Kim Sum (Kang Hae-Rim) is a developer for social connecting app "Somebody." Even though she has difficulty communicating with other people, she is friends with Im Mok-Won (Kim Yong-Ji) and Yeong Gi-Eun (Kim Soo-Yeon). Her friend Yeong Gi-Eun works as a detective.

A murder takes place and the app "Somebody" is involved in the murder case. Architectural designer Seong Yun-O (Kim Young-Kwang) appears in front of Kim Sum and her friends. Seong Yun-O is an attractive man, but he seems to be hiding something. Meanwhile, Yeong Gi-Eun investigates the murder case with help of Im Mok-Won.

april Jul 14 2024 10:57 am Overall i like this series. but i don't like the character development of Sum and Yun O. Sum's character looks more like an opinionated woman, infatuated with a psychopath, than having aspereger syndrome, that's why in some episodes i hate her quite a lot. And for Yun O's character, I think she lacks character development, from the beginning to the end it seems monotonous, it only changes a little when she has feelings for Sum. but that's quite confusing too. is she really a psychopath? but how can she have feelings or emotions? as far as I know it is impossible for a psychopath, because he has no emotions and empathy for anyone or anything.

The tension in just the first episode of this show had me completely enthralled. I love a good psychological horror drama and this show really delivered. It was gross and extremely uncomfortable, I loved it

Holy crap I have never watched such a horrible series in my life. My goodness. Nothing stands out. Nothing makes sense. Not every the loveline makes sense. There are lots of sex scenes but no romance no chemistry like wtf. I feel like im watching people walking around doing stupid stuffs for no reason. God. Im so frustrated that I have to come here and write a review so u guys dont waste time watching this stupid show.

CH Aug 30 2023 9:15 am I find most reviews unfair... in the sense that I do not think this drama can be watched with the same expectations and mindset as with a conventional drama. Just like a David Lynch movie all the episodes are strange, poetic, disturbing and absolutely insane. However, to me the actions of all the characters make sense because they are extremely lonely people, looking desperately for that special someone that can understand them. I did love the drama, and although I can understand it is not for everyone, at least we can agree that the acting and technically it is outstanding. Kudos to Netflix Korea for taking risks and giving a voice and resources to creators that are not doing conventional stuff.

2. could have ended on an upbeat note (which is more appealing), i.e. Sum's girl pals could have presented a more persuasive case earlier-on so that that coupled with Sum's own discoveries that Yun-o might be a murderer would have resulted in the 3 gal-pals taking Yun-o down (taken away by authorities in hand-cuffs) marking The End. Sum's blood-filled killing of Yun-o at the end detracts from her being a late-coming heroine.

3. bedroom scenes okay but if you want broad appeal, "sanitize" somewhat bedroom scenes so that movie can be labeled PG-16

Aj Jun 19 2023 12:15 pm The premise of this drama is really interesting but the actual drama felt like an unnecessarily long eery art film. The show genuinely creeped me out but not in the good way where it kind of excites you, it mostly just made me uncomfortable. Also, none of the characters were particularly likeable or interesting because most of the choices they made were stupid and almost entirely too dystopian. Theres no subtle comedy to alleviate the intensity either which makes it even less interesting. The only positive is that its only 8 episodes. 4.5/10.

Jan May 27 2023 8:50 am I think the story progresses way too slowly. I found myself forwarding at times. Also the show is way too dark, I mean that literally, I had to crank up the brightness on my screen and still it's hard to make out the scene - especially when watching during the day. Otherwise it is an interesting plot.

Sherry Mar 11 2023 2:27 pm I need to say one thing first - the actors in this show are all amazing. They're all very talented. However, this show just didn't do anything for me. I'm not a prude at all but there was so much sex in this drama - explicit sex - that I thought I had put on Game of Thrones by mistake. It was really unusual for a K-drama.

But despite the overload of sex and the fact that it's a show about someone using a dating app to murder people, it was So Slow and I found it boring at times. Episode 6 was really good, very exciting, and I barely blinked. I wish the whole show had been like that.

I also found it really interesting that despite Kim Sum being the main character, she wasn't particularly likeable. Again, the actress who played her was fantastic. But the character herself was not an interesting character after the first episode or two.

I really loved Gi-Eun and Mok-Won, they saved the show for me.

emily Mar 02 2023 6:26 am The first time I watched it, it felt like it was a po** drama, the storyline still didn't seem to stand out, it was closed with the sex scene, to be honest, when asked to explain the plot of the drama, it was confusing, as if it wasn't clear what the story was. but if you look at the quality of the actors and actresses, it's really good, from the way she talks, Kim Sum's acting is really really impressive. Kim Young Kwang, who was able to change his image overnight, which he used to play in rom-com dramas but suddenly turned into a psycho, is really cool

But I agree with everyone else that the police girl is so dumb lol. The whole time I'm like "you can't be this stupid." like she should be cautious since she's the police, especially since she's in a wheelchair, and she trusts some random guy on a dating app. Going to an abandoned building for a date? I see the point that everyone is making about the imperfections and the gaps in the storyline but it’s extremely well acted and I’m hooked. I’m on episode three and looking forward to more.

I want to comment on some of the reviews that are offended by the nudity/sex scenes. Love the K dramas I see on Viki etc, sometimes I want the real world. Grown adults, being shy about holding hands and cringey robotic kisses that take forever to happen is downright ridiculous.

I really appreciate Korean filmmakers, and I’m grateful that Netflix is providing a platform where they can showcase more realistic and compelling storylines. I am thrilled to see some of my favorite Korean actors in realistic roles where they can really show off their actings chops. Crying on cue doesn’t really cut it

no spoilers* I liked this thriller, but it could have been better shortened to 6 episodes. A lot of unnecessary slow burn scenes, wish it was more fast paced with the plot. I understand the character role of Gi-eun being in a wheelchair because they had to show Yun-o’s true heartless side. But, I don’t get why they made her be a cop since that didn’t help solve anything or catch him. The police had nothing on him so what was the point of her working as a cop? The ending was a surprise and satisfying. Tbh the other “villain” was Samantha who I kept going back and forth deciding whether or not she genuinely cared about Kim Sum even without the company.

Country bumpkin Jan 11 2023 3:50 pm Iam still in ep 2. Must say the casting team did splendid job. Awesome job actually. International people very likely did the casting. Why I said that? Because it is so out of the box, the chosen casts, the three actresses, they got one thing in common - they are not mainstream. each got their own peculiar presentation: the vibes, the visual - very thick hardcore individualism. So different, these three. No one tried to blend,be like everybody else, a stereotype of oriental's mind set, that is no one sticking out. Glad to see international endeavours did good impact.

There are a million kdramas with plot lines making grown men and women act like 14 year old virgins too shy to even hold hands because they’ve somehow never been in a relationship or even dated despite being 35 years old. If your sole complaint about this series is about sex/nudity (ahem, coffeeprince) you are welcome to watch one of them, no one is forcing you to watch this show. If your judgement is based on some creepy xenophobic view of Korea because you think everyone there lives in some version of Hometown Cha Cha Cha (which I love btw, but, c’mon, bffr), again, just watch one of the million dramas available that provide that sort of storyline.

Police cop?? Are you really that dumb??? ***spoiler*** Oh yes Meeting someone online, not even knowing their real name and then meeting them irl in the middle of nowhere and then he suddenly stands up from his wheel chair?? Literally screams “wheel your chair to your car and get off stupid” but no? She decides to f.ck with him. Netflix kdramas are forcing too much to be more westernized but if wanted to see somebody’s ass in every 15 minutes I’d just watch something in that category

It was slow enough as it heighten the suspense/serial killer vibe.The sex scenes varies, showing the need to various degree to connect. I also find it interesting his method to kill is by suffocation and smothering/squeezing someone to death. the mythical part, I took as a way we try to rationalize evil. I was left with more questions, like there wasn’t much explanation or details around the male lead history. Kudos to the ML as he definite did a good job portraying a psycho killer. And lastly, I have the same complaints with the character “wheelchair girl”.

It's been a long time a long long time since I've seen such impeccable movie making. I binged, " Somebody, "because I couldn't stop. The characters are amazing and well played. The cinematographer is... amazing. The way he shoots, " am I in the wheelchair too?" God-bless you all (cast and Crew) for this work of art. There was nothing sloppy or Commercial about it. It was tight all the way. Tell us, what's next. "Somebody" Is way more worth, 3 years of a year's subscription.

I especially hated the ending that the killer was romanticized. But then again… if you’re looking for steamy explicit sex scenes, this is it (you’re welcome).

Haidee Nov 23 2022 9:53 pm This is what I like about k dramas, they are exploring new plots, new topics and they are looking to move forward, sometimes its now what we like, they need to work more in the timing or better stories, but they are exploring different topics. They need to work more in the main character, they back up stories so we can understand more. The sex scene was different, specially coming from Korea, but I think this will give them an idea to work in better stories. If you like kdramas with happy endings, cute couples, don't watch it, if you like serie killers, crime and weird characters give them a try. For me it's a different drama, I been watching kdrama since 2005, so this is different serie, and it's 8 episodes.

Then the plot started going off in all directions, the interesting stories didn't move forward, and it got bogged down in ridiculous decision making. I felt like I fast forwarded thru so many too dark to see chase scenes in deserted warehouses and abandoned areas and silent staredowns. I really wanted to like this show, but ended up being disappointed.

Shii Nov 23 2022 1:59 am Honestly i didn’t get the whole story purpose & the objective here. I try to relate everything but i stuck. Too slow, not much information/dialogue, plot kinda messy. I really can’t read Kim Sum ? Same goes to Yun-o. Also there was just few characters tht alive while others, not helpful (at all). I watched all episodes (took me 3 days for only 8 episodes :))) & hoping in the last episode(s) they will tell/show to viewers wht this all about, but nothing happens. What i can say, this just another new type of psycho drama.

pixie Nov 21 2022 9:45 pm when i search the director, i get it.... his artwork like this... slow paced & artistic & deep movie/dramas. too many 18+ scenes, (Dont Watch With Family) I feel like kdrama nowdays westernized sjdnsjsjsdn so hard to accept this fact. The plot kinda slow. I know Kim sum not like normal person, but her strategic plan 100/100. Kinda expected the ending, but nah all good. Last episode kinda slow for me, i watched in 1.5x speed sdjsnd im sorry. Honestly i dont understand Kim Sum's mind. (spoiler) her motive to kill him but she doesnt want her friends meet this man. She know Gi Eun looking for him. but she dont want to tell her friends.... i dont get it, why... He killed so many ppl tho. Kim Sum kinda brave Yun-O & invites him to her house.. Plus, Samantha kinda doesnt do anything jdnsjdsd. i think she doesnt help at all (my opinion). She doesnt cooperate with police even though so many victims, so many cons for that apps :/

ahn Nov 21 2022 5:35 am i agree that this drama is quite different. a lot of killing, a lot of explicit scene. for me, it gives me uncomfortable feeling, but makes me wonder what happen on the next episode. not quite understand the story, for its fun ride. honestly i feel simpathy towards kim sum. for yun-o, it feels like he isn't human. but i got disappointed for his character development in latter episode. i'm quite agree about gi-eun, too stubborn. the ending tho, scary but its good decision for her.

wooshwiish Nov 21 2022 2:59 am i get that lots of people hate this because of the explicit scenes. i also do but its just really what happens today and the series was able to showcase them. lots of people are also complaining of too much sex/rape scenes but thats just really how most serial killers do their thing. it is a serial killer series so expect lots of explicit scenes. in real life there are also dumb police and people when it comes to crime cases like this so i understand the amount of explicit scenes this series showed. its just a reality so people might not be ready for this kind of series

Violence. Rape. I never expect a korean drama would be like this but, honestly the modern society - dating apps - one night stand, is hyping? I don't know.. I guess, hyping is not the right choice of word but, you know what I mean. And this drama is definitely capturing that kind of modern society of casual realtionship with strangers. But, this series is also capturing human seeking for connection in this modern dating era.

Sum knew she was a monster that is the reason she was able to kill him. The sex looked very real the killer has a killer body. I did like his acting very much I would like to see more shows with him.

Not because of the cast was bad... - although the actress who played Sum was very irritating to me and the wheel chair police girl is the stupidest female character whom I know so far... But the biggest negativity is that the whole story and all of the characters were incredibly stupid and messy. Not this was what I expected. I almost felt that it was only created to show violence and sex... And at the end of it we should have symtatize with the serial kilker? Really? I was even unable to feel sympathy towards those three women either... Then creators tried to make the killer guy likable through the romance... Terrible. To be honest I think that shouldn't been allowad that this kind of shows to be created. Not just violent, but stupid and there is a kind of message which is negative... I wonder why or how get green light such a bad and poor story anyway...?

Kam Nov 19 2022 10:48 am See… idk really know if it met the expectations of the hype it got . I was really really excited just because the storyline was really unique with approaching this idea of love and romance with the idea of murder and how this unfolds between the ML & FL using this AI program (both who were phenomenal by the way in there respective roles).

The story had great momentum but it definitely muddled by the middle episodes after 4 episode because of the other plotlines to deal with in relation to Sum’s friends connection to ML, in which I found some/most of the decisions stupid or odd that didn’t really mesh well with trying to also mix mystical/magical elements with the story. So it got pretty boring to me until the last episode in which the last act didn’t have that great of a payoff but nonetheless the decision the FL I guess “had” to make.

There is a lot graphic sex scenes but that doesn’t bother me.

I would probably give it like a 6.5/10. Definitely interesting and cool what they were trying to do here.

Idk but that detective in the wheelchair is so damn stupid, like how are you a detective. She made so many stupid decisions, thanks to Netflix I unlocked a new fear. Will never meet ppl. Idk but it's kind of scary, what if I marry a psychopath. yikes.

First the good would be that KYK’s acting was insane… like scary good, I really thought he was a psycho so I have to give him props for that. What I don’t get is how the hell did he not get caught killing that many people being so messy and obvious. And also, someone tell me how the hell wheelchair girl made it as a police because she clearly is not smart at all!! I was jus baffled how dumb and stupid she was. Anyways, what the series did for me was unlock a new fear, I’m gonna start wearing big ass goggles everywhere I go now

Emma Nov 18 2022 7:53 pm Just got done watching this series, I really enjoyed the serial killer aspect and the romance between, what I assume, is two psychopaths (FL was definitely on the psycho-spectrum although clearly not as much as the ML).

Unfortunately, I felt the series lost its way from episode 5 onwards with everything else that was happening in the story, some characters made really dumb decisions (I'm looking at you, wheelchair lady!), and as much as I liked the Shaman as a character, adding a slight magical/mystical "evil spirits" element to the story felt out of place. That aside, the cast are all incredibly talented and did an amazing job in their respective roles.

I wonder if they were going for an arthouse French style with the plot? The FL's story arc certainly gave off that vibe, mixed with occasional David Lynch vibes when the camera lingered on moments of oddity or mundanity for extended periods of time.
