High school student Shi-Kyung (Kai) suddenly moves out to the countryside and transfers to a mysterious high school. Getting through unfamiliar experiences, he realizes the meaning of life and love.

Notes

"Andante" is the first KBS1 drama series to air on Sundays at 10 AM.
Jung Da-Bin was first cast to play lead female character Lee Shi-Young, but decided to drop out due to her schedule. In her place, Yoo Jae-Yi plays Lee Shi-Young.
First script reading took place January 13, 2017 at KBS Annex Broadcasting Station in Yeouido, South Korea.
Filming for the drama series finished March 12, 2017.

Ken snyder Jul 12 2024 8:03 pm Not worth watching. It is a good story but low budget film. The directing was not good and mediocre actors and actresses. I ended up skipping most episodes in the middle just to find out how it ends. Not enough plot for 16 episodes. Too many other better Kdramas to watch to spend time watching this one.

Andante was a life lesson ....I cried a lot while watching this series.Kai's acting really nice....I felt sorry for bom..This drama is full of love, friendship,family and life. I really rrecommend this to all kdrama lovers....saranghae!!!

Park Min Mar 20 2023 6:53 pm Kai made me realize the true meaning of life and love and that is not to watch his other projects. This drama was purely a promotional piece for his non-existent acting career. They didn't have anything to serve the viewers so they went the terminal illness route.

May Sep 19 2022 1:37 pm This is my honest opinion why I would rate this as 8/10. I seriously enjoyed watching this. I've never cried so hard watching kdramas before and I laughed a lot, too. Kai has a way of delivering his lines that's so spontaneous and he's incredibly funny. I must say he has a knack at acting. He portrayed his character well and so goes with the other actors. You will ask yourself 'Is this Exo Kai that dances so fiercely and sexy on stage?' lol at some point I forgot about it. I was so immersed in the story. It's heartwarming, moving and funny. This is obviously underrated considering it was shown on Sunday morning. The over-all production was decent.

I didn't expect it to etch so much in my heart and give me a burst of emotions all at once. It made me laugh, cry, know the value of life, and how you should live it. If you haven't watched it yet, stop considering and watch it already!

Overall it's anice drama but there weren't much intense in my opinion and me I prefer dramas that are more intense. I liked the beginning but afterward it got a bit boring ngl. Also if you di watch prepare tissues, you're probably gonna cry every other episode.

igorota Jan 08 2019 1:43 am I just don't understand...Kai is good but Kim Jin Kyung should be partnered with JOTA from madtown. A lot of us are anticipating their partnership and definitely their chemistry is perfect since they acted intimately in WGM season 4.

Looking forward Kim Jin Kyung and Jota in a drama.

Kanja Dec 06 2018 4:46 am I am so late in watching Andante, I meant to watch it during it's original airing last year but got so caught up in other dramas, I actually didn't get to it until November of 2018. I haven't finished all 16 episodes, but so far the drama has been pretty good, every episode has been a near tear jerker, I really like Kai's character Shi-kyung although he doesn't appear to have much character development like other characters in the drama, I do however like his bond with Kim Jin-kyung character Kim Bon their scenes were always touching and sweet, the chemistry is so good. Funny moment tho in earlier episode when Kai character Shikyung is on the bus and while sitting down viewing other girls whom on the bus, he made the comment "why do all Korean girls look the same from behind?" I literally almost died when Kai said that lmao. I am going to finish Andante because the drama has been really nice!!

Im telling you right now, its not, i dont watch kdramas anymore bc the plots r all the same and the characters are annoying but this one, so MUCH character development (except shikyung probably heh) im crying again just by thinking about it. Pls i recommend this drama, go now and watch it, i hope you wouldnt be disappointed. It easily became the 3rd kdrama im saving on my laptop (i only have 2 rn bc i always delete after since i have no plans of rewatching them or i dont finish them at all) But please go now and watch this !! Prepare lots of tissues I cried every episode

peterh Feb 14 2018 10:07 am i do not know who exo is neither do i care. perhaps that is the reason why i enjoyed the drama. instead of whining as a fan why my favorite oppa not fulfiling my fantasies. the drama is nice and full of warmth and not shallowly written for brainless idol fans seeking only eyecandy. love the final episode where it portrayed the saying the show must go on. that despite bom dying shin kyung must continue to live the rest of his life as many more sadness and hapiness are to come his way.

About LIFE, FAMILY, LOVE, etc. Compared to other K-dramas, this drama has a simplier plot, low budget, simple filming location (so other say it has boring scenes) but the story is true to life and very sentimental, it can happen to anyone. At first I only watch it because of Kai. He did well in this drama. What I dislike is they made his character stubborn, lazy student in the begginning to the middle part. And his sister's role is irritating too. And I dont like how they made Bom die just like that. But their acting is all really great. Most of actors here are rookies but despite that everyone did very well. ??? The director of this drama seems like a newbie too (??) for making some of characters and some parts not fitted/not suited/not connected well in the story. Anyway, I wish Kai will have more good dramas in the future and hoping he improve/learn more and for his success as an actor in the future. Kai fighting!!!!!

SfiChen Jan 01 2018 5:51 am I like this drama at lot. I am an EXO-L, and I support Kai. But I don't like any drama EXO are in blindly. Initially, the episodes were good and progressing well. Then, after I watched it every week, some of the episode keep becoming boring. But I still watch it despite it because I want to know the story and the ending. Currently, at the latest episode (ep 15), this drama have so much lesson that we could learn. I rarely cried so much watching drama, but this drama is so sad. Despite being sad, the comedy part still remained. So, for me it is a good drama. Kai, you are doing well. I like his acting and the lead actress also slayed.

How interact of brother and sister also the family, friendship and we can know viewpoint from the cancer patient. I'm kind of people who end watched drama, if I don't like the story or the cast's acting. Even though there's actor who I liked. It's really refreshing. Keep the good job for the cast, especially for KAI. FIGHTING!

LKB Dec 10 2017 8:25 pm @Tin, the first to pop into my head like this is Bubblegum, a tvN drama... Really good actors, sweet but sometimes painful storylines but not at all convoluted/full of confusing surprises and very sentimental and full of love through hardship, family ties and more... In that way, they are similar, though Bubblegum is a bit more grown up. The feel and music, lightings etc of it are particularly memorable-I still get the main soundtrack songs in my head, esp. Lasse Lindh ones.

Honestly if there's too much hate on the comment section it's a redflag hence I wont watch it. There's too much hate on this one but some comments made me want to give this one a chance. So I did and I never regret it one bit. It's light but has lessons to keep. It's beautiful on its own way. Lesson learned: not to rely on comments too much. Hey suggest me dramas like this ?

gytr Nov 23 2017 9:14 pm I like this drama a lot. It's very real, simple and heartwarming. Don't bother about trolls/ haters, since it's EXO Kai's drama some are going to be bitter. But good thing is it's getting positive reviews and comments from Knetz. As for ratings, please keep in mind that it's a non - prime time telecast on Sunday mornings that too on a channel which mostly telecasts news/debates and not regular dramas. So it's not gonna get ratings like regular prime time shows. Still it's getting ratings around 2, which is decent considering the time slot.

antipatz Nov 17 2017 5:24 pm People, can you honestly say this drama is only deserves 74% rating? I've seen several really bad drama but they still rated no lower than 85%. Can't help but think that this is hate rating.

Oh well, I will continue to advocate for this drama for it truly deserve attention. It's simplicity and uniqueness is a breath of fresh air in the drama world. I came here for Kai but after episode 1, I no longer wait for Kai's scene but genuinely enjoy watching the whole episode.

I applaud the drama for being relatable despite the dark undertone of a town obsessed with death and how to cope with loss.

This for me will go down as one of the best drama for 2017.

It has an original storyline and all of the actors are seriously so good looking haha. But that's besides the point, and I don't find the acting bad at all. I love the sibling relationship that shi kyung and shi young have, it's so relatable. I'm also loving shi- young and Ga-ram's friendship they make such a cute couple. I binged watched all the episodes that are out already in a day, it's so addicting. Looking forward for more episodes !!!

And apparently, unlike regular thugs, they try to murder people? I hope they aren't in many episodes, but it seems they will be. I'd rather watch Jongin awkwardly adjust to country living. Send the murderers back to Seoul.

For all of those who say that Kai exo got this role because he is famous please watch his other dramas before and then coment if you will (only somebody that is either blind or hates kai could say , after watching him play, that he is untalented). Kai is a hard working guy, talented in music, dancing and latlely acting. He clearly has a goft in the field. Yes, he is young and new on the acting part but he is still gifted, he is a natural. Kai oppa fighting!!!

I watched the trailer or teaser whatever and it somehow showed that lee shi kyung is interested in kim jinkyung, one of the girl in his school which he found weird and all. And it also showed that lee shi kyung has a sister and I bet its lee shi young since the name and all but i didnt know that lee shi young is the female lead! This is so confusing! Who plays lee shi kyung's love interest then? If he ever have one at that! Oh my

I know he have experience acting in web drama, but drama and web drama is different right?. actually I think this gonna be interesting if the lead role is truly actor like jisoo, yeo jin goo, nam jo hyuk etc. many of idol didn't show well. sometimes idol too greedy, sorry I just think many drama have idol as lead but their acting so .... bored.
