Cheongryeom Laundry has been run by Lee Da-Rim's (Keum Sae-Rok) family for 3 generations. They try to make ends meet by working hard, hoping they can iron out their dreams. Seo Kang-Joo (Kim Jung-Hyun) is the son of the wealthiest family in the Cheongryeom neighborhood. He works as a senior director of the Jiseung Group. 8 years ago, Seo Kang-Joo and Lee Da-Rim attended the same university. Prior to enlisting in the military, he had an unforgettable experience with Lee Da-Rim.

Now, Seo Kang-Joo reunites with Lee Da-Rim and gets involved with her. Since she was in her teens, Lee Da-Rim's eyesight has deteriorated and she had limited vision. After turning 30 years old, Lee Da-Rim completely lost her vision, but there is hope that she will be able to see again. An injection that is extremely expensive may give her vision back.

This drama is so entertaining and yet very heartwarming. I love the flow of this drama and also each of character growth is so amazing. It's well written and balance.

Would give a standing ovation for this drama.

Dan May 23 2025 3:43 am I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't miss the chemistry between the leads, although I would have liked them to have more romantic moments together because I feel like their charm together was a bit wasted. But I understand that was the tone of the show. Still, I'd like to congratulate the entire team responsible for it. Iron Family is a great, warm, and entertaining comedy, and every performance had me on the edge of my seat. Anyone who wants to see a long-running, heartwarming comedy shouldn't miss this show; it's brilliant!

California Feb 10 2025 1:32 am Just finished watching this drama and I agree with the previously posted positive statements about this drama and the stars from it. Here are my additional opinions.

All of the actors and actresses were excellent in their respective roles. The writer and director were both excellent in their production of this drama.

All of them deserve a toast for their performances, which cheerfully entertained us for several months. Definitely wished that the drama was longer.

Both Kim Jung-Hyun and Keum Sae-Rok were exquisitely superb and gave outstanding performances worthy of their individual and couples awards.

I would like to also give extra attention and credit to both Kim Young-Ok and Park In-Hwan, who gave magnificent performances, and who demonstrated an epitome of what grandmas and grandpas should be like (such as altruism, positive role models, patience and generosity).

For them, I would like to give them a standing ovation with a glass of champagne and cheer them on for their outstanding contributions. And, give them an honorary couples award. Bravos!

In various sports, coaches have a term, Impact Player, they used for a person who spreads exemplary performance on the selected sport, and who almost singlehandedly helps win games. I nominate Kim Hye-Eun as the "Impact Champion" in this drama. Although her role was to play a “just” nasty character, she performed marvelously switching from that unforgiving character to a remorseful person effortlessly and convincingly.

Without her outstanding portrayal of basically a blithely narcissist to her transformation into a somewhat reasonable person, this drama wouldn’t have a gaudy villainess to balance the goodness of the drama.

Looking forward to seeing the actresses and actors in more dramas in the future.

lyhns00 Feb 03 2025 11:02 am I love this drama especially Seo Gangju. He and the grandparents totally carried this drama. I love the ending so much, at first I thought there's no way Baek Ji Yeon would get away with the money that easily when she's guilty of taxes evading. She finally gave up the money for Gangju.

I love the narrative that Jiyeon's father left the money for his daughter and she also gave up the money for her son. The grandparents at first stole the money to help their daughter inlaw made living. Ko Bong Hee also stole the money for Darim's eye surgery. This drama centered around the money but always them cared for others not their own.

Finally Jiyeon gave up the money for Gangju is the best closure for the drama but so far she only donated one and agreed for another one. I also think she will continue to do that. She's the best character I think, shameless yet realest.

For almost two decades, I have been constantly bothered by it again and again, coz the series are often very detailed, many things happen, many main chars are introduced in the series, but towards the end everything is done very quickly and a lot is left out.

Everything always seems very rushed. Oh, f***, we're already in the last episode go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go!

I don't even like Gang Joo, Cha Rim, Moo Rim and Mi Yeon LOL. But i enjoy the story i watch this drama coz the eldery, Bong Hee and Tae Woong Why the eldery have to go to jail? Mr Ji and Tae Woong can't find good lawyer? They can have probation or something, right?!

Kristine Jan 23 2025 11:37 pm There is a statute of limitations on crimes. Which is why she waited until 1/1 to report the money missing. I don’t know why they don’t charge the family for lying to police about the theft.

If the lawyer had not stopped the laundry mom from confessing they could have arrested tax evader mom in the allotted time. Even found the money on her. She would have owed 13 million and gone to prison. Briefly. This is Korea after all. So the son helped her by no returning the money to her but to the mom.

Clearly they will get the love capital people in the end. So the laundry family off the hook and maybe even ex wife off the hook, or she will die in the process of it all.

Why is a woman divorced and a contract signed with him owning the house still in the house?

Chairman, stepson and elder grandparents awesome. Everyone else is okay or just unlikeable.

And the grandson at 12 expecting 2K a month tuition as if it is the one way to be a doctor and the food guy chastising mom over being real will the kid. I know it is Korea but seriously? Even ex husband has some reality going on. The country is nuts. You know a grade on a math test has nothing to do with how many answers are correct. It’s a rank system. Say there are 100 in the 10th grade. 4 student get rank 1. That is 100%. 7 students get rank 2 that is 96% and above. 12 student get rank 3. That is 95%. You could get an 80% and fail with a rank 7-9. If she just invested in Samsung for 10 years 24K each year of school then nothing in college by the time 30 would have enough hundreds of thousands.

How can Ji Yeon tell Bong Hee and family to pack up and move because she do not want to see their face, who do she think she is (one spoil bit**), they did not know that the money they took from the mountain belong to her, she is a really angry bit**and is not their fault she being called out for not paying taxes on the money (which she should) and I hold the guy from the lending services get her really good, since she ratted him out to the bank he work with.

So sad for Murim, coz even if the theft is pardon (money returned, or idk what other technicalities they pull), he can't be a cop anymore, his marriage is also ruined, while the rest of his siblings will be able to move on with their partners.

How about the tax evader? Will she really get Scot free besides the ostracized by the society, she will still not pay tax, still get away with a crime.

I think love capital will succeed in stealing the money, that'll probably be her true penalty. Also, I understand how she feels betrayed by his son, but she's not being criticized coz of his son & the theft family, but because she decided to keep the money & evade tax. If it was other thieves, she probably won't ever get the money back, coz she didn't report it sooner.

Anyways, the CEO & his bio son are useless characters in my opinion. They're frustrating outside all these plot around the money.

At rest, most of the characters were too annoying starting with the two very old grandparents who should have been better on European vacations. At first, I considered Kang-Joo's mother silly but toward the end of the drama she demonstrated she was a bad and stupid person. I feel sorry for her husband who has tolerated her for many years. A negative aspect was the continuous presence of the little girl among the adults, most of them being strangers, listening to their conversation. It should be adults with adults and children with children. Lee Mi-Yeon character was Baek Ji-Yeon copy. Lee Cha-Rim, most of the time, and Yoon Mi-Ok,, allwais

The police Yoon Mi-Ok and her daughter both love their jobs more then having a man in their family. Strange story telling about money and Loan stark daughter and power.

  What did I learn about this drama and story, Education is a key to spiritual health and wealth.

The son could not let the mother admit to finding and using the money on the mountain cause then they could charge his mom within the 15 year statue of limitation. And she could go to prison for that eventually. It basically stops the times up clock. So he was doing her a favor delaying the police finding out until after the statute of limitations up.

What is more important in Korea image or money?

They had a lot of other money besides this stash. Was it sentimental?

Only in Kdramaland can a women who didn’t finish college, worked in a dry cleaners and sold juice become a secretary at a conglomerate but quit after a few months only to tell a MBA who worked in the field for many years he isn’t charging enough for a shirt or coat. Even after going against his instructions earlier resulted in disaster.

Why could she not say to his mom they are working together? There are boxes everywhere.

Because this drama is not boring when it comes to family relationships and love stories. Actor Kim Jung-hyun delicately expressed a variety of emotions in the KBS2 Drama "Iron Family", leaving a deep impression on the heart of the audience. In particular, his acting skills, without any lines and using only his eyes and facial expressions to convey emotions, have been praised by many people.

Regarding sex in the story, please don't think too much about it. this is just a drama not reality

The money is a burden not a blessing, after the surgery.

I like the grandparents. I like the ML and I like the chairman. Everyone else, no.

Why must that kid study at a pre med academy? Why does such a thing exist?

They were studying together. He was leaving for a leave of absence for mandatory military. That is a 2-3 year commitment and then he would return to studies.

She also said she wanted to have sex with just any man but she thinks he is a good person because his novels was warm and portrayed him well. And the fl always helped her cross whenever he meets her on the road. That was why she chooses him to have sex with.

Probably the Ml also thought she was not bad and that was why he agreed. No one took advantage of anyone.

Da rim might be blind but she was not an imbecile and she was old enough to know what she want.

Even the police son, I know he's trying to protect the family but it will be very bad for him since he already knew and stalled. It was really stupid of them to do that w/o considering the son and what he said, like it's not common to sleep under a bed of money w/o guilt (or fear that the money is dirty & someone other the police will find it, w/c is dangerous)

But outside the stolen money, some other character are behaving poorly. I hate the CEO dad, I don't think he really cared for his step son. Also why is Cha Tae Woong shipping Bong Hee who's like her mom to his dad when he's clearly a bad partner, and still a bad dad, like what, I know they're trying to build a relationship but still, if he would assess his dad as a person, he wouldn't have ask him to date Bong Hee.

The girl child actress doesn't get screentime anymore, idk why. But the grandma is also unfair to think the son-in-law can't be in a relationship again. Is it only because she doesn't like her, or she wouldn't like any woman at all?

Geoff Dec 24 2024 11:29 pm @KB My wife and I are in total agreement with you! The lackadaisical attitude people have towards common decency and morals is concerning. We watched this drama unfold, the main male lead and the blind female lead did have sex, after meeting at a street corner crosswalk. The FL seemingly initiated it. But, as you suggested just because she asked, does it make it right that the ML seemingly without hesitation does have sex with her? From that episode on, this seemingly innocuous sexual encounter is treated lightly and without denigration from anyone. The male lead is feted with admiration and praise. My wife and I are in utter disbelief that a man would 'take advantage' of a desperate woman like this.

At this rate I hope the writers have something up their sleeve cause the show is now annoying

Jani Dec 23 2024 12:29 am Is picking up (well, I guess digging up) money (an insane amount) considered stealing? I guess if they didn't know who owns it, but the grandparents knew who buried it there, and then knew he died. Is this going to be their loophole?

And will the mom eventually evade taxes and not get punished due to statute of limitations?

I know stealing money is bad, but if only the mother & grandparents didn't get greedy and took only the amount for the eye surgery, they wouldn't live anxiously since they took it & probably wouldn't be involved w/ the investigation (or not, they'll probably trace the money they paid in the hospital but still)

Ana Dec 21 2024 10:42 pm I wonder how will the drama end because surely a lot of people did illegal things, different degrees but still, it's a crime + accessories to the crime.

And now the police son found out. When I was watching running man where they promoted, they were shocked by the plot especially it's a weekend family drama, so I don't think the thieves & tax evasion will be left unpunished, but how will they get there, plus get to the typical happy ending.

Of course I found the plot ridiculous so beside that, what annoys me more is the dad who's trying to be in good terms w/ his biological son, while casting out his other son (idk, was he formally adopted, probably not coz he didn't change his surname), bio son after being so proud, also just accepts the position. The company directors also accepting him (I thought he'll start from the ground since he doesn't have any previous related experience, or degree). And I'm not siding w/ anyone, but it's just so funny, the irony.

Also, if only the mom & grandparents knew why she's trying to sell the clothes left by previous customers, again, the irony of stealing someone else's money but taking pride of their clean work.

Lizi Dec 16 2024 11:31 pm I started watching because of the cast list. The first episode the story is interesting, but as the episodes progress I start to get tired of following the drama. The characters are very annoying, only Moorim's character is the best here. Especially Chae Rim's character is very bad and even worse Tae Wong still has feelings for Chae Rim. I've watched 24 episodes and I don't think I can continue anymore.

The Grandparents and the mother spending like crazy, darim being an spoiled brat and Charim who thinks the world revolve around her. And the mother of gang ju who is just like a whinny baby is cringe.

I usually don’t drop dramas, but this drama with them cringe and stubborn characters makes this drama almost unwatchable.

sf Dec 15 2024 11:39 am The only character who acted adequately in the situation was Nam Ki-Doong, who confronted his mother-in-law's stupidity regarding his relations with Lee Mi-Yeon. His gestures and words were on point. The rest of them acted foolish. Da Rim cried because a 90-year-old man, Seo Kang-Joo returned all the money, the big sister started to steal the money etc. I started to feel tired of all of them, especially of the grandparents.

I guess that gal Darim has her sight back and she's stuck in time. Mom got stolen money which was stolen and she she calling everyone else a thief. Hahaha. Such craziness.

The chairman and his son reuniting after everything gang ju did is so pathetic and not good at all. I don’t mind them reuniting but cutting gang ju off over what? Da rim is so stupid and gullible and it’s starting to annoy me. Cha rim is just so annoying from the beginning and tae woong will be a fool to accept her again. Overall I don’t think I can continue watching without fast forwarding it. I’m so upset everybody just Dey mumu.

Why is she being so ignorant of all people around her. Not a good to watch for so.much a inconsistency stories that does not add up to the drama.

sf Nov 27 2024 3:46 am Yang Hye-Ji and her characters make me agitated. I didn't like her in "Bad Memory Erasure," where she intervened unexpectedly in others' conversations. Here, she is crazy for money and shows a very individualist attitude. I do not like her at all.

Seun Nov 11 2024 1:57 am currently watching up to episode 10 and i eager to say that watching this drama brings back memories of old kind of family kdramas. i always loved watching kbs weekend family drama, with all the room studio, house studio, office studio and even street studio. and its been a while since i last watched this genre and i am glad that this drama came out.

but i dont like how quick the writer makes the mother and grandparents characters to quickly think the money are theirs. they have been showing an annoying attitude since they took all the money and acting bad to Seo Gang Ju for accidently burning down the laundry even thats the grandmother's fault at first.

additionally, the character Lee Da Rim also seems to be too childish despite her age is around Gang Ju.

but of all, the storyline has been quite ok and hopefully it wont drop down to be boring soon.

And I can't describe how I was so nervous about how the grandparents' decided to brought the money bag home, finally. And how Darim got operation for her eyes. Love how their chemistry's built up, actually I Miss Kim Jung Hyun in a good drama. Still remember his last drama with Im Soo Hyang, that was good but not good enough, kinda boring. But this one is excelent. Can't wait for the end of story.

Aside from them the mother is a stand out character. While we aren’t sure about Park Shin-A’s husband, we wonder his background in the drama. Why is he working at the dry cleaners? He apparently owns a building.

I am guessing the dad had vision loss as well as was too depressed or afraid to share and they kept pummeling money into him? Then he died. Suicide maybe? ‘Illness’ may have been a cover. Also don’t care much for the secondary actors and their stories. I hope this changes and we start seeing more of the main couple.

I was looking forward having them goin to the movies in episode 7, but it was ruined by inserting the third wheel. It was disappointed and a bit stupid.

Am I a lone in thinking that the guy that plays the Chairman is a bit weird? Just find him spooky!

it is truely a great piece of art

The twists, the comedy, the contrasts, ... is So Good, and dialogues and self talk, so we can see how the characters honestly try to go through their day and so it is love warmth fun as well as grief sadness danger .... and lots of comedy..... lots :) and the music matches action, in a comical way...

and it is visually appealing as costuming is superb

the main female lead is blind so yeah she is physically helpless and she is also poor but she is also very powerful as a person, very strong, and very graceful and warm, and the actress is extremely beautiful. The main male lead is handsome rich business person but also a good person and a confused clumzy young male who does try to be honest and good, and he is super comical character too

Overall - this kdrama is 10 stars as an amazing creative rich artwork
