In the Sengoku period, Bokuden Tsukahara (Masato Sakai) was born in the Kashima Shrine and would go on to become a legendary swordsman. He learned the Kashima style of sword fighting from a young age. At the age of 17, travelled around the country to practice his skills as a warrior. While he engaged in numerous fights with real swords, he never sustained an injury.
