Koji's wife Kaori dies. Koji learns from a doctor that his wife was 3 months pregnant when she died. Koji and Kaori did not have sex. Koji thinks about who the father could possibly be. He then meets Reiko. Koji and Reiko had an affair in the past. Koji learns from Reiko that she was once pregnant with his child, but his wife Kaori asked her to have an abortion. This led to Kaori doing something out of a sense of guilt.
