Cha Hyun-Su (Song Kang) is a high school student. He is also a recluse and rarely leaves his room. He refuses to talk to his father, mother and younger sister. One day, his whole family, except for him, dies in a car accident. Cha Hyun-Su is left all alone. He moves into a small apartment. At this time, a mysterious phenomenon of humans turning into monster occur all around the world. The residents of Cha Hyun-Su's apartment building, including Pyeon Sang-Wook (Lee Jin-Uk), fight against these monsters and try to survive.

Bea Apr 03 2025 3:35 am Okay. The storyline seem interesting and refreshing, it gives the same vibe as the series Happiness. But i gotta say the monsters look pretty awful, its too funny and computerized to look at. But I'm gonna watch this because of Lee Jin Uk oppa, he's still as handsome and fine like before but he hasn't acted in romance yet these days. Bulgasal, Voice and Sweet Home all have different concept and I'm loving all of it.

xoxo Jul 24 2024 7:28 pm Season 1 is the only one that’s good. Seasons 2 & 3 are disappointing. Mother and daughter story is an original plot and not in the webtoon and I think it’s the one that made the series shaky in seasons 2 & 3. Hyunsu’s character was put on the sides on season 2. I was hoping everything will be in order on season 3, but it’s still not good. How I wish they just concluded everything in season 1. I only watched until the end to get closure from the series.

Just read the webtoon… But if you still do decide to watch, just watch season 1 and when you’re done imagine what ending you would’ve given this and Convince yourself that that was exactly how the story ended. I only know a few of them ;(. And guyssss I can’t wait for season 3? I knew Lee Eunhyeok wouldn’t die, I cannot wait to see him in season 3. Btw they knew Sweet Home would be a success, cause they even made a season 3, because now Lee Dohyun is serving in the military so there’s no way for them to shoot the drama, and also Song Kang is going to the military. I guess he will be enlisted when season 3 comes out.

Aime Jun 18 2023 2:04 am For anyone who is confuse as why this drama title is "Sweet Home", it is actually the webtoon title. It really make sense if u read the webtoon, but the drama changes the story line a bit from the webtoon (it's not a bad thing for me though, the drama give what the webtoon couldn't and vice versa). The main romantic interest of Sweet Home in the webtoon is actually Hyunsu and Jisu, but the drama changes it to Hyunsu and Eunyu, and because of this the title "Sweet Home" didn't really make sense to the drama. In both drama and the webtoon, there is a scene when Jisu make a song while they're resting and ask Hyunsu to choose the title of this song. Hyunsu choose to name it "Sweet Home". In the webtoon, when Hyunsu became a fully monster, his desire is to protect his "Sweet Home" (the green apartment) and the people of his home.

(Potential spoiler to those who haven't read the webtoon, because this maybe revealed in the next season of the drama)

In the webtoon, when Hyunsu lost his feelings after becoming a fully monster, he accidently hear the "Sweet Home" song and it make his feelings come back. This song is also the reason he could find the others and get together with them. This is the end of the story in the webtoon and why the title is "Sweet Home".

I am glad to see Lee jin wook is here because I did not know that he stars in this drama.The plot was a bit with loopholes but interesting. But I do not like the monsters. They were too artificial. Anyway I am waiting to ser season 2. I hope it will come as soon as possible! I hope season 2 will be great!!!

Based off of a Webtoon by the same name -it does an excellent job of keeping to the story and adding to it when it’s needed for tv purposes. Song Kang and Lee Do-Hyun are excellent and stay true to the characters they are portraying. Lee Jin-Uk and Kim Nah-Hee are excellent as well. I loved park Gyo-Young in this as well. She’s perfect for her part. I highly recommend this KDrama to anyone who loves dramas based off of Webtoons -and appreciates that there are two more parts being released as well. Kudos to the staff, crew and cast who pulled off this show! I loved it!!

I love weird stuff, but I love how “Sweet Home” is very symbolic. All of us can turn into monsters but not all monsters harm people. I’m just emotional that it ended so soon and I don’t know when will I see them again. They grew on me ㅜㅜ, so much!

I definitely love a series moreover actors that can move me in any emotional direction. They all did amazing! But I can’t emphasize enough how impressed I was with Song Kang’s acting. I’m so moved that I want to watch all his project. I even wrote this very first comment of mine ever. Hands down. Hoping for the same actors and director next season :)

Hello Jan 09 2022 12:19 pm SPOILER ALERT Hey @Lotus ! Seems like you haven’t understood the plot of the drama. I was really confused at the beginning too, but over time I came to understand. The reason why people became monster is not any kind of real virus/bacteria/fungus. People are cursed to become monsters. They gave it in the drama I think but I can’t remember exactly which episode because I watched it almost a year ago. Because it is a curse, it doesn’t transmit from one to another, and that’s why they could keep monster turned people (like the supermarket ajusshi) with normal people. Also, every person turns into different monster based off of their previous problems, traumas, or something they desperately wanted to do. For example, the protein monster was an athlete, so he needed protein for his daily training or deficient of protein. Woman who had lost her daughter become a large embryo, because she really wanted to protect the children. Disabled ajusshi could walk after he turned into a monster etc. And lastly, the mc grew wings because at the beginning he was about to jump from a building to commit suicide but now he had found a will to live again. It’s all metaphorical. As you can see, not every monster has bad intention, it’s just their desire take over their body. Everyone would become monster eventually if they couldn’t control their soul, because it doesn’t work like virus or sth like that. Hope you understood.

Lotus Dec 24 2021 5:54 pm I watched on netflix and its kinda stupid lmao the monsters/zumbi are so unbelivebly fake I was wtf??? all the time. And They even scream: "protein!" Lmao what kind of monsters scream "protein!" like that (ep. 1)? They are not human anymore and theorically They dont have funcional brains but They know what kind of nutrient their bodies need like that? And then even dragons showed up???

even tho its a sci-fi/fantasy drama I feel like it needs to make sense and make you believe in those scenarios while You're watching.

We keep asking ourselves: How they get infected? When did it start? How it started? What kind of virus/bacteria/fungus make people become monsters like that? Why dragons showed up? Why some people look like zumbis but others look like stupid big head/hands/tongue monsters??? And some people even make devil possessed voices?? Like IT WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE.

I watched for Go Minsi and the queen Lee Si-Young... but honestly I was almost angry bc this drama is really weird.

MF Sep 20 2021 8:38 pm Honest review. Not really good. Cheesy, bad writing, acting is mediocre, directing is meh and music choice is totally random. Imagine dragons just came out of nowhere when fighting a monster?! Totally killing the scene...

I'm really disappointed tbh. There is a lot of good review and I'm expecting some Kingdom type of show but nah. This is just plain bad. Sorry to all the fans but the show overall is pretty bad. I won't recommend it but if you have some time to kill, why not I guess.

Ofc that doesn't mean i didn't enjoy it, in fact I liked it, I felt a lot of emotions along the way not to mention that my fav actress lee si young is in here plus I totally fell in love with the girl with a bat ksjsksjskks they were partly the reason why I continued watching this. a must watch if you asked me <33

I was just expecting a reaaally good action for this one, but man, I'm also crying?? Thrill, horror, love, action, nerve-wrecking, gore, A LOT of emotions I felt while bingeing this series. The way how they build up the story by introducing the characters one by one whilst the sudden mysterious outbreak of emergency were great. The monsters 10/10. I like how they will focus on all characters and their deepest past stories, that just portrays how everyone is just living their own individual life/obstacles. But that kinda overshadowed songkang's main character. It's just that when it's reaching the end, the plot got a bit twisted and complicated? You'll be left hanging questioning a lot of things.

SPOILER**

In the mid, it gets a bit depressing when all(almost) the character's are starting to die one by one.. Especially the sword guy and eunhyuk's death.T-----------T I don't think I'll ever recover from that.. Please tell me eunhyuk will be in s2. (Yes, I'm those who simp hard for LDH) It'll be a crime if they don't ever release a S2 right????

offtopic Jul 09 2021 9:19 pm this series is very good.execurion,acting,story flow.so many sad scenes espc epi 8-10.they lost so many lives :( however I'm a bit frustrated with how Jung jae heon died while the other just watch helplessly..the guard ahjusshi monster is not that strong.they can just pull jae heon out of the elevator before the oil spill...one thing that quite strange is somehow the monsters are vanish towards the end.haha

Like when they fought the security guard , bringing Du Sik down to the first floor etc. My guess is that the producers wanna save cost or they just didn't have the tech to animate it properly and just did away with it.

I wanted to drop this series and watch something else but by episode 4, it started to get more interesting and enjoyable. I am glad I did not stop watching it, because it was worth it and I love this series and am looking forward to S2. It was emotional, I cried like a baby when the characters you became attached to died. At first I didn't like Lee Eun-Yu's character but as the episodes went by, each character's past was explained and you instantly felt sorry for them and you started to understand and like them. My favourite character was the main lead (Hyun Su), such an innocent guy who is trying to save and protect everyone and then his "change" damn I was not ready. At first you think he is just an antisocial hikikomori but then his past is explained. I also loved (Pyeon Sang-Wook) the gangsta :D He was so badass and I don't know why but I kind of had a crush on him. His past was so emotional. Yoon Ji-Su's character was very loveable, I loved when she's playing the guitar and cried when her friend died and then Jung Jae-Heon. Overall I gave Alice in Borderland 10/10, to Sweet Home I will give 8.5/10

- I did not like the monsters, they were a bit cringe to watch and in my opinion it would be better if they used zombies. But it is something new and I think people turning into different monsters instead of the same zombies is quite interesting. - the ending was confusing? Like why did they go into the tunnel or whatever is was, when they got out anyway? I thought they were hiding from the army? so I was like ? - The gangsta works for the army? I was like what? but I am glad he will be in S2 - Don't really understand the "curse" instead of a disease thing, but hopefully we will get our answers in S2.

Harold Feb 09 2021 8:15 am I decided to watch "sweet home" after I saw a recommended trailer from YouTube , it looked interesting and visually stunning and I'm actually looking for a series that could maintain the level as I was watching "Alice in Borderland" which i really liked from the first episode till the end in opposite im disappointed with this one despite how big the production is i didn't like how the story was told, bad script writing , characters are not likeable enough , we have a hikkikomori teenager wishes for his family to die, a gangster beating a pedophile, a teacher who likes to preach others, a woman beater the old guy likes to beat his wife all the time, a girl playing guitar, a girl who likes to do ballet with her four eyed brother and a lot of nonsense characters , this is a survival series that I don't have at least anyone I wish to survive , that's how bad it is purely overrated kdrama, im feeling like dropping it cause I'm about to watch episode 7 and still I don't like what I'm seeing it's a waste of my time, I don't know what to do I'm thinking of seeing it till the end to see if there's something to look forward for season 2 but so far there's nothing.

tiffany :) Feb 04 2021 9:49 pm loveee. this is such a great apocalypse show. the visuals are stunning. the plot is engaging and well written. i finished the entire show in 2 days because i was so hooked. great performances from song kang and lee do hyun. they have range. their characters are unrecognizable compared to their romcom k drama characters. if you like this show, i recommend train to buscan and peninsula

Might be better if pure zombies with hypeness like the one in Kingdom or like in train to busan zombies. The reason i love kdramas are because of its short episodes and they are ruining the experience totally with these seasonal style. I hate this!!! I really really hate this format! This drama is so great and just superb in every aspect. Truly amazing casts and acting. But seriously, stop with the friggin seasonal format!

Every character had a personality and backstory that was interwoven beautifully, the pacing was well done as was the tension, and I cried way too many times [something I don't normally do with a drama] I have watched the entire season twice now and will buy it if I can find it. A wonderful story that showcases that not all monsters are bad and not all humans are good.

Ngl there are a few parts where I do find it draggy and slow, but at the same time they dig deeper into the survivors relationships and that’s nice too! The webtoon and the dramas are supposed to be different so I don’t think it’s bad that they changed the plot. It’s still amazing :) recommended !!

She was my favorite from the webtoon and had such a big impact on Hyun's development, she helped him to change his suicidal thoughts and to resist the monsterization and also in order to saver her is why he finally turned into a monster, not to mention that the title of the webtoon is based on them! their conversation and the song she made for him and the promise to write the lyrics of it. I really don't get why they couldn't stick to that part of the story.

Because not all topic in the webtoon would look great if they made it into the screen version.. Read the webtoon if you want a quality story. This is a b-movie adaptation with decent production value. It's not the worst, but it's definitely a watered down generic version of the original.

But in this peace, he was great. I especially liked his "monster-self". (And he looked so good in a mullet!! I was kinda upset when he cut his hair off and how professional his hairstyle came out - was there a hairdresser in the squad??) I enjoyed how they showed other character's stories and didn't focus just on the main one. Also, how can Lee Si Young have such an innocent looking face, but be such a badass? She was amazing, too. The only thing I'm kinda nervous about is the second season. I'm having a feeling it's not gonna be as good as the first one. But let's hope I'm wrong!

It was basically a zombie action drama film. Train to Busan did it better. 3/10 If You’ve Seen The Webcomic: Bullshit. Why are you going to title it "Sweet Home" if your not even going to follow through with the plot and characters of the original story. The original work where the main character is seen having internal conflicts and battles with his desire and has superb character development is not seen enough in the Netflix adaption. These complex internal and external battles against his own monster and monsters outside and the changes the main character had made the title relevant Sweet Home. From the very start to the end we knew who the main character is, but in the adaption they chose to ignore the main character and his struggles and changes and that is what made Sweet Home so successful. I also hated how the "gangsters" character was portrayed. He was originally sweet charming yet bold, tough, funny guy. He was very much important to the story and to the main protagonist. In the adaption there are major changes to his story and his character which felt out of place even as a stand alone It felt like I was watching a drama in another drama. The original work had a horror suspense vibe, while the adaption had a zombie action "World war Z" type vibe that gets stale pretty quick.

Hyun, who was the main character, was barely shown in action in the drama. Also didn't like how they changed Wook's (the gangster) character, the monsters inside and outside were gone by half of the drama when that was the core element of the story??? The people who died in the webtoon are still alive in the drama too ajsk i don't know why they changed it but I wasn't really satisfied with the drama, too many plot holes and unnecessary scenes (like Jisu getting appendicitis? what was the point of that?)

Anyways, drama is a 4/10 for me, really didn't like how it became too government and military.

It’s better they could put at least 16 episodes to remove puzzle that was generated during session one. I like most kdrama compared to other drama because of the problem of sessions. But one thing that I hated the most about serie's story was that it seem they want to make this monsterizartion something that Government or Military is experimenting or their doing and I hated that the most. it is so cliche.

I give series 8/10. webtoon however is 10/10

I just didn't like what they did to Wook (Webtoon) or Sang Wook (Netflix) the character was given to the new character Yi Kyung or "the firefighter". I am hoping for the a second season since not much of it was shown or I don't how different the story will be. Overall, read it on webtoon or not you'll definitely enjoy the series. Waiting for more. Sadly, there are some plot hole (or maybe i'm just dumb or the plot hole is explained in the webtoon) that bothered me while i was watching this series. The casts acting, especially Song Kang and Lee Jin Wook is 10/10!!! And i think Song Kang's look is kinda similar with Yamazaki Kento (Japanese actor) lol i fell in love with him, so i'm gonna watch Love Alarm while waiting for Sweet Home 2 (which is predicted it will be aired on 2022 or something) XD

currently reading on chapter 78 on manga (from total of 140+ chapter). the manhwa was reeeeeeeeaaally good, so i getting more interested to watch the drama.

curretly on half episode three. So many wtf moment in the drama??!! there's too little explanation, many of important scene is cut of. Wow Wtf? this drama feels like your generic zombie survival story!!

the manhwa is soo fresh and unique, while this adaptation is sooo wtf??? dunno i will continue the drama or stick to manhwa tho, maybe i will just skimmed some of the drama scene.

manhwa is 10/10 drama is 7/10

However the only thing that I didn't liked that they changed was relationship between Hyun and Jisu ... in webtoon that relationship is what makes Hyun so much more interesting. but again, I also enjoyed a lot this adaptation and It would be interesting to see how the writers will continue the story, because it can't continue like webtoon and have the same conclusion

I really enjoyed this adaptation, wasn't a huge fan of the new character(s) they added and I feel like they did Wook dirty, the Webtoon deserves a read if none of you have read it, it's so good!

They even debuffed some of the monsters in the show in comparison to the webtoon. It’s really good but of course the show has different adaptions and it relatively skews away from the general plot in episodes : 9&10 for the sake of a season 2. Is it good? YES!

Carnbyyy Dec 22 2020 8:30 am Warning Spoilers Ahead ⚠️ I was hoping for more interaction with Yoon Jisu and Cha Hyun especially in the ending because in the webtoon what yun helped remember things was the recording from Jisu. Also, I was totally hoping for the fight scene of Lee Hyuk and Hyun with the boss but that got impossible in the series. I want to know too what happened to the infant monster if will it evolve in the series or not too. I was also sad that Byeong Il died in the series. They also did dirty on Pyeon Wook's character. As for Hyun I was hoping that there will be in depth scenes between him and his soul so that it would be more understandable on how monsterization works. But it is also okay since there are 140 episodes in the webtoon and this has only 10. If you are hoping to watch something similar to the webtoon might be disappointed.

But on the good side I like that Son Hyein was improved because her character is totally annoying in the webtoon. Also, I liked how Anh Seop peacefully died instead of almost randomly getting crushed because of saving Hyun. Maybe I was disappointed at first because I had a high expectations but still this series did justice even though there are couple of plot holes (maybe because they are planning for season 2) but in terms of the CGI it's great considering that this is a series and the monsters are almost as how I've visualized them. I still love this series in a different manner and I'm hoping for an in depth explanations in the season 2 about what happened and what will happen to Seo Yi Kyung.

He was so selfless throughout the drama and even when he was going through the monsterization process, he was still a human in the inside and so endearing to watch. I kept rooting for him and hoping that he would get his happy ending. Btw, I advice you to not eat anything while watching this show or you may just puke like I did myself (instant regrets). Also, there needs to be a season 2 after that cliffhanger in the ending!

Appreciate what could be done - this isn’t Hollywood. The CGI was better than I expected and more than enough for me to enjoy the show. I know that it’s based off of a web toon - which I haven’t read so I can’t speak to that- but as an individual who loves horror, and chaotic scenarios like this I can say at least for my self that the tv show stood on its own and was enjoyable to watch. I loved so many of the characters - and all of the actors did wonderfully in my opinion. I love horror and have been really itching for more after The Guest. Maybe it’s not for everyone- maybe it didn’t really meet the expectations that the written version did (what ever does really?) but for me it’s a 10/10 and I will wait diligently for season 2.

Imagine Dragons would play every time they are about to do something and it is just so out of place. If you have read the webtoon, don't have any expectations of it being the same. Is it worth the watch sure,. There are too many plot holes, lack of depth for character backstory's and explanations and it feels really rushed towards the later half of the series. Old mans a bro, Jesus samurai guy was cool as well. 6.7/10

Too many crying but no enough character development to have a sense of real attachment to the characters. The special effects were definitely awesome, but the writing could have been better.

jisuuu Dec 20 2020 12:07 am it was good but we were robbed with jisu and hyun su scenes. they could’ve appeared together much more and more in depth like the webtoon but they didn’t. kinda sad because their development as individuals and together was better in the webtoon. especially that last scene in the webtoon. just imagine it in the drama. nevertheless, it was still a good drama and enjoyable

sweeet home Dec 19 2020 11:16 pm binged in one day ;) it was pretty awesome. i enjoyed it but as a viewer who read the webtoon first, i definitely think i would’ve enjoyed it a bit more if i didn’t read the webtoon first. it had many aspects of the webtoon incorporated but they slightly well changed it in like the last quarter. not as scary as i thought which isn’t a bad thing. there were some plots holes but still a very good drama. i’m just wondering who chose certain songs in certain scenes because they were kinda out of place. i do recommend the drama though. will there be a season 2? the ending looked like it was hinting for season 2 but not sure. if it does happen, Woooo. enjoy everyone

Kira Dec 19 2020 11:47 am I have read the comic, I have read the webtoon .. and I have seen the drama ... it's really great, I love how they have done everything, although there are always differences with the original comics, but ultimately it is a great version, all the actors , the scenes, the atmosphere, the music ... everything, a 10!

It is entertaining from the beginning to the end, it leaves you wanting much more, I look forward to the second part!

The best of Netflix this year, i need more asian live action like this \o/

Nasi Dec 19 2020 11:17 am I don't read the webtoon so I didn't have any expectation on this series. Overall, I really like it sooooo much! There are plot holes (or maybe I'm just stupid) but it doesn't have a significant flaw though. Every actor and actress play their characters really well! Not to mention choosing Bewhy as an artist to fill the soundtrack is a good decision!! I didn't skip the credit even once because I like the soundtrack. I do like the ending too, so I hope there's gonna be a season two in the future.

In one episode they said they are out of drinking water and in the next scene they are seen boiling water for a appendicitis surgery. Another reason why I like the Webtoon more because it shows how Hyunsu was fighting against his inner monster better than how it’s portrayed on screen. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the rest of the series. I really like how the main characters are introduced and the cinematography. Give it a watch if you have time!

Song Kang's acting was really good!!! I'd definitely recommend it to everyone, tho there's a lot of gore in the drama so if you can handle that, you must watch it!! 10/10

Why "Cry" over the live action being different from the webtoon when you already have your version you like. I get if you didn't like it I felt the same way about Avatar the Last Airbender Live Action; But its not like the cartoon version no longer exist for me to watch again. Its disappointing when someone butchers the show/series whatever you love but Why would directors make the Exact Same Series as a live action when you already have your webtoon (who promised y'all it would be the same to a T) . I mean enjoy the show when it caters exactly to the webtoon and then enjoy it when the writers decide they want to stray away and make their own scenarios. Just keep reading the webtoon a million times over and make a live action in your head. ANYWAYS loved it, if you like gore (not to crazy), action, monsters, no romance, or your fav characters getting killed when you didn't expect do watch.

But overall I enjoyed it immensely and I am grateful for the effort the director and actors put into making it as good as it is. So many of my favorite actors and actress are here and watching them do their parts is a blissful experience. I am grateful that they make changes to the ending because I want season 2...and it’s interesting to watch with suspense since I have read the Webtoon and so the story will be too predictable otherwise. Anyway, hope we don’t have to wait a year or more for the next season.

The first few eps stayed faithful to the webtoon, but as it went on the storyline went off track and is very different from the original plot. The ending was weird, the characters didn’t have much character development (like in the webtoon), and it focused more on human vs human instead of them fighting against the monsters which was emphasized in the last few eps of the webtoon, unlike the series. I was really disappointed considering how amazing and intriguing the webtoon is and how well the first few eps of this adaptation started. I’d give it a 6, but without prejudice I’d say an 8.5

? mini spoiler alert ? sadly, Hyunsoo’s character development wasn’t showcased well as it did in the webtoon ?

A lot of the characters didn’t make sense and didn’t reflect what was on the webtoon; there were also new characters which kind of confused me. After ep 6 or 7 it became more of a human vs human rather than against the monsters and fighting against the monsters was what made the webtoon so intriguing. Sadly, this adaptation didn’t completely base it off the webtoon. Without prejudice though, I’d give this series a 8.5/10.

Yes it is slow sometimes but for me that’s what the series required for the story to play out the way it did. I haven’t seen the webtoon hence why my opinion may differ from others but this series is definitely a must watch. Pls let there be a season 2?

Frank Jan 21 2020 3:49 pm This is the modern version of the other Netflix Drama called “Kingdom”... it’s kind of a zombie situation but it’s a historical drama. This one is not historical. They are both based off webcomics. Let’s hope it’s not more than one season. I love korean dramas because 99% of the times its 1 season only. But seems like Netflix is starting to change that.
