Set during the Edo period, Tomoko Isonomiya (Fuka Koshiba) is a daughter of a royal family in Kyoto. She is placed into an arranged marriage with the 10th shogun, Ieharu Tokugawa (Kazuya Kamenashi). When she arrives in the Ohoku, which is located within the Edo Castle Honmaru, she is now among 1,000 women. No men are allowed into the Ohoku except for the shogun. These 1,000 women are in a constant struggle to win the favor the shogun. Tomoko Isonomiya as Ieharu Tokugawa’s official wife faces the women.
