The purchase, selling, or owning of a gun are banned in South Korea. There's almost zero crime cases involving guns in the country. Things change quickly. Illegal guns, from unknown sources, are brought into the country and gun incidents proliferate.

Lee Do (Kim Nam-Gil) is a righteous detective. In his past, he served in the military as a sniper. Now, Lee Do struggles to stop a series of gun incidents and chases after the source of the illegal firearms.

Moon-Baek (Kim Young-Kwang) is a key figure in the underground arms broker world. He acts like an easy going person, but he is a person who meticulously plans out his actions and then puts his plan into action. These two men, Lee Do and Moon-Baek, hold a gun for their own reasons.

Cheryl Nov 23 2025 8:59 am Am I missing something? Is this a poke at America? I am disappointed that this stellar cast agreed to make such a grotesque drama. If I wanted to watch school shootings, I would just watch American news. I hope this is not a sign of the type of police/crime thrillers that are on the horizon in Korean tv. I came to Korean crime thrillers because even though some are very dark, they focused more on the psychological twists and turns. I can't even finish this it is so disturbing. The storyline is so weak, it just feels like an excuse to massacre people with guns. Very disappointed in this series.

This story seems to be hanging, I hope there is a season 2

I am Oct 08 2025 2:39 am I like the kdrama but there are more scenes that are so dark. The action scenes are good and Kim Nam gil a good actor aa well and all the actors.

Kaito Oct 03 2025 9:58 am It was good until the American sub-plot was introduced. The first episode was the best I think because it got me hooked. It shows how an initially good and decent person could snap. This character Jeong-Tae has a misfortune of being surrounded by the most inconsiderate, rude, and horrible people—maybe not the worst of humanity but still the sort that makes the world a worse place to live in. I find his irritants relatable and I admit there was some satisfaction in seeing the hypocrite bully gamer get done and gone from the world.

Even though plots about school bullying is overdone, I can't get enough of them especially when bullies get their comeuppance. It's so interesting that when they're about to get what they deserve, they always say, "I'm sorry. I was wrong."—so they knew that tormenting someone is wrong but they do it anyway and I often prefer that they are goned from the world too. It's just sad here that most of those that got hurt are the not-so-innocent bystanders while the biggest bully survived almost unscathed and was even being pampered by his gross coddling horrible parents. I just know they would not take accountability of raising an evil monster and would torment the poor families of the bullied students.

We already know that KNG and KYK are great actors, also Almost all the rest of the cast. KNG plays a good but tormented good cop really well and I wish all cops are like him. KYK's character was initially intriguing. I initially theorized that he must be an eccentric civilian who was bored and just wanted some action, or a wannabe vigilante and I liked how goofy and helpful he was, but then the American subplot happened, when he became a try-hard psycho. The english dialogue is so cringe and since the dialogue is cringe, the acting became cringe too. Maybe they could be good actors with a better script but the dialogue is so unnatural and juvenile so I can't take their scenes seriously. KYK speaks English well but he doesn't sound like a native English speaker. His lines sound so off like they're memorized (I know actors are supposed to memorize the script but they should deliver their lines as if they're natural to their characters) and some of his accentuations are weird, when his character is supposed to have grown up in the US. It takes me off from the immersion. The english dialogues are so unnatural and almost cartoon-y as if they were written by an edgy middle schooler. maybe they had the script in korean and then just hired a simple translator instead of a good writer. In any case, I started to lose interest, but i still finished it because it's only 10 eps. If it were any longer, I'd have dropped it.

Cathy Aug 29 2025 10:18 pm I was excited to watch this, such a great group of my favorite actors. But it's ridiculous and unrealistic. I guess it is trying to make a statement about gun control, but this is too much. Lets go back to making shows that are just fun to watch. I watched the first episode and then part of the last. It's, again, too Americanized with people shooting in unrealistic manner. Kim young Kwon walking down the street with his gang shooting everything up. The only good is seeing the mind of the shooter in the begin̈ing. That was interesting.

The way this drama giving background musics (and perfect with the scenes too!) when only necessary and keep silent at most talking scene is perfect. Won-Hae, Woon-In, Han-Chul, what a perfect combination of ol' school guys when their acting and voices when talk make this drama more darker... 10/10

Jillibean Aug 23 2025 10:02 am Nam Gil Kim shines as the Good Cop up against a whole bunch of Bad Guys. I did get a little tired of all the f and s words. The fight scenes were largely done with touches of humor so that helped keep them tolerable. I hope Nam Gil Kim's next drama is more of a traditional romance. I miss him in those kind of sensual roles. ;)

Lily Aug 14 2025 8:54 pm This show is masterful!!! Episode 5 had me screaming at my TV so loud!!! What an episode, it’s brutal and heartbreaking all at once. Please watch this show, it starts off okay but episode 3 & onwards really pick up! There’s plot twist after plot twist, and it’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. The acting is raw and the cast is absolutely perfect, from the amazing Namgil to Youngkwang to the younger cast Yonge & Mingi. It’s action packed with one of the best fight cinematographies I’ve ever seen on a Korean drama. You won’t regret it!

PANDORA Aug 13 2025 6:33 pm This show is action-packed! It starts off slow but really picks up Episode 3 onwards. I missed Nam-Gil’s action roles, he did incredible as well as Young-kwang. The concept is great, guns in Korea as they have some of the strictest laws in place (I’m from Canada). Love this show 9/10.

The setting was very interesting and the first few episodes captivating, but the story became a mess as it developed with the American backstory, and the way the gun situation nationally escalated just didn't fit. Also, moon baek's character started off intriguing but ended up being a Disney cartoon villain sort of thing. The best part of the show has to be Kim nam gil, he had such a good screen presence

anna Aug 08 2025 1:13 am wait kdrama fan said it's absurd that only mentally triggered people would use guns to kill people? well if they aren't Mentally insane, how would they mass shoot people? only crazy people kill others usually pushed to the edge too. thank God south korea (most of asia) does not have guns like in america. in america every month you hear of shootings, it's insane...

mewsmews Aug 02 2025 2:53 pm Nothing that exciting, to be honest. Worth one watch only. But will fall fast in forgetable. Acting was good as always, and it tackles a reality in which South Korea is not ready nor has any kind of safegards rearding gun control. But then again, living in a South Korean society pressure, anything can become a "trigger" for disaster.

I would say yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinions but to all those upset about the portrayal of mentally unstable people using gun should first understand that the whole movie was directed on GUNS. Just like how the USA right now is having insane numbers of shootings each day Mentally unstable in this drama fits all categories of people including those being bullied, those facing traumas, those who have reach their breaking points and couldn't take it no more, those who feel like they ain't heard but we can't blame them all cause if everyone involved behaved like humans and acted right, the gun pandemic wouldn't have happened.

And before anyone criticizes again, understand that South Korea has a high number of bullies both at school and work place and this movie showed what happens when people gets tired of being the targets of bullies for no reason

I for one like the early introduction of the Villain. I saw it as a case of a Nigerian adage "Na you dey do me, na you dey blow me breeze", meaning he was the beginning and the cause of the whole issues but he kept on acting like he was helping to find solutions and prevents more shooting but in the real sense of it..... He was telling Lee Do *Hey, I'm the brain behind this whole ordeal, catch me if you can* I loved the movie and the villain proved he was also maniac too..

The person complaining of Koreans and love for blue eyes, remember his eyes was lost at a young age, how many eyes colours have we? If they chose to give Blue instead brown or gray then enjoy the movie without complaints.....

SA Jul 31 2025 12:26 pm ⚠️ Spoiler Alert ⚠️ -episode 5 What is episode 5? The plot twist and the villain introduction was annoying. The killing of the black man for no reason paired with the bad English was off putting. In no way did he actually pull off the "I'm tougher than you all" look. That scene was embarrassing. The American backstory is usually a failure and is unnecessary. Yes, America does have guns, but if you needed a backstory, it could have been done better. We need subtitles for the English because it is so bad and the English speaking actors are also not great in this. The flashback of the "villain" and the weird blue eye [what is the obsession in kdramas with blue eyes?] is just odd. I'm not sure I'll continue the drama since this episode and the "plot twist" was not good. I like a good plot twist and a bad guy but this was done poorly. Maybe it gets better, but episode 5 was disappointing.

Ironies found in the drama:

1. Moon Baek seeks revenge for the country that "betrayed" him—yet in the end, he gets betrayed by the very person who supposedly saved him.

2. The reporter must've thought he was bulletproof. He reports on everyone because of his greed for money, but forgets that he's also part of the gun war…

The ending might be showing that what truly matters is protecting the people who need us—like the kid. If each of us becomes a "Lee Do" to the kids around us, and even to ourselves, we might stop them from ever reaching the point of pulling the trigger.

It’s not that it’s our job or duty—but imagine if everyone had that mindset. Think about how much more peaceful the world could be.

The nurse is the perfect example of what citizens should be like. Just because you have a gun doesn’t mean you should use it to kill. In the end, she gave it back—and many others did too.

We all carry “guns” inside our heads, but that doesn’t mean we have to pull the trigger.

This ongoing war in our minds—the silent guns we hold—can only truly end when we help each other. One Lee Do isn’t enough. But if we all choose to protect the "kid" in others—and in ourselves—fewer guns would be fired.

SeoulCity Jul 30 2025 9:32 pm I found Hana so cool in Goodboy but she has limited screentime using guns. Trigger has a similar mission type but this time it's focused on guns. I've always wondered why they use guns sometimes and sometimes not in Goodboy and it's satisfying that the lead here is really good at it and is using his skills most of the time.

UriOh Jul 27 2025 10:29 pm What a waste of talent and potential! It was thrilling up until episode 3, and then it's as if they brought in new writers and the whole thing just fell flat! Some comments pointed out plot holes - that's ok, every tv & film will have them but what's terrible and inexcusable is the worst writing towards the end where scenes were just comical. For example, the scene where Gu Jeong Man is digging up Mr. Kim's body out in the open (where there's no trees, bushes or anything to obstruct), and they not realise there's another mini van that is surveilling them. This is so unrealistic and either this just a case of sloppy, lazy writing or just really bad writers.

Get decent actors! In the end only 7/10 though the lead actors were all good. All of the bullies and scum should have died ?

Brian V Jul 26 2025 1:09 pm I’m at the beginning of episode 4, the 2nd mass shooting has occurred and the fallout is now happening, and I’m bored. I should be riveted by this plot, and considering the good acting and directing, but this show plods along at such a snails pace. I find myself drifting in thought, and I end up pausing for hours, before I return and watch a little bit more.

There isn’t enough character development except that super cop is a super cop, who refuses to seek promotions, and who doesn’t even wear a gun because he doesn’t want to hurt people, even though he has already killed 99 people in his past.

It’s nice that the villain is helping so much?!? I know he’s the villain because it’s in the plot synopsis above.

I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep watching this show, or if I’ll watch funny pet videos on YouTube?

Im still trying to process the main character turning into some Tamil action hero (no hate KNG oppa, I still love you. Like wow, beating up nearly 15 guys with knives and walking away with barely a scratch? And the american plot? Painfully cringe. Did they just pull all the C-list actors they could find? I swear even Hallmark would’ve done a better casting job. They made this drama looks cheap

Now the villain where do I even begin. They somehow created the most dramatic over-the-top villain ever, and then killed him off for absolutely nothing. Just vibes and chaosss. Honestly one of the worst endings ive seen in a K-drama, and ive watched a lot.

The plot had promise, no doubt, but the way it was executed just pure haywire

That said, KNG and KYK were amazing as always. They really carried the whole thing, even though the director clearly had other plans.

Oppas deserve better drama.

Don Jul 26 2025 11:45 am Kim nam gil's character here reminds me of father Hae Ill's characterrrrr but minus the funny and temperamental parts. :D...knows how to fight, use guns, black leather jacket with black motorbike and a traumatic past in killing kids as a military. Hahaha. But so far love this current drama with its actions! Love kim nam gil's usual character vibe, the violent, sharp eyes, cool and kind hearted fighter!

Ming Jul 26 2025 4:19 am I went into Trigger with high expectations, and I'm thrilled to say it not only met them but exceeded them. The plot is strong, and while a few scenes felt a bit drawn out, I found them tolerable as they effectively built up the characters. For instance, the pacing allowed us to really see Jeong-nam's love for his team and the captain even in incredibly tough situations.

The performances by Kim Young-kwang and Kim Nam-gil were, as usual, fantastic. And for any K-drama lover, you know a series is likely to be a hit when Kim Won-hae is in the cast!

Moon Baek could've been a way better villain, or at least what we deem a villain. The whole plot is pretty predictable, and the whole English plot is cringe. Kdramas, please stop throwing in Americans who can't act. The rest of the cast's acting was pretty good, esp the high school students.

Jillibean Oct 26 2023 5:30 am Sounds interesting. Of course regular police are not banned from using guns. Even so, even scenes with cops rarely show them using guns to prevent crime. It's a bit strange. But I will check this out for Nam Gil Kim, a long time favorite of mine, going way back to 2006 and Lovers.
