In the 1980's and along Chungmuro in Seoul, a street that serves as the hub of the Korean film industry, Jeong Hee-Ran (Lee Ha-Nee) reigns as the top actress in the country. She has a fiery temper, which allows her to go off on anyone and speak out whenever she senses something is wrong. She is then cast for the lead role in movie "Madame Aema," that will be made by Ku Jung-Ho’s (Jin Sun-Kyu) production company. Ku Jung-Ho is the type of person who will do anything to survive in the film industry. He faces a situation where he can't control Jeong Hee-Ran and decides to kick her out of the movie. He then holds a big scale auction and selects Shin Ju-Ae (Bang Hyo-Rin) to play the lead role. Shin Ju-Ae wants to become an actress, but she currently works as a nightclub dancer. Jeong Hee-Ran is extremely peeved at the current situation. Meanwhile, Kwak In-U (Cho Hyun-Chul) is a rookie director who is full of dreams, but feeble in temperament. He will direct his first film with movie "Madame Aema."

Hi Feb 04 2026 9:51 am I've been watching this several times and still have the same thought : Hwang Mina character deserves justice. She wouldn't die if she met the right person who could guide her in protecting her dignity, like Jeong Heeran who protected Shin Juae's dignity

sweet Sep 08 2025 9:57 am this drama shows that woman is always the victim in this industry and always gets sexualised (i think in every where too). lee ha nee plays such a great character, and min hyo rin is a new actress (i guess) but she is great in this drama. the plot of the drama is sooo gooodd, bcz it shows how woman stand up/protect other woman. maybe this drama is showing feminism?but it doesn’t mean we don’t need help from others, in this drama shows there is someone like hee-ran’s manager that is always protecting we as a women. that’s just what i think, overall it’s a very great and interesting drama <3

As a man myself I despise those people who exploits women and sell them like they are a kind commodities. I feel bad for actresses on that era who must live under the mercy of trashy men portrayed in this series

Ugh Sep 04 2025 9:10 am Hwang Mina's character is so annoying but when she dead I literally cried. Unlike Juae, Mina never meets any person that could guide and protect her from the dark world of entertainment industry

Her death reminds of the actress who played as a bully in BoF. Despite did everything that she was asked even having sexual relations with her CEO she never git any chance to hit big instead she was asked to play as a bully for a mere screen time

The entertainment's elites are so trashy !
