Plot

M&A specialist Robin Heiden (Daniel Henney) travels to South Korea to takeover the Komatu Company of Japan. In his first day in Korea, Robin is rear-ended by another car driver by Min-Joon (Uhm Jung-Hwa).

At work, employees are excited about the arrival of their new boss. Min-Joon learns that the guy she ran into with her car is her new boss. Furthermore, Min-Joon is assigned to work as Robin's assistant. Robin soon tries to teach Min-Joon lessons in love.

Xiang Feb 05 2018 4:27 pm I enjoyed the movie, but honestly, I have mixed feelings about it in general. The story is great, but the actors lack the chemistry for me. Their acting styles are too different from each other as one of them has been in the acting career for some time while one of them was just starting out their acting career and this is the first movie they starred in. There are some good points and bad points about it but I'll try to limit what I'll share so that I won't spoil anything and at the same time elaborate properly.

Daniel Henney was indeed very stiff in this movie. I couldn't tell if he was a bad actor or he was actually good and his stiffness was actually on purpose. After finding out this was his first movie, I let the issue go. Besides, even if his acting was stiff, the movie was still pretty good/decent overall. I found him charming all the same.

Uhm Jung-Hwa was quite the expressive actress or character. It's probably because of the character she was portraying but I'm not very sure, tbh. I haven't watched any of the other movies she's starred in yet. Her acting was a stark contrast to Daniel Henney's and because of this, the two of them looked too unnatural together. Like, because of their difference, it was obvious that they're acting and it's not real. Yes, it's a movie, so naturally, the whole thing is fictional. But the thing is, the usual objective of movies is to be convincing. To look and feel authentic so that the audience can immerse themselves into the movie get swept along. Well as I mentioned before, their starkly different acting skills prevented this and so it felt like chemistry was lacking and that the movie is cheesy (it is regardless of the actors' performance, really, but that's what is exprected from romcoms anyway).

But despite all that, there was still some bit of romance that could be felt from the actors, and sometimes, the scene is just well done/executed, you end up getting immersed into it anyway.

The movie is on the cheesy side -- LIKE SUPER CHEESY -- so prepare yourself for some secondhand embarrassment and frustration. There will be dumb moments, like the usual romcom. But yeah. I enjoyed the last quarter of the movie the most really. I guess the movie isn't THAT BAD or the worst, but it's definitely not the best.

tncdel Sep 09 2017 1:48 am It seems that the chemistry was lousy between Uhm Jung-Hwa and Daniel Henny. Perhaps it was partly due to Henny's stiff acting, but Uhm Jung-Hwa, in Get Karl, was a lot more in sync with Oh Ji-Ho. Then again, with all due respect to Henny, I must bear in mind too that this is a movie, not a TV series with a lot more time to develop the characters.

precy Nov 04 2015 3:47 pm @fddf you are insane for saying that......Daniel henny is the best actor in the movie although he hears korea but unable to speak do you really think its easy for a korean to speak english fluently? No! Mr Robin was awesome.......when i watched the movie i was suprised to see someone from korea speak fluently although i hate korea films before but because of this one i started watching them. Men! So ROMANTIC.

fddfd Dec 09 2013 11:45 am daniel henney is s terrible actor stealing real actors job because of his looks.. he was so bad in this movie, and didn't even bother to say a single sentence in korean, i don't know or care if he is fluent or not, the other actors made the affort to spaek in english when this is a korean movie.. uhm jong hwa- was the first time i've seen her, and heard about her a lot. she nailed it and was very believable. but all i see here is people talking about daniel, that pathetic doll. i feel sorry for his fans, really.. there are plenty good looking actors that actually ACT..

I saw his picture before and thought he doesn't look that good, but he does. Loved the movie it was also kind of funny but I seriously think we should raise the ratings from a 89, at least by just one :)
