeoreum always help his family. If it's not for Yeoreum, Daebum won't sell his paper to pay Bom's medical bill. You should be grateful, you brat.

Sixth, Hwang Chansoo and Song Ok Soon (the restaurant owner and Geunho's parents) Ok Soon is very rude. She tortured a dog and manipulate Yeoreum to pay a lot for the dog's freedom. She can't raise her son properly. She did a lot of things that upsetting me during the investigation and funeral. She is too self centered. She think that she could make anyone to do what she wants but actually no ma'am. You can't do that!

Seventh, Jiyoung. She loves Daebum, good. She took care of Daebum, good. But i think it became an obsession. She knew Daebum only think of her as noona and a friend. But she still ask for more. Even said a lot of things that hurt Yeoreum's feeling. Making Yeoreum blame herself for coming to Angok.

Eight, Daebum's professor. He manipulate Daebum to work for him. He also exploit Daebum. He didnt care about Daebum at all. He only care about the science project and make Daebum work for it even though it would detoriate Daebum's mental health.

I wish i wouldnt see those characters on any healing dramas anymore.

Lili Nov 22 2022 5:39 am Im si wan ok i knew him but the female lead not so sure..hope its as good as that other drama titled whatever blues kdrama with lots of veteren talents & the romcom one with shi min ah as a frustrated dentist at a seaside town & another romcom kdrama where the famous actor hide but end up at the the island . The beach country side town vibes.. those kdrama kinda have similar vibes. Hope this one also can b entertaining & will deliver fun entertaining side not just the chillex & healing part. Will try first few eps as usual.

Also, the webtoon's female lead looks too similar to Kim Yoo Jung, from the eye mole, hairstyle, and fashion. And a cinnamon roll.

I wonder if YeoReum is drawn to be based on Kim Yoo Jung and if there were casting offers for her. This is due to Im Si Wan as male lead as well.

But I'm glad Seolhyun played this character, she might fits that healing melodrama type.
