Kyoko (Machiko Ono) was born and raised in a wealthy family. Her father Shigekazu (Hiroshi Tachi) told her that studying is unnecessarily. When she was 19-years-old, she met Soseki Natsume (Hiroki Hasegawa) through matchmaking. Kyoko falls in love with Soseki at first sight and Soseki is attracted to her carefree manner. The couple marries and their married life begins in Kumamoto with Soseki starting his new post as a teacher at a high school. Soseki is intelligent, but he is also emotionally unstable. He was adopted at a young age and did not have a loving home. Kyoko tries to understand him, but she cannot. Kyoko goes through more hardships.
