Shin Eun-Hye (Choi Eun-Seo) is the granddaughter of a poor old fisherman. When she was baby she was abandoned by her family and the old fisherman found her and raised her as his granddaughter. Even though she grew up not knowing her real parents, Eun-Hye grew up to have a pure character and beautiful soul. Eun-Hye walks with a limp but she shines like a star so the residents in her village call her "Byeol Nyeo" (Star Girl). Eun-Hye's dream is to become a writer. She travels to Seoul with the help of Min Hye-Sung ([[Kim Min-Ja (1942)|Kim Min-Ja]) and stays in her home. There Eun-Hye studies and baby sits for Philip (Jang Han-Eum). She experiences her first love for Min Hye-Sung's grandson Lee Hyung-Chul (Lee Jae-Yun), but she believes true love can't come true.
Lee Hyung-Chul is the son of Lee Tae-Sub (Son Chang-Min) and Seo Yoon-Hee (Choi Myoung-Gil). Hyung-Chul is an attractive twenty-something young man. He is also ambitious. He's swayed by the strong love of Yoo Ae-Ri (Jung Joo-Yeon), who has everything, and Shin Eun-Hye, who has nothing.
Yoo Ae-Ri is the only daughter of Yoo Dae-Kwon (Jung Bo-Suk), the President of Segi Group. Later. Yoo Ae-Ri becomes sick and accept's a transplant from Shin Eun-Hye. Ae-Ri's father Yoo Dae-Kwon is a charismatic figure, who does anything for the benefit of his company. His personal life is not as successful and his wife is like an enemy to him. He misses the woman whom he only ever loved.
