Biography
f(x) is a 5 member girl group from South Korea. The band's name is a play on the mathematical notation for function and when input with different 'x', there can be many different outcomes. f(x) strives to be the kind of girl group that can change and adapt to many situations. and also f stands for flower and x comes from X chromosome, so it means a flower which reminds of women. The group consists of Victoria (group leader. sub vocal), Amber (rap, sub vocal), Luna (main vocal), Sulli (sub vocal) and Krystal (lead vocal).
The 5 members of f(x) come from a diverse background. Victoria is from China. Amber is from Los Angeles, California, and ethnically a Taiwanese-American. Luna is from Seoul, South Korea. Sulli is from Busan, South Korea. Sulli made her debut as an actor, prior to singing. She debuted as Sun-Hwa's child in the drama Song of the Prince. Lastly, Krystal is from San Francisco, California. She is ethnically a Korean-American. Krystal and Jessica from Girls' Generation are sisters.
On September 1, 2009, their first digital single "La Cha Ta" (stylized as "LA chA TA") was released and on November 4, 2009, single "Chu~♡" was released. Their first singles were not that popular. While they were busy performing their single "Chu~♡," Sulli, Amber and Krystal got sick from the 2009 flu pandemic. On May 3, 2010 their first EP album《Nu ABO》was released. For the first time, with song Nu ABO, they ranked at the top of the music charts. During this time Amber injured her ankle and the band performed as a 4 piece group. Amber went to the U.S., where family lives. Once healed from her injury she came back to South Korea and on April 20, 2011, the band released the album《Pinocchio》. The group's song Pinocchio (Danger) was successful and climbed to the top of the music charts. On June 14, 2011 the band released their repackage album "Hot Summer".
