Beta Nim Jul 26 2023 9:09 pm I can understand how Park Ha-Na is painted as a villainess in this series and Yes I have struggled to watch the entire series and boy this whole roller coaster is very interesting. This is one series where your blood pressure is being held hostage. Hahaha Overall everyone did a great job acting their roles. My only problem is that the truth about Yaya and Eunha's identities are revealed only at the end as if they don't have enough time to do it in the middle to- idk- spice things up(?)

Park Min Mar 06 2023 10:14 pm The drama is definitely unique. The director went all out with his own style. Not necessarily objectively good nor bad just different. I personally enjoyed what it tried to do. The quirky direction is the drama's biggest highlight. There were no eavesdrop where characters happen to stumble upon a secret, instead there are very long extended cut open dialogue scenes with no interruption which makes all the difference to see the characters actually talk. Some episodes may consist of only two scenes for this exact reason. The drama doesn't shy away from throwing experimental scenes that are completely unrelated to the story for fun. Although some scenes are just too bizarre like that one scene where an old lady reminiscing a young guy's body after the funeral. These scenes will probably make most of the characters seem insensitive. Then there's ep79 coming out of nowhere completely unexpected! The characters sometime step outside the boundaries of their character and do something unlike their character. This also resulted in inconsistency and showed the characters in a bad light. At least the drama doesn't attempt to "fix" the character, sometimes it's okay to remain broken. I ended up enjoying the drama for all the wrong reasons and that's cool. I liked Ha Na as the antihero, she did great and it might be her best work so far.

NellyJelly_ May 01 2020 11:00 pm The drama definitely boiled my blood at some points, but I think it was really good overall. I don't really understand the whole backlash it received when it first came out. The storylines seem like typical makjang storylines, just in a different way. You'd think that the drama would spiral out considering it went on for so long, but the central plot and love story was still there. Yaya and Hwaom's love is something else... and the last episode was surprisingly satisfying.

Version Nov 07 2018 11:29 am This is the first time I have written the comment. But the disgust for Ya ya is overwhelming and I have to blow off some steam. Each episode made me angrier and angrier with the female lead. I have never ever felt such a strong unbearable hatred towards the main character as I feel about Ya ya. Egoistic, selfish, spoiled and cruel. Poor sister-in-law. It is the 20th episode which made me gave up this drama. It's unbelievable: to take a baby, separate it from the mother, not to let a mother even see her own child, not to tell the mother where the baby is?! I am under impression that nothing can change my attitude to Ya ya and though it's a pity I wasted 20 hours of my time, I will save my mental health at least...

Hin Ne Se Oh May 16 2018 5:22 pm verry good drama with a rewatch value I liked how the writer tried to show that each caractere with their bad and good sides in this rama there's no one who's 100°/. nice except the lead guy **spoiler alert** I just hated this when they showed that ji ah was faking her tears abour her recently dead brother to aproach hwa eom that was verry cheap. I liked how baek ya learned how to love her sister-in-law a little late but with her nasty personality from the first episode i thought that she"s going to block her sister in law from finding happiness with another man but she at the verry contrary hooked her up with another. I liked also how they showed the relashionship between the casts like how sunji liked her bf yaya but still got jealous of her and made it hard for her or how sunji was modestand then started to show off I think the writer showed all kind of human feeling in this drama

zombie Dec 16 2017 2:20 am i just finished epi 140 where yaya reveals the whole pantomime i have 10 more epi to go but i think this is it excellent drama like i havent seen any like this and i think is due to the excellent writing there were some superb dialogues between samhee and yaya, samhee and jia, yaya and her mother, hwaom and samhee, dalran and his son and so many more that kept me shriveling all over just hearing the clashing of those superb egos the casting and acting was super excellent i didnt see not a bit of flaw in them the only thing that i didnt like was the 1st half it was too slow and didnt go anywhere and i almost dumped this drama but once yayas plan started then the 2nd half was just superb cuz of the superb dialogues still linger in my mind the dramatic crying of hwaon, jia, yaya and i really love sunji dancing, excellent drama highly recommended

Marie Oct 01 2017 2:18 am This drama was so unpredictable and so were the characters Heroine was not your usual goody two shoes that often being potrayed in family dramas. That's what made me hooked. It has everything from comedy, drama, tragedy, revenge, love, song and dance. Hahaha too much for one drama and a little too long. But to me its worth waching. This is one of my favourite.

DWT Jan 21 2016 4:40 pm I have to say I wasn't a big fan of Jang Hwa-Eom and Baek Ya together, maybe that's because from the beginning I had shipped her with Jo Na-Dan. Their interactions were cute even though she faked it a bit in the beginning near the end it was fabulous (Maybe next time they get cast together they'll be a couple for real). Overall I would say this wasn't bad kinda worth watching. I'd watch it again probably.

maryxiah Sep 02 2015 3:33 am In all honesty, this drama is crap. The younger actors and actresses were all stiff and awkward, the storyline gets overboard crazy and cheesy. The only reason I was watching is because for some crazy reason, I actually loved the pairing of Jiah and Samhee in the drama, they are actually the only couple that makes me feel all fluttery and excited. Would love to see these two again in the future.

Rose Jun 29 2015 11:58 pm I just saw the last episode. I like the way the drama ended. I think everyone was happy. I was surprised that the Dr. was on the merry go round and joking with CEO Soh. He was acting goofy and CEO Soh barely could make herself laugh. So I assume they did not get divorced.

I was happy that Hwa Eom and YaYa finally got married. They truly loved each other, but it took them a long time to get there.

Latina May 28 2015 7:14 pm I am a Latina who enjoys Korean dramas. They are totally different than latin dramas. I've been looking for this particular drama with English subtitles with no luck. After reading that MBC wont provide subtitles anymore, I wont be able to watch my favorite Korean dramas. Its a shame as they will limit their audience!

After watching 127 episodes with subs I can understand what is happening (although without the details of dialogue). An interesting thing has happened on MBC's broadcast of this drama. MBC is now rushing to complete this drama at 2 episodes per day (10 per week). But, I have found "Apjujeong" on the internet without subs and I was able to catch up on some very dramatic episodes that I had missed. Yesterday (Friday) I watched episodes 139 and 140 on my TWC channel. All episodes of this past week were exciting. I am only finishing up this particular drama before abandoning MBC since I cannot start a new drama without English subs. MBC America does have a Facebook page and there is an interesting string of comments (now numbering over 40) on this English Subs controversy. Please take a look. (By the way I tried to send this message days ago but I could not find the new log in location. I hope this works.)

@Georgie. I share your enthusiasm for the writer, Im Sung-Han. I am at episode 140 as of Friday and look forward to the final chapters. Where did you read that she may never write again? That would be a loss to Korean drama.

Last night I watched ep 134 and tonight it skipped ahead to ep 137 and the episode started earlier than usual. But, I did find Apjujeong on the internet without subs and I was able to catch up on the 3 (very dramatic) episodes that I missed. I am not sure what is happening with MBC. Either MBC is skipping ahead or they are showing multiple episodes at earlier times. Whatever. I am only finishing up this particular drama before leaving MBC. MBC America does have a facebook page and there is an interesting string of comments (now numbering 39) on this English Subs controversy.

Mattie May 10 2015 3:57 pm MBC has "eliminated subtitles due to our changed policy to go live...To broadcast live, we are no longer able to insert subtitles due to the time constraint in producing English subtitles...However, there are couple of other options in watching our channel with English subtitles..."

After all this is a democracy and people can have different views.

I for one think this screen writer is brilliant and will always watch her dramas.

Here i am more concerned about MBC and its decision to drop English subtitles for ALL of its drama products (not just this drama).

I just sent off an email to MBC America expressing my disappointment and anger.

I have already watched over 128 episodes of this particular drama and suddenly there are no more English subs! (for a full explanation as to why they are doing this go to their website MBC America. Unbelievable! They must think we are fools).

Luckily the other major Korean broadcast companies (KBS, SBS and MNET) still have English subtitles.

MBC says on their website that we can subscribe to Verizon and DirectTv if we want English subs. Ha! I for one will NEVER subscribe to these companies.

I feel that after watching 128 episodes of this particular drama that MBC is insulting me as a viewer and subscriber by dropping English subtitles without an explanation scroll across their screen.

Really, who gets engaged to someone they don't have a connection with just so they can get away from someone they feel themselves liking, but can't give to the feeling because that person reminds them of the mother that abandoned them....Samhee, I need you to see a really good therapist....because your mommie issues are overwhelming and stupid. Get over it!!!

Yaya is equally as stupid...how long is Hwaom suppose to chase after your ass...I mean, you are a really dummy. I wouldn't give a damn if his family couldn't except me....because you aren't marrying them, you are marrying him....if they don't like it, they don't have to...tell the whole lot of them, to mind they're own business. But I guess that's only an attitude Americans have. My mother in law didn't like me either, but so what I put her in her place quick, and got married without no problem. It's up to the man, to also make it clear to his family.

The only one I feel for in the entire story is Hwaom he deserves to be so loved...go out and find you someone better than Yaya....stop chasing after her dumb tail.

This is a mess....Yaya, on minute you swore to marry Na Dan to punish your biological mother for abandoning her and her brother, who ended up dead after making contact with this woman. Then she was like I'm going to live in the house of my deceased husbands family, because I'm still all about punishing this woman...only to ease up on her revenge plot because she's was told off by the mom.

Then you have a so-called friend, Sunji is betraying her all because she has married into a rich family and feels she is better than Yaya, and doesn't want to have to show respect to Yaya, should she marry Hwoam the oldest son of the family she's married into....so she goes behind Yaya's back and sets her up to leave Hwoam.....really SHITTY!!!

I think Hwoam's whole family is selfish, who the hell cares about background....what does it mean, when you marry someone you don't even love. Why they can't understand this baffles me. They don't want Yaya, because she doesn't have a family or isnt' from money!!! Stupid reason to want someone in your family....they have money and a good background on paper...but are real shitty on the inside....like your youngest daughter-in-law.

I also, don't like Sunji's mother....who hated her daughter in the beginning, until she married into a family with more money than them. Now the daughter is the favorite and she detest the son for marrying who he loved and not who she wanted him to marry. CAN WE MOVE INTO THE 21ST CENTURY WRITER!!! NO ONE CARES IF A WOMAN WAS MARRIED AND HAD A CHILD, BUT THE HUSBAND DIED OR DIVORCED HER...IT'S NOT HER FAULT.TO MARRY SOMEONE BUT NOT REGISTER THE MARRIAGE FOR 3 YEARS, WHAT KIND OF DESPERATE ASS WOMAN DOES THIS??? WIDOWED WOMEN IN SOUTH KOREA!!!

I want to see a drama from this country, where men are not put up on this platter like kings by their mothers and/or family!!! He's just a man! I want to see a drama from this country, without these incest undertones between mother and son!!! I want to see a drama, where it's not the rich against the poor or the middle poor against the super poor.

Oh and Samhee...where the hell did he come from....I think he's really gay! That he likes men, the reason, he confessed to Yaya, the way he did...let's be in a relationship that's not a relationship....what???? How tells a woman, I like you but don't want to put labels on what our feels or relationship should be....like let's have booty calls without me truly owning that you are my woman, until I need to roll you out on the red carpet!!! Wow, and Yaya accepted this shit over Hwaeom, who wants to marry her.

I'm growing tired of this train wreck of a drama...but just like Princess Aurora, I can't stop watching....

It's watchable, if not for her. She's always got a unpleasant face but ALL THE MEN want to be with her. She's average looking at best, she is not leading actress material.

Since Yaya revealed herself to her mother, they didn't know what to do next, so the mooney eyed love stories from the supporting characters have taken over with an occasional scene of mom and daughter pointlessly sniping at each other. Really disappointing.

Notice this will be 150 episodes now, necessary for the new build-up character... Adding some spice to the story...

The star maker has given us another incredible manuscript. I have chased after New Tales, Princess Aurora and now Apgujeong. I am so curious about this writer but speechless in her presence. All I can do is to wait patiently for the next episode. Congratulations to the producer, cast and staff for a stunning drama that lends luster to K-dramas everywhere. .

Jamse Feb 24 2015 11:06 pm The episode where Ya Ya finally reveals herself to her mother has to THE most intense that I've seen in any Korean drama. Just the two of them for the whole episode, it took a lot of courage to put that out there, congrats to the writer and show runners for giving us this. I happened a LOT sooner than I expected, it will be interesting to see where they go from here.

Dawn Feb 20 2015 9:34 am @Mattie, hiya again. It's nice to see you on this page....out last conversations were on the Princess Aurora page. Now that was a drama that had fans really heated up and passionate.

I am watching Iron Lady Cha as well....it too is a great drama. You are correct Mattie when you say Kim Bo-Yeon is playing a much different role in Lady Cha. Did you see her in Beautiful Man with Jang Geun Suk....she was his mother, oh my goodness she was pure evil in that drama. It was good in my opinion but I think he's an actor whose outgrown the adult-child like flower boy roles.

Anyways, back to this drama....I watched early this morning, and one of my favorite pairings got engaged. That was a totally unique way in which the writer had them joined...I mean no dating, on a feeling. I so so so love them. Such cutiepies, it's fantastic to see...and I can't wait for her Sunji to rub it in her mother Dal-Ran's face. Because she doesn't speak well of her or support her and thinks she is teaching her a lesson by being an uncaring or compassionate mother. Sunji's mom only looks at the son, who is gonna break her heart when she finds out he is in love with a woman who has a child already. You know how Korean mothers are....they want virgin daughter-in-laws who've never dated or looked a man other than their son's.

I loved how Moo-eom, made his dad eat crow. Seriously, just because he's dated around and explored his options doesn't make him a dog. It made your son smart, unlike the oldest one who was ready to jump into a marriage without having asked the woman anything about herself. It doesn't matter...seriously. I understand he's upset about Yaya, but dude get a grip....nobody in the right mind gets engaged or as to marry a blind date on one date...NOW WRITERS LET'S NOT HAVE THE WHOLE WORLD OF INTERNATIONAL KOREAN DRAMA WATCHERS THINK KOREAN MEN OR THIS STUPID!!!!

Anyways, fighting to Sunji and Mooeom couple. Somebody please look after Nadan because he's gonna need it when he finds out the truth about Yaya and the stepmother. Don't let him go to deep on the end writers, please.

As for Do Minsol, please let her see that she is a momma's girl and no man wants that, that she needs to learn how to navigate through life on her own. That she needs to get some friends besides her mother. Please writers, develop this girl into a woman, that has a mind. It's sad watching her, get her face done like her mothers, talk like her mother, texting her mother about everything....it's sad to see this helplessness on television....no it's an embarrassment to all women and girls (WRITER ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT SOMEONE YOU KNOW IN REAL LIFE???? TOO FUNNY).

Mattie Feb 06 2015 9:10 pm Wow, Genesis and Dawn. I agree with you both and I am enjoying this drama as well. If you get a chance please check out "Iron Lady Cha". Leading the cast as the Iron Lady is Kim Bo-Yeon (who played the top evil sister in Aurora) in a very different type of role. From Apujeong is a new stunning actress, Lee Ga-Ryeong, who has a bigger role in Iron Lady. Both Apujeong and Iron Lady are now two of my favorite daily dramas. My third favorite daily is "Only Love" (on SBS) that has as it's lead actor, Seo Ha-Jun, from Aurora! I am in daily Korean drama heaven.

Genesis Feb 05 2015 12:41 pm I love this drama. I wish it had more fans. This is also a drama from the famed writer of Princess Aurora, the drama/soap opera that was surrounded by so much fan hate. If people who loved Princess Aurora, are tuning in for Apgujeong Midnight Sun...they are loving it the same as me.

I love the entire case. A well cast drama....I'm particularly loving the revenge plot and how its between mother and daughter, unbeknownst to the mother. I mean the stepmother of Nadan is a piece of work...your past is catching up to you lady, thanks to the daughter you abandoned. I don't feel sorry for her in the slightest. I do however feel bad for Nadan because he's being used by Yaya to exact her revenge.

I wish there was a way for Yaya to get what she wanted without hurting Nadan. Please writer, don't hurt Nadan, because he is such a sweetie. I also love the crush between Yaya and Hwa Eom....so sweet and heartbreaking.

Korean people live confused lives, they relate themselves together when they aren't even related. Yaya and Hwa Eom can't date or be serious because she grew up in his house like a sister, though not formally adopted. That sucks....it looks like incest in Korean culture....but good plot there. I think Yaya and Hwa Eom will end up together in the end.

I love seeing Song Won Geun back again in a successful drama...and playing opposite Baek Ok Dam....both from Princess Aurora, and they were enemies in that drama but seem to be love interest in this one....funny but I like it. I loved both in Princess Aurora, and became a fan...and I'm loving them both in this drama. Really hope they hit it off to become a couple.

Good luck to this drama, the writers are brilliant and I'm looking forward to 100 episodes MBC.

It says on this page it aired in October 2014...I watch MBC religiously, and have never seen this drama/soap opera in the channel line up...that's the only complaint I have about MBC...whenever they start airing the drama on the television opposed to their VOD (video on demand channel) its always around episode 20 or 60...

Anyways, I'm here for Song Won-Geun...I'm so glad to see you in another drama...you were fantastic as Natassia in Princess Aurora. Hope to see you in many other dramas to come.

So we can expect a radical change in plot somewhere midway, the elimination of 2/3 of the very large cast. gay characters that will be "cured", a dog (Queenie, you're no Hunk), general craziness and lots of weird stuff happening. Can't wait!
