During his school days, Yeo Jeong-Woo (Park Hyung-Sik) always placed first in academics and he studied at the top medical school in the country. Yeo Jeong-Woo is now a popular plastic surgeon. His life goes smoothly, but, due to a mysterious medical accident, his life is pushed to the edge. At this time, he meets Nam Ha-Neul (Park Shin-Hye). She was a rival in his past and he meets her at the lowest point in his life.

Nam Ha-Neul works as an anesthesiologist. When she was growing up, people called her a genius due to her extreme intelligence. She studied hard and became a doctor. Her life consists of only work and studying. She doesn't have any time to experience fun. One day, Nam Ha-Neul realizes she isn’t happy with her life and she wants to make a change. At this time, she meets Yeo Jeong-Woo during one of the worst moments in her life. They comfort each other and a romantic relationship blossoms between them.

abi May 18 2026 3:36 pm this is one of those dramas that is surprisingly sooo good! i have been picky on watching kseries for sometime now, been watching since my whole life hahahaha kidding. but yeah. if you ever stop on the beginning of the series, please continue on it and you'll find yourself in a hilarious and heartwarming story. i have laughed so hard with hyungsik's antics. he has such an excellent comedic timing! i think he is excellent in comedies, of course in romance, too. also with bada's, *sangyeon hahaha. they are so good! and also have cried with the character's stories.. this drama is a hidden gem!

I like that they emphasized that doctors are human too and need time off to relax from a very stressful job. I think the two stars had plenty of chemistry. I thoroughly enjoyed their characters' relationship in the drama.

First, hahahhaha im soooo sorry but they dont have chemistry. Maybe because I can see them both with "the Heirs" in mind.

But I finished the whole series because of the story. The lack of chemistry compensated for it. I have also found myself laughing hard because of their antics.

It is highly recommended. One of the best dramas of 2024 I should say. :)

I think its a good attempt at infusing heavy topics like mental health with some light hearted romance. Wouldnt say that this drama is life changing but its definitely worth the watch and something u can consider if u are looking for a chill drama series and if u appreciate romcom better than i do XD

Avi Aug 11 2024 11:05 pm As someone who is working to enter medicine and has severe depression, this drama speaks to me on levels that I never knew one could. It's something that I would watch time and again whenever I need to remind myself that it's okay to take a break and hit rock bottom once in a while - our bodies can only take so much. I don't give a flying f*** about what anyone says about the acting, those who do can put a cork in it. The drama is more than just the acting or the pacing, it speaks volumes about depression and personal struggles of healthcare workers and I, for one, applaud it for how decently it was portrayed.

Kudos to all of them. The ML and FL, what to say. I love these actors in every way. Both gorgeous and superb A+ actors. In this drama their chemistry is just ?. PHS has such a sweet face, a sweet smile, the most beautiful eyes and super sexy. PSH, she never disappoints, a fabulous actress. Whatever she does, she is just perfection. Loved this drama ❤️??

Tbh i didn’t really expect high from their chemistry since i’m used to seeing them as friends in the heirs but i was wrong. Their chemisty is so good i swooned the entire time i was watching it! Park hyung sik was so hilarious as always, he always made me laugh in SWDBS. ? As for park shin hye, she did an amazing job. I think this drama along with doctors (2016) was her best chemistry with the male lead! Overall, 10/10 for this drama ??

Nik Jul 13 2024 1:24 pm I'm usually watching action/crime/fantasy dramas, not pure RomCom stuff, so I cannot compare this drama with other RomComs. I would describe it as a typical RomCom drama with a rainbow at the end.

It did not really bore me, the characters were great, the acting was really fine. There are funny moments and while watching I found myself trying to figure out why some things happened and what the characters were plotting before things were revealed in later episodes.

But I would also say that reality probably is rather different.

Although He carried the entire chemistry single-handedly but his adlibs feels like copied from his drama" Strong girl bong soon". "hapiness" &"soundtrack #1" are much much more better than this one.and park shin-hye is not improving at all.i watched her three drama and her acting is same in all of them.

First, the bottle of Heparin would have a lot number on it and would be DNA tested by the police before entered as evidence. Second, a person taking antidepressants would be told absolutely no drinking while taking medication. The two leads are supposed to be doctors and would know better.

Kevin May 14 2024 3:35 pm I have watched more than 100 shows. This is the only one I struggled to finish. The acting was the worst I have ever seen. How it got on Netflix is beyond me. The main couple need acting lessons and there drinking/ drunk scenes were ridiculous. The only saving grace where the 2nd couple at least they were believable. Very disappointing.

Love the family and friendship vibes but i think it's kind off dragging towards the end and i seriously lost interest when it reached eps 9.. whatever it is, i managed to watch it until the end. what i can say, it's a decent drama to watch..

Mac Apr 01 2024 2:50 am I absolutely love Dr Slump. The drama conveys many meaningful messages and is a true comedy at the same time. Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye also have the best chemistry. I looked forward to the show every weekend when it was airing. I cried and laughed with them.

I’m not sure why some people say it’s boring, perhaps the premise of the show is not for everyone. I’ve been suffering from burnout and the show just resonated with me. I never had a dull moment with the drama and actually rewatched many of the iconic scenes a few times - they were so funny!

Couldn’t help but fall in love with Hyungsik too. He was effortlessly funny and adorable in the show. Only he can act out Yeo Jeong Woo this well. Best acting and best healing drama for me.

I’m surprised this drama didn’t rate higher, maybe the storyline isn’t strong enough. Jang Hye Jin as her mother is fantastic. Great as a N Korean Mum in CLOY, she’s a special talent. I’ll be watching for Park Shin Hye.

Bernard Mar 30 2024 2:33 am Come to think of it, this is one of those shows that I would like to rewatch when I'm feeling down. The plot is light and I love how they tackle mental health and how struggles can be overcome given the right support from friends, family and a specialist. I also love the main characters' development in the story and how they are honest with each other. You don't see that in too many dramas. Despite their struggles, they remain to be the ideals. Park Shin Hye always delivers. I am not a big fan but I love how she dealt with all the emotions present -- she can do comedy and she can make you cry. Her eyes speak wonders. Park Hyung Sik is obviously the comedic relief in this drama. Although sometimes he can be too much, but still, only a bit annoying. He has improved in his emotions and I'm sure he can do better in the future. Their chemistry is unquestionable. They were believable as lovers. And those kisses ?? The rest of the cast were great. Nam Ha Neul's family provided great support to the main characters. I also like the professor and the high school friends. The wedding pictures in the end were cute too. Was that a preview for a possible season 2? Well, I wouldn't mind one. I loved the show. Many have been bored. But where I work, the struggles of the two main leads were quite relatable hence many of my colleagues and I loved Doctor Slump.

I got second hand embarassment lol. There's zero chemistry between the leads as well. The plot is meh.

JecQueen Mar 25 2024 4:00 am Honestly i don't see what people are talking about when they say Park Shin Hye is irrelevant and the drama is not good. i laughed and cried through all the episodes. the two Parks were excellent and more like friends on the drama. maybe because there is less romance but that is the writer's blame cause the two portrayed the script very well...the two with their comedic and playful sentiment Park Hyung-Sik and Park Shin-Hye, i wish for them to act again in a more romantic drama...not to forget Yoon Sang-Hyeon he played a natural brother type that cares for his sister but fights with her when they are alone.....i you haven't watch this drama go ahead and watch it and enjoy the come back of Park Shin Hye and playfulness and caring of Park Hyung-Sik and brother sister relationship of Yoon Sang-Hyeon.

fascinaeting life Mar 24 2024 11:03 am This drama made me laugh and cry at the same time. It’s light yet refreshing. I love how the characters inspire for us to find strength to endure our sadness and misfortunes. This drama showed that we are not our failures and mistakes, and we are not alone. There’s indeed a blessing at the rock bottom as there’s no other way but to go up. Thank you to all the actors, directors, PDs, and staffs for making this possible. Super looooove PHS and PSH. Their acting really came across ? Also, the 2nd leads - love ‘em too. ? Highly recommended drama, very cathartic and heartwarming.

PhD kdrama Mar 24 2024 9:18 am Honest review. Lousy script and story line. I really am looking forward since the teaser dropped. Im disappointed. All actors are perfectly cast and they did great job. However the plots are worse. You want to bring back Park Hyungsik cute childish side from strong women DBS, but it is tooo much. And Park Shin Hye usually had a role of a strong and tough girl, but you ruined it by too much childish scene. If you want an impact, just make the lovable scene only once or twice. I am more into the second lead love line rather than the first lead. Want to drop at ep 4 but manage to finished it just because second lead...

All characters played important role to the success of this drama.. We can move on with our life despite all hiccups when we have good support from surroundings.. Seeing how Jeong-woo found a family with not only Ha-neul but also with her mother, brother and uncle. He truly loved all of them. Seeing their little hiccups as a new couple and expressing their feelings and trusts was just therapeutic. Overall, I will re-watch this.

Guest21 Mar 19 2024 6:08 am A beautiful wholesome drama about mental health between two doctors who are at their lowest point due to problems in their life but found solace in eachother. It is a rom-com and has a steady pace to the story.

Because of the story pace it is not for everyone as some episodes do drag out a bit because both main characters are going through a healing journey but I definitely loved it because it shows that not everyone is strong and even the strongest people can break down when they've reached their limit. Definitely worth a watch =)

Loved all of them although it’s always great pleasure spending time with Park Shin Hye & Park Hyung Sik. The underbelly of healthcare with all its rivalry, care, feeding and development of physicians and quality of care make good stories. The humanity of family life is always a winner. The drama itself lacked spark and flow in parts but never the less a pleasant watch given all the high quality parts.

Two characters appreciated for their simplicity and authenticity. A series light years away from the usual complicated classics with typical Korean facets. It is called doctor Slump which means it is about people who had been in their lowest point in their life that happens to be doctors, rather than medical drama (like dr romantic or such). I’m really get about the side arc (Jeongwoo malpractice arc or Min Kyungmin arc) but all that side arc only shows that regardless of their misery, it really pain for the main characters and really need time to heal themselves. I appreciate that the writers can maintain the theme of health consistently because it is really ews

Or made it shorter but more relevant and exciting episodes instead of dragging it until the 16th. The excitement stopped at ep 10. Episodes beyond 10 are already dragging and very boring. I watched this just because of my oppa PHS but I didn’t like his acting here.

The theme of mental health is an important - almost taboo - social issue (good idea), but handled in a very irresponsible way: if you take medicines prescribed by a psychiatrist, you are forbidden to drink a sip. In the FL's case, she should be a serious drug addict consumig so much alcohol besides her pills as the side effect of the pill-alcohol interaction. it's very dangerous. I'm disappointed.

Lila Mar 17 2024 10:48 am Believe me, it's not just a typical romcom medical drama. Even tho the plots are cliche and easy to predict, it actually has a lot of aspects that makes it fun to watch imo. First, the family, they're so supportive toward the main lead. The mom is so lovely and understanding, even the annoying brother is so caring and adorable. Second is the friends, omigosh i'll give anything to have friends like Bin Daeyoung and Lee Hongran (they're so cute and i wish there are more scenes about them). Third, the conflicts, the mental issues, it's perfectly depicted that it's not easy to overcome traumas. Even the funny part, the comical comedy is nicely put, even tho sometimes it cringes me a lot but it's okay it's romcom after all. And last but not least, the character development of our main couple is amazing. They may experience ups and downs several times but they overcome it very well. Not only the willpower that helps them heal, but COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY GUYS, and that is what our couple do when something go south. I loooove them so much, and they are actually so mature despite being so childish when it comes to bickering with one another. Overall, this drama deserves higher ratings and appreciation than it is. It's soooo good and heartwarming. Kudos to all actors and production team!!

Nothing exciting, so I stop watching.. maybe at the end they get back together but that’s boring too. Nothing exciting about it. So sad. I wish it could’ve been more to this. Not continuing.

Rina Mar 14 2024 10:21 pm I liked the trailer but mostly watched the drama because of Park Hyunsik. The plot line is very cliche and predictable, it was easy to foresee who the antagonist is. Still I enjoyed the drama because of the characters, the bright and funny atmosphere they created and the bromance between Jeongwoo and Daeyeong. Though I didn’t like the typical dramatic scene of episode 13. Like come on, couldn’t the writer write something fresher? In the end, I can recommend the drama because of the characters, more than the plot line.

Bimini Mar 10 2024 2:35 pm This kdrama should have much higher ratings. The script is a masterfully subtle and nuanced handling of depression and PTSD sufferers. Looking back from the end of Episode 14 it is amazing to me just how many different perspectives the writer incorporated while intertwining numerous subplots with the main story line. I thought that I might find it uncomfortable, but the script covers the humourous, as well as the painful, and awkward moments. Initially I watched as a long time fan of Park Shin-Hye, but what I really came to appreciate as the episodes progressed, was the true depth and breadth of Park Hyung-Sik's acting talent. I have always appreciated his good looks, charm, and comedic timing, but his performance in this kdrama is truly outstanding, covering all emotions and almost overshadowing his co-star who turns in a strong performance of her own.

Becka Mar 09 2024 11:12 pm This director is simpleminded... The drama is boring and sloppy. The drama doesn't have enough comedy or tragedy to make the 2 leads work. Park Hyun Sik works best as comedic lead and Park Shin Hye works best as a tragic female lead. There just wasn't enough to make either of them shine in their roles. I found myself fast-forwarding through scenes with them talking because the scenes felt like time fillers - they're talking but weren't really saying much. Very boring.

The 2 leads were not a good cast for this type of drama. It doesn't matter how popular actors are, they can't carry a dead script with poor directing.

I wouldn't even recommend this drama as a binge-watch. It's one of those dramas you put on as background noise while you work. You're not really watching it but you need a little noise and distraction. What a waste.

I can understand where the two leads late coming of age coming from even they are present doctors. This romcom also focused on mental health at any time. People need to seek help professionally and also can get help from their loved ones. It's not to late to fall in love for the first time or last time. The casts are all amazing and funny. I love and get the story !!

They are healing together,the story of two people ,how they struggled to get what they wanted and the fall. Family support,friendship,misunderstanding,loyalty suspense,it’s all there, the ml is great! Love his funny side, but can turn and be serious as well. Hopefully a happy ending. Well done all. Love this drama!

The writing skill was pretty bad, the directing also the same. After the main leads realize they are falling in love, it turns out childish, including FL family. Come on, they are adult and their job is doctors, oh please. The comedy situation isn't supposed to be always child-like and cringy things. At first, at least 6 eps or around, I really enjoyed the comedy or funny situation, but now I lost interest. Also, maybe the writer didn't really know or dig or make a research of what is depression and ptsd really looked like. Why in this drama, it felts so light-hearted and shallow, since in reality, metal health problems are serious and quite severe. How come in eps 11 they make a joke about bipolar. You shouldn't have. Maybe the writer should watch Daily Dose of Sunshine, it was so well written and potrayed by the actors. Also, for romcom drama type, the recent Welcome to Samdalri is the best. It was incredibly funny but still mature and natural to watch.

B Feb 25 2024 10:02 pm I love this show. Regardless of what others say, the chemistry between Park Shin Hye and Park Hyung Sik is over the top. They are like real lovers from the getgo. Besides the heartwarming scenes, their comedic timing's so good. These OGs are execeptionally good with what they do. Ha Neul's family plus Yoon Park and Kong Seong Ha provide adequate support. There are so many takeaways from the series and I'm glad the focus on mental health (depression and PTSD) is dealt with utmost sensitivity.

For many, the source of their strength is derived from others. Might be from family or someone close to you. Be grateful if you do have your source of your strength. You could deny that, and be cocky and self assured that you dont need others. But infact you do need others. That is the concept of this drama. But of course if you are of younger age group you might say BS to all that. Wait till you got knock down off your perch later in life. lol. I love the story line of the drama. Reminds me of IU's drama, My Mister. Life could be that sucks yes...?

The characters happen to be doctors who are undergoing a slump phase in their lives, hence the title. I love how it focuses more on the burnout, ptsd, and experiences of people in their 30's. It may not be for everyone, but adults in ther 30's can actually relate, how we are pressured to be succesful by now, get married, know what we want in life. I am all for the drama and life lessons in this series, and the romance between the characters is the cherry on the top.

It is a good drama, if the drama aired in 2014- 2016 instead of 2024 it would have been a hit.

The previous episodes showed a lot of PHS's talent but Ep 8 really showcased PSH's acting skills. The anxiety of the future when you feel happy at present was really captured in this episode. For young adults, be careful of people like Min Kyung Min. There'd a lot of them in any workplace. Your co-workers should remain as your co-workers. They're not your family or friends, do not rely on them so much. People, especially your co-workers are temporary people.

The main characters are not only beautiful, but show different dimensions of depth,different personal struggles, and a heart-warming sense of ethic, thank G-d. Sometimes it's just good to swoon, contemplate, and be grateful. It's one of those shows.

If you want to criticize something, critics the Korean's billing norms, not AsianWiki that is just following the order determined by the drama's producing team

Pauline T Pearson Feb 14 2024 10:01 pm 1) For a top notch medical personnel, it's ludicrous she leaves the hospital half dead merely for a lunch date? 2) Walking all bent over in severe pain yet nobody seemed concern for her - everybody is walking past her without any care or concern; 3) Even when she falls on her knees in the middle of the road, Nobody even stopped to help her up or move her out of the way; 4) As always in k-dramas, no vehicle stops for Anybody in their way - they just drive on and hit you, tough luck!!

Tin Feb 14 2024 4:12 am The drama starts good in Episode 1. The only good part in this drama is the flashback in their rivalry in highschool but this is only like just seconds or 2 mins. Most of the drama has 3 to 4 different settings but this drama is most likely just the two of them almost just 1 setting in 1 hr and just a conversation which makes this boring. You will forgot that this is a medical drama since theres no part or scene in hospital only very little part in ep1 and 2 I think?. The only highlight is the case but seems it forgotten already. This is the most boring medical drama for me. I prefer a surgeon like dr. Romantic, dr. Stranger, good doctor, doctor prisoner more intense and complex medical procedure. This drama has no medical procedure scene except in epsode 1 with very little like 1 min. Exposure. I always skip but every scene is just a conversation boring.

Everything was rushed and jerky, even the hand washing before surgery wrong. Very unconvincing. I'm a medical officer and like in the drama, people (including family members) and other non-medical person have prejudice of us being superhumans. I'm really happy since my fav actress portrays that kind of mental issue.?

On top of that, Korea netizens are enjoying the leads' acting and chemistry. I'm on cloud nine.? Hope the plot stays on right track until the end ?

CrazyNotSoRichAsianDVM Feb 04 2024 10:57 pm I was hesitant about PSH and PHS chemistry at first especially since I can still see them as their characters in The Heirs -- but the 3rd and 4th episode is proving me wrong. These two are making it work and they're both acting their part so well!

I agree though that the drama's plot /story line seems to be a little too familiar and is not really unique -- but the way PSH and PHS is acting (so far) on this show makes up for it. But I hope the story line will improve as the drama goes!

Glad to see PSH do a romcom again, but I hope she tries a different genre again (I loved here the most in Doctors and Sisyphus).

Psh looks pretty but this time she is acting well too. But agree comedy now has becone childish and drama looks predictable. That senior guy always looked sus and he is a bad guy but apart from that story is going nowhere.

This dramas romance and comedy is very much from mid 2010s dramas, like park shjin hyes old shows.

Like it is so predictable the girl or boy never had this or that kind of fun at young age, like never had teokbokki, or went kaaroke or arcade or dated or went to hostel, or go to beach or stuff like that so now as adult male lead or female lead will make them do all those childhood things they missed this trole will then use up 2 to 3 episodes. Honestly spending 2 episodes on living missed out childhood is not good scriptwriting specially when it is about doctors and there are so many other kdramas who are doing healing comedy genre really well better than this.

Having said that still like the show but want to see more medical side now.

Aalso what is sad is that yoon park such a talented actor is wasted in that role. Seriously good actors like son ho.jun, yoon park are treated so badly.

PHS is great but PSH looks a bit mature for this role..The chemistry is so so, dropped on 2nd ep, didn’t even finished it. I’ll wait til its finish and will give it another try coz I love both the main leads here.

I’m glad I get to see Park Hyung Sik’s acting for the first time, as he was in the military for a while. I only know Hyung Sik as he is part of “Wooga squad” with Taehyung (BTS), Choi woo shik and Park Seo Joon. Great choice for a male lead that is a successful and handsome surgeon - he fits it well.

What I strongly dislike about this and that’s also in several other KDramas, is the disrespect and downgrading that job superiors exercise over their employees or others under them! You do that here in the States, and you’ve got a great huge lawsuit! I know my friend won in a case , much less than this! I absolutely love KDramas and it’s really all I like to watch! But these scenes turn me off completely to it! I just don’t get how they are allowed to do this in South Korea ti employees and a man hitting a woman? Really?!

Something is really fishy about the girl getting the plastic surgery that died. She was probably murdered. After all if she was an heiress with her died someone else gets that money. If she was on blood thinners she would have told her doctor, was it even her that made the appointment. I think it was a bait and switch.

I can really relate to some specially in medical field depression burn out workplace bullying even losing your career in a few minutes . Too wierd study obsessed girl and calm smart top student rivals to friends and lovers as mature adults is interesting . But honestly I get only annoyed with psychiatrist's scenes ,Im a doctor I was not the top student anywhere how can that smart anesthesiologist resident cant identify see has features of burnout & depression & that psychiatrist need to explain physical features of depression like its basic knowledge that every doctor should know . Its so unrealistic .Other than that really love to see this

What’s really amazing is the reality of PSH character. In this modern time, everyone is racing to reach their goal and didn’t realize how it affects mentally. When she was answering the test before her diagnosis, I remembered mine before. It shows they it’s ok to seek professional help and nothing to be ashamed of.

Those friends of PHS was not really his friends, true friends believe in you and never leave your side especially at your lowest point. They were just using PHS when he’s at his peak.

Dr. Slump has a good start, its like Dr. Romantic 2 vibes.

The leading actors are also very good in their field specially Park Hyung Sik, who is one of my favorite K actors. I hope this will be aired in Netflix so I could watch it the soonest.
