Plot
Luo and Ma are sent off to a mountain camp that promises to turn the potentially dangerous intellectuals into proper Communists. Their once-fanciful lives are now filled with long, hard days of carrying buckets of excrement up mountains, making even Sisyphus pity them. The cute and eponymous Chinese Seamstress sparks the interest of both Luo and Ma, who decide to share their secret stash of illegal books with her. Passion and escapism fantasies are born, mostly revolving around Honoré de Balzac's Old Goriot.
