In 1990, within a middle-class apartment complex in Seoul, Kim Myeong-Jun (Lee Byung-Hun) hides his identity as an elite North Korean spy. He has been living in South Korea for more than 10 years. He lives with his wife Yun Hwa-Kyeong (Han Ji-Min). She is also a North Korean spy. They have settled in South Korea as an exquisitely disguised married couple. Meanwhile, Detective Cha Ki-Seok (Lee Hee-Jun), who is a former homicide detective, but now works in the counter-espionage investigation division, moves in next door to Kim Myeong-Jun and Yun Hwa-Kyeong.
