Anna Feb 22 2026 8:53 am One of the worst K-dramas I’ve ever watched. The FL started off as an ambiguous and intriguing character, but everything fell apart when the writers decided to change the synopsis to make her more likable... and still failed miserably. In the end, I genuinely couldn’t care less whether she lived or died. On top of being irritating, the actress’s mediocre performance did nothing to help. To make matters worse, the chemistry between her and her romantic counterpart was practically nonexistent. It’s no surprise that viewers in Korea were rooting for YC and SH in the finale, even though they were morally questionable characters. In fact, SH had the potential to become a truly compelling villain, but audiences ended up being charmed by him and his tragic fate. Frankly, the best characters were GNS and JTS. With a vague “Get the Chairman” theme, each day is another stunt. Thrown off a multi-story building, poisoned, hit at full speed by a car, the victims just get a few days rest and are back to normal as if nothing happened. Stealing designs, assassination plots, they seem to alternate. And nobody seems bothered by the unwitting in cest between Jung Won and Se Hun once it was revealed that Jung Won was the Chairman’s daughter (sure, Se Hun isn’t really his son, but they don’t know that.). The only good thing are the funny interactions between Gong Su, Secretary Ku, and the Grandma channeling Chef. esso Jan 24 2026 4:32 pm Are they writing this script day by day? How many times will the evil characters betray everyone around them LSY Jan 22 2026 8:56 am it might turn out that Joo Yeong-Chae was really the biological daughter of Mi Hyang, and Joo Ha-Neul was the real son of Gong Nan Sook. Yeong Chae was probably the real Jung Won girl who tried to save Su Ah and got knocked down by car, lost her memory and not sure how she ended up becoming daughter of Gong Nan Sook. lol. I think Jeong-Won character is one of the three FL characters in kdramas whom I do not sympathise with. Stupid and stubborn like her father. Avid for a luxurious life like her mother. I watch the drama only now and then, when there's nothing better to see. So I just saw the scene where Jeongwon classmates bullied her. And I wonder, none of them saw the articles where she was referred to as Yeongchae? Anna Dec 25 2025 10:58 am This drama started promisingly, with an ambiguous character obsessed with money and status. But once revenge left the scene, the story completely lost its way. It feels like nonsense, and I end up forgetting to watch it. The couple? A disaster. No chemistry, hypocritical, pretending to be pure, when in reality they use and discard anyone who’s no longer useful. JW exploited SH to climb socially, while the “friend” HN betrayed him and covered up every lie of the con-artist lover. Rooting for people like this? Impossible. abc Dec 25 2025 4:21 am The 1st FL is still making that funny expression with her twisted mouth, that makes her face looks very hostile. I really don't know how to describe that. But the sympathetic words and that expression don't jell. It makes her words very surreal. The 2nd FL is more convincing and a better actress. The 2 MLs are on par. Looks so malnourished & definitely not seductive! The whole plot is crazy. In the first place, why would Nansook turn to Taeseok for help when she killed her husband. A loan shark doesn't have muscle? Why would she want to give Taeseok something to hold over her? Kibeom was a good man and I'm sorry he was killed. His crazy daughter doesn't blame herself when she started the whole crazy thing. She acts as if she will just go in, take revenge and exit in triumph. Now she wants revenge for her Dad. Jamse Dec 11 2025 3:28 pm The first 50ish episodes were solid and engrossing, but it makes you wonder if they’ll be able to maintain in the second half of the drama. All the secrets are known, so what will it be? More stolen designs, sabotaged orders, kidnappings, locked in rooms, in mortal peril, etc etc etc? In other words, typical drama fare? Then subsequent episodes was like she didn't know that was her Mum! Actors looks, facial expressions and body language play a big part in portraying a scene so it is natural they be judged for it. To me, I find it's getting absurd and tedious. Also, I do not really care for the main leads. Haneul and Sehun are both rather soft. Jeongwon and Yongchae are both unlikeable characters. Pretty of not (I think she looks fine), pulling off this kind of role is not easy and the acting has been good for me so far. I do not like Ha-Neul, though. Too indecisive. Heavily prefer Se-Hun at the moment. Lee Seung-Yeon is a legend, bad actress? Yeah, she's overacting, but that's common in daily dramas. And the budget is clearly higher in this drama, there's a lot of outdoor scenes, real places being filmed at, the outfits are better, and the sets had a little makeover! She was repeatedly told to forget the woman who abandoned her child. Think it would take more than a drawing to convince her that Hyera didn't intend to leave her. But I do think that Hyera was selfish and wrong to want to secure her own position before bringing Jeongwon with her. @sf, that would be very interesting indeed! Somehow I thought that the wedding would not happen. Her stupid revenge is worth a punishment. The best punishment for her will be if the real Joo Yeong-Chae manipulates things so that Han Hye-Ra believes that she is the real daughter. When all Han Hye-Ra's love and attention will be only for the real Yeong-Chael, believing that she is her daughter, that will be the punishment for Jeong-Won. No word or scorn as to her mother's job? Very unlikely and totally unbelievable. Yes, agree about Lee Seung Yeon. Don't remember drama titles but I haven't really watched kdramas for that long. The first time I saw her, I thought she was a good actress. The second drama, she had on garish makeup, very weird dressing and very unfeminine. I thought it was strange for the role she was playing. In all the shows, her character has no dress sense, walks like a tomboy, etc. Regarding manners, dramas portray the rich as very lacking in that department. But he didn't kill him. He and the loanshark are neck-and-neck in crimes. Having said that, I think Hyera's long separation from her daughter is mainly her fault. Her first thought was for herself "can't live as a murderer's wife". She could have taken Jeongwon with her or best, stayed put. Mihyang and Jeongwon stayed by Gibeom's side and you can see the strong bond. I don't like Jeongwon. Most of the time she has a weird expression on her face. Hard to warm up to her. The 2 most likeable characters are Gibeom and Haneul. I feel sorry for Sehun. Will he become a villain when the truth is revealed? And she's forever saying "do you know who I am? I am Joo Yeong Chae". As if someone like that would stay under the radar. Overacting - always either with the hands in the pocket or sitting with legs wide open. Even if she's wearing pants, it looks very vulgar especially done by an old woman. Jeongwon has to smile. It’s too staged. It’s like looking at a filming stage, where they show open rooms, one next to another. It’s not naturally flowing! Up to now, episode 6 the main lead female character, is not at all a very natural actress. This series compared to so many other excellent series, is a cheap production. Apparently budget was low. Perfect timing since Queen's House just ended... and the last episode was awfully lame. The cast is attractive, the frenemies side plot is thrilling - and don't get me started on the rags to riches trope. 30 minutes of pure fun. Another mother vs. daughter drama. The previous drama in its timeslot, Queen's House, was really good! Let's see if this holds up. Just like unknown woman and red Shoes,this drama is also about a mother and daughter fighting each other. Most likely the themes like plagiarism and seducing a man about to get married will also come in the story.
