Lee Bom-Yi (Sooyoung) undergoes a heart transplant operation. She then tries to live her life positively for the person who donated their heart to her.

Kang Dong-Ha (Kam Woo-Sung) raises cattle. Since he lost wife in an accident, he has raised his two children by himself.

One day, Lee Bom-Yi happens to meet Kang Dong-Ha. His former wife donated her heart to Lee Bom-Yi.

Dreamerzz Jun 29 2022 3:53 am I tend to rewatch it again and again.. it's addicting.. it's a very beautiful love story.. well written ,directed and acted as well. Kam Woo Sung nailed it o become his fan after watching this.. Sooyang was Amazing as Bom yi.. the metaphors they use , the emotions they conveyed are so hearylt touching that I have keep this series for me to watch it again and again.. I have seen thousands of romances but this one has different place in my heart.. the chemistry was Tremendous for me.. not much skinship but it suits the brand of love they had... I am quite grateful that after leaving it I choose to give it a try after 7 years and it haven't disappointed me .

The beginning scene (ep1) was the continuation of the ending. What i'm saying is.. Bom Yi survived. That scene wasn't after her first heart transplant. That scene was what happened after the finale. Before the story was retold. That was really clever by the director and writers. I bet you guys didn't figure it out asap.

Sabila.718to415 Apr 15 2018 6:37 pm First of all, this drama deserves all the accolades that can be bestowed upon to a drama series. If you are undecided, I implore you to just watch at least a couple of epi and you will be captivated by the cinematic storytelling.

About the drama ?: It is mature and serious, but w/ just the right amount of lightheartedness and comedic relief. Normally, I steer away from dramas (1)where the ending seemed obvious and (2)I know I will need a lot of Kleenex/sniffling-can’t -breath -bec-I’m -crying-?-too-much. I didn’t do that with this drama; the synopsis and other reviews might give you a sense of foreboding but this drama is not about that. For the most part, I felt a sense of anticipation and giddiness butterflies-in-my-stomach whenever the main lead couple are in a scene together. To me, this drama is about life and making each moment worthwhile.

There’s an age difference issue that might turn ppl off but it’s a necessary conflict in this drama. The acting was outstanding- chemistry between Dong-ha and Bom-yi so palpable you forget their age diff and you find yourself just rooting for them to be together and live happily ever after! I'm trying to imagine other actors who can play Dong-ha in this drama (maybe a lil younger actor than Kam Woo-sung) but couldn’t think of any that can evoke the emotion KWS elicits . Sooyoung as Bom-yi was perfect for this role, her acting was natural and believable. Their subtle glances, longing gaze, the anguish they felt as they try to deny their feeling for each other were successfully conveyed to the audience. Perfect and impressive cast ensemble. Intelligently written and thoughtful dialogues. Also, beautiful OST to set the mood.

This drama has a lot of poignant moments but even in those moments, it evokes positivity, kindness, gratitude and hope. After watching this drama in its entirety without skipping, it reminded me of a quote from a book by Viktor Frankl: even in the most difficult circumstances, we have the last human freedom to choose ones attitude. We can be bitter, or we can face it bravely, dignified and be selfless. Thanks to the writer(s) for expounding the virtue of organ donation which creates a miracle to someone else and their family as a result of that brave and selfless act....

I didn’t think I’d say this about a drama I avoided for so long due to the premise, but this drama will go on my top 3 fave drama ever. I've now become a huge fan of KWS. I lost count on how many times I have re-watched this drama since watching it for the first time in Nov. 2017.

Soo Young was great. The story was melo without being overdone, slow and smooth but absolutely not draggy.

Definitely one to rewatch.

On the subject of "cellular memory", I know nothing about. But as avid weekend shooter, I'm familiar with "muscle memory". In order to shoot and hit a target consistently, one must practice, and practice and practice, again and again. With ammo or no ammo. Just going through the motions, controlling your breathing, acquiring your target even before the firearm is up on target, staying on target, etc... till its second nature. And isn't muscle made up up of cells???

MY REVIEW OF THE SPRING DAY OFMY LIFE As much as I disliked the ending, I realized that this drama may be one of the most realistic depictions of life out of many Korean dramas. Life is messy, passionate, full of love and, sometimes, tragedy. I think the last few sequences explains the point of the drama nicely, which also ties directly back to the title of the drama. The first time Bomyi was sick, she felt like she hadn't lived and that if she died she would feel like she had been taken too early. With the heart transplant, Bomyi was given the chance to find love and change many people's lives for the better. This period of her life is the metaphorical 'spring day'. Now, when the disease takes her like it was going to before she got the heart transplant, she can pass feeling like she hasn't been cheated out of living her life to the full. The beauty of the ending is that if Bomyi does pass away at the end (which the writer has made intentionally ambiguous), then her organs can be used to give someone else 'the spring day' of their life. As sad as the ending was, it was beautifully developed and written to have meaning for any viewer. Also, we have to remember that this is a melodrama so the drama and emotion will be heightened and the storyline is designed to create maximum emotion in a viewer. The cast was fabulous and Sooyoung was magnificent. Thoroughly enjoyed this drama and the story. I especially loved the last shot when Bomyi look across the surgical table and sees Dongha's wife next to her. I starting wailing when they held hands. It was so sad! I personally think that was symbolic of her passing into the next life, but it is still ambiguous. I would have liked to see her survive and live happily with Dongha, but if she received another heart and not Dongha's wife's heart, would she have still loved him so dearly? Was their love partly the love of Dongha and his wife. I guess these are questions that must be answered on our own. That what is so beautiful about this drama: its so multifaceted that it means something different to everyone. In the end, Bomyi's 'spring day' wasn't just hers, but Dongha's, Pooreum's and even Dongha's late wife. Stunning drama :) loved it!

Though i hated it how the ending went that kinda way but this was unarguably one of the most beautiful kdramas ever produced.. But i felt sorry for Dong Wook though:(

David Apr 11 2015 8:03 pm I cried like a girl in the last episodes, and the end of the episode 16 left me depressed, why they like to make me suffer?. I was expecting something good at the last minute. It is good that still can enjoy more than sooyoung in real life.

No, come to think of it, I don't like when things don't turn out the way I want them to. Lol I will stop watching My Spring Days now. At the 13th episode already. Sigh... why can't the script writer give it a happy ending? It was a beautiful drama to begin with. :/

alan Dec 13 2014 8:04 am after watching almost 100 korean dramas, i found My Spring Days is the most beautiful love story that i've ever encountered....Sooyoung gave such as astounding performance that you felt that she is really a heart ailing patient...

moreover, behind the message of this beautiful drama, the script writer is expounding the virtue of organ donation which would create miracle to someone else as their lives would greatly benefit from our brave decision...

Boo Nov 08 2014 9:07 am This drama is a tearjerker. It's good in overall, but there are parts where it was a tad bit too draggy and boring. However, I did enjoy watching it. What I loved about this drama is not only about Romantic love per se, but a Mother's love, Family's love...the part that got me touched first was [SPOILER] when Pooreum was telling her dad how she takes care of Ba Da by following what her late mother did to her, that was really beautiful imo. [END OF SPOILER] And quite to my surprise, I found myself already rooting for the two leads to be together at ep 4! Which tells a lot since Bom Yi's boyfriend is hottie Dr. Kang /rofl/. I guess the chemistry between Kam Woo Sung and Sooyoung worked well, because I did not find them an awkward pair to watch.

Episode 16 made me cry so much my eyes are now swollen. Trust me, that's something since I don't usually cry for movies/dramas (case in point: TFIOS. Did not even get me anywhere close to tearing up. Still, it's a good book.) And funny that the scenes that got me to start my waterworks aren't the scenes between the two lovers, but the scenes between Bom Yi and her family, and Dong Ha's family. There's so much more to this drama than just romance, so thumbs up to the writers/producers/directors for this wonderful drama.

Actors/Actresses, OSTs and script were all good. I'd give it a 7.5/10. Better than lots of other K-dramas nowadays tbh lol

I forgot one thing to mention, I think the series was meant to end this way. just look at the name itself "The Spring Day of My Life" I think it is past tense. The main girl is telling her story of the happy times of her life until she leaves for the next world. Bad thing is you cannot determine this until you finish the damn thing. I don't think there will be a second season for this. its a dead end.. The only thing great about this show is the casting.

JayTwo Nov 02 2014 4:09 am We really enjoyed this series, especially the performances by Hyun Seung-Min, Gil Jung-Woo, Kam Woo-Sung and SooYoung. Maybe (just maybe) the series did not appeal as much to less emotional or less romantic people. The "starry" night-time scenes at the Island, together with Dong-Ha's recital of the story of "Stephanette and the Shepherd" ( from the short story "The Stars" by Alphonse Daudet) should have prepared viewers for a probable sad ending. (The stars were all people who had died and were looking down from heaven.) The last two episodes did not seem as well written as the previous 14, but the actors certainly did their best with the lines they were given. The very last 5 minutes of Ep. 16 confused us. Bom Yi had (apparently) not died, and yet she was wheeled into the operating room. With a "perhaps" or "maybe" ending, we wonder if the producers have left the door open for a "Series 2" perhaps? Let's hope.

Clarkdale44 Nov 02 2014 1:13 am Well, Just like the last comment says, the ending is not quite like i would expect in a million year. The drama was way too great since the beginning. I really liked the role of Bom-Yi played by Soo Young, it too good that i cannot imagine anyone else doing this role. Her emotions and feelings for the character was close to real. I don't know about you guys but i just found my second favorite female lead actress (1st one is Lee Yo-Won). Male actor was alright, also the addition of kids was a wise decision. Daughter Poo-Reum plays a very great role in the entire series. Her performance was also good. The story was going all so great ,and it all seemed too good to be true, until the last two episodes. I am not sure what really happened,either the ending is written by a totally different writer or the writer has changed his mind about the ending. What could be a great sweet ending became the worst ending of any drama this year. I don't really understand, does he had to pay extra tax to make a good ending? Or has he made some kind of profit by turning it worst? The drama was way too great since the beginning till episode 14, you may stop watching it now for ur own good, imagine the good ending as u desire, like they got married and living happily. Otherwise keep watching it like i did and be prepared to manage ur excessive frustration.

I will give it 6/10 (Great casting, great cinematography, great ost)

I cried like a baby @ the end of ep. 16! :-( :-( :-( SAAAADDDD!!!! I really enjoyed this drama & it became one of my favorites to watch each week. I think Sooyoung did an excellent job of acting in this & thought she had great chemistry with Kam Woo-Sung!

Towards the end of the last episode, however, was like... R U KIDDING ME?!!? She's dragging herself up a mountain trail for those last-few-steps @ his urging...when earlier at the house she had to have oxygen after the most minimal physical exertion! HUH??! That was one-stupid-scene. I wondered how the actors could do it with a straight face! Still, I cried like crazy @ the end. :-(

why bother picturing Bom-yi as a cheerful person when you want to end the drama so sorrowful ???? i realized that win-win solution is not the option regarding her condition, but left us with that kind of ending is just awful. I don't like most of the story, felt uncomfortable with the weird chemistry between the leads, yet naively still hoping for an acceptable ending. huh! no closure for Kang Do-ha's brother relationship, seems like no future for the hospital and the father, and no happy ending for everybody. don't watch this drama unless you're a very positive person or just simply dying to see Sooyoung's acting.

some suggestion for the other SNSD members : please stop thinking to start acting, cause if you wanna do it, your'll probably get some crappie scenario. so far none of your friend's drama remarkable. just keep on doing what you're good at, whatever it is. Thnx.

It's a complicated one but if you come to think of it, there's a sweet feeling that no matter what age and character in this life you're in.. the story gave emphasis to life realization to so much understanding and respect of one another. So much giving because she will give a life as miraculous Spring Day to someone else. Weh :-( still a sad ending all of a sudden!

He makes it all look effortless - acting that doesn't draw attention to itself, but conveys warmth, and sensitivity, stubborness, and humor, grief and overwhelming love. Soo-Young has be an absolute delight - staying real and true to her charming, fiesty, and tender-hearted Bom-Yi. Everyone has done a fabulous job! I'll miss that whole crew of characters, when the show's run is over.

This is the first time i agree that age gap between much older man and young girl is no big deal. They match each other well. Just hope it will be happy ending then..

There have been so, so many great Korean romantic comedies of older woman and younger guy that this love story with an appealing older guy and way younger attractive girl is refreshing. And, the chemistry is really great. I thing that Soo Young could be the new queen of romantic comedies. She is my most favorite of Girls Generation as she is the total package!! Such expressive eyes, beautiful hair, fabulous complexion, nice height, model's body and a versatile face that makeup can transform from very innocent to very sexy. Also, I like to add that the acting of the Korean child stars, as in this drama, are the best! Can't understand why the rating aren't much higher. It's so entertaining that I'm sure it is really well received outside of Korea.

laneycg07 Oct 06 2014 3:46 pm Truly heart-warming! Get over the age difference between these two or you may just miss a great drama! So far so good after episode 8. I love how DH shows his admiration towards BY. He is in awe of her -- something truly rare these days -- even though she is much younger than him. This is what is missing between DW and BY. Sure DW loves BY but he is not in awe of her. I love watching DH almost catch his breath every time he sees BY. I hope their love story continues to get better. And his kids in the show are super adorable!

But I gave it a try since sooyoung is my fave among gg. And I didn't regret doing so. I know it's like nonsense that a person who loves a certain person will fall out of love because he/she found someone.I think its not. Everyone can fall out of love but in this case there is a heart that involves so its kind hard to justify if bom yi's new heart plays a role in her change of heart. This is just a drama an imagination that came from the writer. Its fiction. Let's just enjoy the whole series.

Clark Oct 04 2014 2:48 am This is now my favorite drama of this year. The leads have great chemistry and their sidekick support characters are hilarious. From some of the comments I've read, I think there are some misconceptions, especially since the latest episode, #8. First, Bom-Yi and Dong-Wook did not meet until after the heart transplant. Episode 1 talked about how he moved to Seoul to follow the heart. Second, by the mother's comments in ep.08, it appears Bom-Yi is starting to finally act like a 'woman in love' when she sees her daughter becoming more feminine by wearing make-up and dress (to try to look pretty for Dong-Ha). That seems like a statement that Bom-Yi was never in love with Dong-Wook, but really just liked him instead, like a best friend (ouch). And lastly, whether or not her heart plays a role (which it appears so), Bom-Yi and Dong-Ha's fate started with the daughter. After finding Dong-Ha's daughter when she was younger in ep.05, Dong-Ha's wife gave Bom-Yi the proposal bracelet, which brings everything full circle. Dong-Ha, daughter, and bracelet. I hope I got all that right. =)

I know cellular memory attachment is somehow already proved by scientists, but it doesn't justify that Bom Yi leaving her fiance because of that. It is clear before the heart transplant that Bom Yi is the girlfriend of Dong Wook and they love each other. But now after the heart operation Bom Yi falling for Dong Ha. It's an egoistic act by sacrificing Dong Wook's happiness for the sake of Dong Ha and his children. I hope the writer just make this story as a twist in a middle, though I'm pretty sure it's Dong Ha and Bom Yi will end up together at the end :(

The fact of the matter is they have great chemistry, and through the ages, there have always been such marriages that *were* successful. To hell with convention, follow your heart! :-)

It was unfair for him, especially seeing his fiance (Bom-yi) care for another man, the fact also lies that Bom-yi doesn't seem to care about the cancellation of there marriage. You know it was understandable, why he became jealous.

It would be sad to see him loses the woman he loves to his brother again. It would be nice to see a different ending instead of the main actress to always ending up with the main actor. noey Sep 22 2014 10:37 am well, despite of the age gap. a person who has transplant heart, has the tendency of personality change.. there are many true interesting stories about it. their personality resemble the real owner of the heart. that explain why Lee Bom-Yi shed tears when she first met the children, her heart knows them. her heart loves Kang Dong-Ha. that why scientists has the assumption that some of the memories are carried in one's heart

I didn't expect it.. Well.. at first when I heard that sooyoung partner is older than her I don't want to watch but I said to myself that I will try to watch, then when I watch it I like them.. I know it's not good because of the age gap but they said age doesn't matter as long as it's sincere.. Also I believe that ahjussi & the girl are fated together.. looking forward to the next episode.. by the way I'm a fan of Sooyoung (girls generation/SNSD) because of her acting here..

Soneotaku Sep 21 2014 2:22 pm i don't really ship Bom Yi with any of the men. i WAS rooting for DW, until he left the proposal to go do surgery, didn't give BY a ring, and just plain lacked romantic chemistry with her. but BY and DH just seems way to cliched and forced. im almost starting to dislike DH's ex-wife because it's like she's pushing them together. like, so what if BY got your heart its still HER life. it doesn't even feel like DH and BY are falling for each other, it feels like DH and his wife are trying to get back together USING BY. like, those stupid dreams? no. they need to move on, including the kids. BY is not a substitute. she is not some kind of container for DH's ex-wife's spirit. BY just needs to get on with her life, drop those brothers who are stuck in the past like a sack of potatoes, and go find her own goddamned man on her own without help from that meddling woman's heart/spirit or whatever. BY deserves better. she deserves someone who likes her for her and not her organ donor. GO ******* ******* WITH JW FOR ALL I CARE. the cliches of this drama are killing me. i went from second lead syndrome to no lead syndrome in one episode. please fix this, show.

I like Ji-Won for DW, I think they deserve a second chance, after all as seen in episode 4, Ji-Won intentionally lied to DW telling him she has another man so he would break-up with him. She did it for him. They have lived together and I like for them to end up together.

DH and BY belong to each other. Gotta love the chemistry between them and the kids. It just seems that they fit right in, they belong together.

I feel that inside of him he just want to take revenge of his brother for marring the girl he loved by loving the woman who has his wife's heart. He followed her after the surgery, so his feelings are not sincere. And the heart already belongs to her now so what will she do if her heart loves that man whatever it's cellular memory or she really loves him, it doesn't matter, will she love someone else with just her brain or something! She can't avoid it. and your line "This may be your heart, but this is MY LIFE. I decide who i am to love." I really love it but if we erased the word "heart" and put something else. cuz no one can avoid his feelings and isolate his heart.

niki411 Sep 19 2014 8:36 am I really like this drama - the acting, the writing and even the emotions. However, i do not like the direction. If a young girl chooses to be with an older man or vice versa, that is okay. Take A Witch's Romance, for example. Loved that drama. But, when you say that this girl's choices are being influenced by an inherited organ, i am not for that. Especially since i like the younger brother and it is now his turn to be happy. I hope at some to hear, when all the secrets are revealed, a line something like this: "This may be your heart, but this is MY LIFE. I decide who i am to love."

Those are my current thoughts. Also, it would be refreshing to have a reversed ending, with the main actors ending up with someone different. It did not work for MARRY HIM IF YOU DARE- i have NEVER been so disappointed in a drama. But i think it could work here.

He is not some botoxed idol boy trying to sustain his idol persona. The chemistry is amazing between the two of them and the kids are fantastic. Must say, some of the best writing I have seen in years of watching k-dramas. Crossing my fingers it does not get vapic.

What the hell is it with Korean entertainment that once an actor is over 35, they should be forcibly retired??? Actors, unlike athletes, only get better with age. As for for all the ageists out there, I can honestly say, when I was Soo-Young's age, I found men Kam Woo-Seong's age the most attractive. I liked men, not little boys prettier than most women! As far as I'm concerned, Mr. Kam's return to any work in front of the camera is MOST welcome! Good luck to all involved with the drama!
