Set in the early Showa era, Soma Iwai (Oji Suzuka) is a private detective and he runs his own detective agency. He is skillful with reasoning and bluffing, but he is downing in debt. He can't even pay his rent and he often eats free meals at a small restaurant everyday. One day, he happens to meet Kanoko Urabe (Honoka Matsumoto), who has a special ability to detect lies. Kanoko Urabe left her home village due to
the people not feeling comfortable with her having the special ability. She collapses on the street due to hunger and she is saved by Soma Iwai. He tells her that her special ability is wonderfully useful and she can make a lot of money with it. He then hires her as his assistant.
