Plot
This story happened in the 1970s along the Yangtze River in China.
Xingzi was born in a well educated family. Working in the loading station of railway after graduation from high school, she got to know his college Lu Xi and fell in love with him. Before the college entrance examination, the two appointed to review together. But on the verge of taking exam, Lu Xi decided to give up because of his family. They had a quarrel for it. Lu Xi had one night stand with the beauty Shuixiang, a colleague in the station.
Xingzi passed the college entrance exam and Lu Xi got promotion in the railway station. He revealed his love to Xingzi but was refused because Xingzi could not forget his betray.
Xingzi admitted the young army officer as her lover but after enthusiasm she realized that Lu Xi, about whom she could not get rid of her memory, is her true love and body-betray was not equal to mental-betray. She regretted her refusing to Lu Xi, but all were irreversible.
Disappointed to love and marriage, Lu Xi was in great sadness and he experienced continuous misfortunes. On the time of leaving the world, he urged to meet Xing Zi for the last time. Xing Zi was in her honeymoon travel at that time, but mysteriously, she felt Lu Xi’s summon in heart and turned to his bedside.
