Kim Gun-Woo (Woo Do-Hwan) is a promising boxer. His mother is deep in debt to loan shark Kim Myeong-Gil (Park Sung-Woong), who is powerful and notorious in the money lending business. To pay off his mother's debt, Kim Gun-Woo quits boxing and begins to work for President Choi (Heo Jun-Ho).

President Choi was once a legendary figure in the moneylending business, but he suddenly disappeared. One day, he reappeared and began to lend money without interest to people in trouble. He lets Kim Gun-Woo work for him. Kim Hyeon-Ju (Kim Sae-Ron) and Hong Woo-Jin (Lee Sang-Yi) also works for CEO Choi.

I feel that they should re-release the original ending with Kim Sae-Ron to honour her, don't make this good story to become a comedy.

SeoulCity Aug 07 2025 1:32 am Actually My cup of tea. People wrote reviews about episode 7-8 being written badly, but it's opposite in my experience. I was much more entertained in the last few episodes. What I felt in the previous comment is still my opinion but I'm no longer disappointed with how things turned out. I'm excited to watch Bloodhounds season 2. Also, I think they might have reshoot the entirety of the last episode because KSR is no longer there. She might have been in the original script.

SeoulCity Aug 06 2025 8:27 am Not my cup of tea. Started of with signs of hope that things would go well. Then they killed lots of characters. I thought this is a type of drama where the leads always win despite difficulties, yet, they all didn't think and plan enough except the villain. Episode 6 is so frustrating, why was their death necessary. It feels like it's just an impulsive decision to kill them in the script, it didn't even make it great. The drama has so much good potential. The drama is good in general but it's just not my cup of tea. Probably because I had expectation that it is a positive drama, but it turned out to be a horror. I didn't regret watching it though, I was just disappointed. I hope I can watch this in a parallel reality where KSR didn't d** and I can see how this drama was supposed to turn out. I love the cast, I love the plot, but they all deserve a little change in the story that could've made it less tragic.

Still blown away by the superb acting of the 2 boxers in the lead but actually all of the cast gave a strong performance. Very professional. Love the story, at times rather tough but great series. I cant wait to see S2 coming soon!

Meiyy Feb 23 2025 8:37 am I'm currently watching this series and I'm here coz I'm looking for an answer why Kim Saeron didn't appear in the faces in the beginning of each episode and I finally found the answer. My Poor Saeron, she didn't deserve this kind of treatment. I stalked all of her co actors in IG and no one post about her death. This makes me sad even more, but I hope they gone to her funeral instead. :(

Ra. Jan 28 2025 3:12 pm I was going to include Bloodhounds on my list of best dramas, but I decided not to. Episodes 1-6 were excellent, but episodes 7-8 were a complete flop! A disaster!

It’s such a shame that due to Kim Sae-ron’s scandal, the story in episodes 7-8 changed drastically, making it feel disconnected from the earlier episodes.

Great actors, intense, bloody plot, just wow :)

And thanks to the comments here I see that S2 is on the way :o I don't know if it will be as good as S1, because basically the main story is already told and S2 means that they probably won't do what they wanted to do at the end of S1 ...

LEESangYi_Fan Oct 21 2024 1:41 am I was wondering why KSR disappeared on the last few eps now i understand its because of her scandal I cant help but thinking the last 2 ep had to be re-written and woojin was supposed to be gone after the sudden ambush but had to reshoot everything and gave it a different ending to make up for the sudden exit of KSR

For what its worth and with the circumstances, they still did well and I still think action wise; we got enough.

I am really hoping we get a season 2

avery Apr 20 2024 1:03 pm decided to watch after putting on hold for so long. i really enjoyed it until ep6. i bawled so hard. i wasn't prepared and it broke me so much. i wish they didn't kill off so many casts. overall, i recommend but it goes bad after ep6.

Great acting and characters, all of them are extremely good looking also lol (especially Woo Do Hwan omg.) I'll be honest, I didn't really liked how people kept on dieing. I hated the part where the knife man that works for Mr. Choi was killed. But other than that, it's still an amazing and great drama. 10/10 recommend!

Spec Dec 23 2023 2:07 am Skip the last episode or 2? Right after everything went down, you can stop watching and act like they just went their own ways. It becomes a cop flick in the last bit. Unfortunate but it was interesting up until that point.

Zaj Oct 19 2023 7:18 am I'm not sure if I was the only one caught off guard thinking that this drama was going to be about the sport of boxing. The first 30 minutes of the first episode sold me into thinking this could be a fun boxing drama, where two buddies compete to become boxing Champs etc.

But things turn dark real fast, and I mean really dark, gorey and quite graphic by the end of the first episode. Action was decent, by Kdrama standards, Woo Do-Hwan who plays Deon-woo can sell solid punches, same with Lee Sang-yi, Woo-Jin. The plot of the story was predictable, but you will probably stick around just to see how people just keep dieing, almost as if it was too just easy for Park Sung-woo's, Myeong-gil to be the baddest of the bads. Hyeon-ju played by Kim Sae-ron was very bland. I'll be honest, I did not know it was Kim Sae-ron as I haven't seen her act in quite some time, since honestly 2016's Mirror of the Witch. Her character just did not fit into the plot nor have and chemistry with any of the actors, and not to spoil anything, but it was quite sad to hear that the actress's off screen dilemma led the drama to end the way it did, rushed and absent.

The drama is 8 episodes long and I binged it in one sitting. Aside from the predictable plot, the rushed writing, and the emotional roller coaster rides the action and fast pace of the drama will keep you watching. I would recommend you give it a chance!

King Pup 1722 Aug 05 2023 4:41 am At 8 episodes, the storyline kept up a good tight pace though it was obvious that it suffered a drop in storyline quality in the last two episodes. Whenever the pace and action drops a little, and we have seemingly unnecessary scenes coming in, you can’t get the feeling that the series could have ended with 7 episodes.

While Woo Do-Hwan and Lee Sang-Yi are deservedly the main leads, Park Sang-Woong once again shows why he’s among the few top Korean actors that can excel in both series and films, at both action and comedic roles.

There’s lots of action and fighting scenes, but the director clearly didn’t want it to be violently bloody, so there’s always the sense that while the scenes “looked” violent, that it wasn’t meant to be taken seriously.

Special shout-outs to Tae Won-Seock, Lee Hae-Young and Ryu Soo-Young in their supporting roles. Tae’s role was of a bull-headed henchman for Park, while Lee and Ryu were retired knifemen for President Choi, who had to return to help out after being away for years living normal lives, due to the stubbornness of President Choi’s adopted daughter or granddaughter Kim Hyeon-Ju who single-handedly ignited a war against Smile Capital despite President Choi’s warning against it.

In the story, her impetuousness led to a number of deaths. But hey, without it, there wouldn’t be an action-filled storyline, lol!

If you haven’t watched this, it wouldn’t be a waste of time to do so! Recommended.

All the characters just went weak ( even the villain) and unserious and super rushed. It's a shame, it could have definitely been one of the best this year.

Wondering what she had done as an adult, we discovered this one. And, again, she demostrated her talent and abilities. May she continue, because she is an awesome actress. The entire drama was excellent in every way. Delighted to see both veteran and new actors working with an excellent director. Well worth the watch and I will definitely rewatch soon.

The story from beginning to end is incredibly well written, everything was on point! i really pray for a season 2. I do miss Kim Sae-ron, we hope she will return despite of her DUI in private life, please let her be forgiven and bring her back in season 2 as nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes in life. She paid her dues already.

But later i found that bcause kim sae ron accident, the production team need to change the storyline. Make they cant shoot for one month. You can see in eps 7 that woo do hwan body change really much. We can see for the 1 month off shoot he cant build his body crazily. Otherwise, end with good even i know the mood isnt like the beginning because of the kim sae DUI accident.

Ley Jun 30 2023 12:46 pm Goodness gracious… I am gonna need therapy after episode 6. I knew it was coming I freaking knew it I called it since episode 1 but damn was it hard. I couldn’t even watch it, had to turned away and fast forward because I just couldn’t. I was bawling my eyes out screaming at the tv. To say this drama was stressful is an understatement, that last ep had me almost biting my nails, almost because I have none left anyways, and left me also with a headache.

Val Jun 25 2023 6:12 pm Overall, a very good action drama. Even if sometimes it was way too violent. But if you are willing to follow along, it is a good entertainment. The only negative thing (SPOILER, keep reading at your own risk): At the end… how could they trust money that is not theirs to the rich guy? And the granddaughter? Didn’t she had her word to say in how that money will be used? Briefly, the ending was way too naive, which contrasts in an incongruent way with the violence and the corruption they were trying y to pinpoint.

If only writers instill a little bit of smart or quickwitted, at least for the experienced characters ie President Choi & comrade. This is not how productions work specially big budget ones. Dramas and films are made for people to 'watch' to recover money and to gain fame, it's a suicide thinking by a producer that i will make a drama/film and if there are things that public doesn't want i will still release it that way because if you don't want then don't watch because he will not make money, he will go bankrupt so they have to take into account public reaction. After dui people could have completely avoided this drama due to her but producers had to give public assurances that we will take care of things whatever way they could because it would encourage many people to come and watch the show and that is why the drama didn't face any backlash and people did watch it.

Changing the production at that late stage just punishes the rest of the crew and show. If they the public don't like it then they can just not watch it. I wonder if they can put out a different version later with the original ending since all the filming was complete?

dramawatcher99 Jun 14 2023 12:54 am 8.5/10 until first half of ep6, if you can overlook some unreasonable scenes. It goes downhill after that. The plot for the rest of the episode is huge mess and rushed. It just become bulky dumb and dumber trying to take revenge. At least they could have dress them better ?.

Honestly, only the action scenes make it bearable. I guess KSR scandal make quite an impact for the whole production. Overall rate 7/10.

Overall I like it. Been supporting Woo Do-Hwan since his Master era and I like it moarrrr because it's happy ending yehet!

Chancellor Jun 12 2023 9:59 am 8.5/10 Great show, loved the two main stars friendship, I didn’t know Lee Sang Yi was that funny. He was a much more quiet and peaceful character in Hometown Cha Cha Cha. His acting here deserves an award.

I didn’t understand Mr Choi was so scared, and only had one gun!

I agree that it did get confusing and a little rushed from episode 6. It even felt like the camera effects and camera quality changed, after ep 6 the episodes started to look more like Fast & Furious movies. There are a lot of things I would change, but overall great show.

Loved the fighting scenes even though sometimes it wasn’t realistic, and sometimes it felt super realistic. Exciting everytime they fought scary In-Beom.

It's a bit disappointed when Kim Hyeon Ju suddenly disappeared... Kim Sae Ron is so good in this drama actually... Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi no need to say. They are perfect buddies... Overall 8/10...

Immy Jun 12 2023 6:40 am I mean its weird they said they will cut kim sae ron out as much as possible but she had a long role in 6 episodes so if you are giving her so much role then give her 2 more episodes or rather reshoot new scenes with a new actor and charge the actor who caused the damage, infact it's a clause in contracts too dunno why this show makers didn't go ahead with it. Actors need to learn to be responsible because such mistakes end up damaging entire shows and other cast members. It is so unfair on woo doo hwan who worked his arse off he got so heavily ripped for this role, how excited he would have been for his career depending on this drama and now people despite liking the show aren't feeling it much, it is popular but the way expectations were.

Also kim myeong gil's history with grandpa choi wasn't fleshed out too well,it seems after he injured him they never came face to face, also when choi had found out what kim myeong gil was going behind his back collecting money he should have beaten the crap out of him or killed him but he never told him off or stuff and instead just shut doen the compny and let the cash stay in office and let him stay knowing there is a snake near him.

What happened to Kim Hyeon-Ju, did she commit suicide?? I personally did not understand ... After the prologue for the best fighters Hwang Yang-Jung and Lee Du-Yeong to have such an end ??? It was unbelievable ... Two such good fighters can't be killed by a clumsy assassin of Kim Myeong-Gil ... Many gaps suddenly and an ending that left many question marks to the viewer ...

Erika Jun 11 2023 11:42 pm First, hats off to Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi for their literal bodies of work. The last time I saw Sangyi was in Yumi's Cells and this is not the same person. Dohwan from TKEM was in great shape then, but this is another level. Wow!

Hyeon ju leaving and never coming back was just awful. She definitely should have made an appearance in the final episode to fight or at the Very Least to collect her damn money. That gold should have been hers to decide what to do with not the Chaebol come on!!??!!

Best part of the last episode was Kim Min Jae's cameo which frankly, should have been larger cause it's Kim Min Jae ?.

Things moved slowly and quickly at the same time for this drama. I was glad to have something to binge in one day but I think we got short changed on a lot of the relationships. They did do a good cramming in a lot of bromance into the first episode to create a believable friendship but the show still could have benefited from a few more episodes.

Cheronicles Jun 11 2023 1:27 pm I was enjoying this show until ep. 6. By then it felt like things got disconnected and completely off-tangent. Like a Netflix producer from nowhere came in the middle of the show and interfered all of a sudden saying he wants more gore, we need to make this more Hollywood-like, needs a different ending but then the writer/s refused so they brought in a new set of writers to finish up.

Some of the good supporting characters who were built up with awesome skills and potential that audience invested their time in to like became useless in the blink of an eye.

I know some people lodge a protest when their shows don’t get the ending they want and I always felt it was kinda silly but now I know something like that may become necessary.

choi Jun 11 2023 11:33 am gosh what a hell of a ride this was!!! enjoyed every second of it, very thrilling and the fighting scenes were tense in the best way! sure there are some things that had me wondering why they didn’t do these instead but i guess those were necessary for the plot line of the story kekw

woo do hwan’s so cool and sexy! i love the deep relationship between him and woo jin. jus such a shame hyeon ju didn’t appear for the remaining episodes so it fell short, there’s no way you wouldn’t seek revenge for your grandpa

I believe you are not watching the show and only skipping to parts where you believe it's watchable. It's not about being financially big, it's about the connections he formed through lending out his money and it could be a possible help or blackmail situation so technically nobody can touch meyongil. Lastly, why dont you have a go when your opponent is playing dirty with shoe blades? Yeah he is a knife boss, I'm sure he can handle upper CQC but he already stabbed in the shin multiple times. Could you possibly concentrate with damaged legs and old age? Why don't you just enjoy the show and stop nitpicking instead because I believe most people here had fun watching this show.

Also why myeong gil was forcefully portrayed as super scary when he was not even financially big, he could harass poor people buthow even big shots were scared of him when they can easily get him killed.

Knife boss was shown as a one man army and super formidable but he hilariously fell before myeong gil in just 2, 3 minutes. So much for knife and fighting skills when he was easily taken down in 2 mnutes.

M00N0 Jun 09 2023 11:10 am I just finished watching this right now and I loved the friendship between the two main characters as well as the deep dynamics within the other support characters as well and although there was some very sad moments I also felt the action and story hit quite a punch of a knockout in my opinion!!!

She caused severe damage both to the roadside structure and local businesses. On May 23, the production team reported that Kim Sae Ron decided to step down from the rest of the project. Even though most of the filming process of all the other actors have already completed, At that time“Hunting Dogs” had completed most of its filming process and was in editing stage. Therefore, it was almost impossible to replace Kim Sae Ron and reshoot all the character scenes. That is why the production team is still contemplating what to do with Kim Sae Ron’s part in the drama.
